Case dropped against Clive's media man and private eye | Observer

America has Trump...Queensland has Clive Palmer. He is not only running for Premier of Queensland but buying up real estate.

He may soon become the new owner of Noosa Nudist Resort, which, according to reports, has met with his approval having sampled their nude yoga; swinging from a nude flying fox; working up a sweat in a “nature gym”. The mind not only boggles, it's doing back flips.

This is all good news for WA since he might lose interest in pestering Mark McGowan to re-open the hard borders, which, may not be until April 1st 2021.

Queensland you have our sympathy!

Yep, very busy guy these days.

Will new rules derail Clive Palmer's plans in the Queensland election?

Wish he would slip on a banana skin!

More cops, crushing debt and a billion dollar surplus: Welcome to Mark McGowan's election budget

Source: WAtoday...

Western Australia has handed down its State Budget with a projected surplus in 2020-21 of $1.2 billion.

Handed down by Treasurer Ben Wyatt, the WA budget fully funds the $5.5 billion WA Recovery plan announced in July this year.

It reveals that the WA economy is expected to grow by 1.25 per cent in 2020-21 – making WA the only state in the country likely to record an annual growth.

Great news Sophie, well done Western Australia!

We are very proud of our Premier, Banjo...his steadfastness has certainly paid off!

Yes, and other premiers should take a leaf out of his book!

Kamala Harris and Joe Biden use first campaign event to attack Donald Trump - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

"Don't sit around and complain about things, do something." This was the mantra given to Kamala Harris by her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, who was born in Chennai and immigrated to the US to attend a doctoral programme at UC Berkeley.

And today the 55-year-old Indian-origin Senator from California who on Tuesday became the running mate of Democratic Party's presidential nominee Joe Biden, says, her mother's advice is what drives her every single day.

Very good, yes I hear so much complaining and nothing done about it, put pen to paper, or just simply go out and do some charity and volitary work in the comunity.

That goes for you too....I see you do a lot of it Celia!!!

I have done a lot of writing to powers that be that you have not been privy to!

Trying to voice opinions that need to be addressed.

You don't know what people do in their homes helping out the less fortunate.

Why can't you be nice Sophie would it be so diffult to do?

"I have done a lot of writing to powers that be that you have not been privy to!"

Hilarious....

So Celia, you "help out the less fortunate" ...that's hard to believe when you insult ggrob about not owning a TV to receive Netflix!!!

As for "being nice" ...I see you have not apologised to ggrob yet!

Your behaviour is HYPOCRITICAL Celia...

Now I would appreciate it if you don't turn my thread into a brawl...

Your input is not needed here.

One of my late night indulgences is watching  Stephen Colbert shred Trump...

I like Colbert but am getting a bit tired of his voice impersonation of Trump.I am hoping Trump loses the election so we can get a break from Colbert imitating him.

A woman puts on a face mask.

Victorians have been wearing face masks for a while now, but the rules have changed as of today to make the public as safe as possible.

Originally people were asked to use a face mask, scarf, bandana or face shield — but not anymore.

Two weeks ago the Government said only fitted face masks would be allowed. Now, after a grace period, that rule will be enforced by Victoria Police.

As of today, all Victorians must wear a fitted mask when leaving the house.

This applies to all Victorians no matter where they live.

Bandanas, scarves and face shields alone are no longer acceptable.

You can still wear a shield that covers your forehead and the sides of your face but it must be worn with a mask.

The penalty for not wearing a mask is $200.

Wish Gladys would do the same in NSW Sophie, but I think she may have more important fish to fry at present!

Testing of wastewater in Townsville has turned up traces of COVID-19 for the first time in what authorities say is a worrying development.

One new case has also been reported in a man in his 20s who recently returned from the Philippines and tested positive on day 10 in quarantine in Brisbane.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the positive result from sewage in Townsville was the first such result in the regional centre.

"We will be working with the Townsville Hospital and health service to increase testing rates and to try to work out if there is a case or cases in and around in Townsville that have been picked up in that wastewater testing," he said on Saturday.

Poor Gladys...can't help feeling sorry for her. Never heard of Maguire and now he's hitting the headlines.

Should Gladys resign? I fear she may have no choice. A lesson to women (and men) be nosy..make sure you know what the lover is doing, especially in politics...you have a lot to lose.

If she makes mask wearing mandatory in NSW...I may soften somewhat!

It has not gone un-noticed that it is mostly women on social media giving her a hard time and not the men, interesting.  Yep, do agree about extensive mask wearing in NSW Sophie, especially in Sydney.

BCG vaccination may induce heterologous immunity and protect against Covid-19

Scientists in the UK have begun testing the BCG vaccine, developed in 1921, to see if it can save lives from Covid.

The vaccine was designed to stop tuberculosis, but there is some evidence it can protect against other infections as well. It appears this vaccine also helps in reducing blood sugar levels in type 1 diabetes. 1000 people are now being given the vaccine.

Interesting...there was a time when all school children in the UK were given this vaccine. Hope it can add to the pool of research for Covid-19.

Not so good is that yesterday, Johnson & Johnson is the latest company to pause a late-stage trial of a COVID-19 vaccine candidate, confirming on Tuesday it had paused all dosing in its phase 3 trial as it investigates a participant's illness.

It comes one month after trials of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, which Australia has inked a supply deal for, were stopped for a week while researchers reviewed an adverse reaction from a participant.

AstraZeneca also said there is little possibility of having the Oxford Vaccine any sooner than early next year and suggest the best thing at the moment is to continue this...

Funny Trump story and good for some Saturday humour!

Donald Trump shared a satirical article Friday about Twitter shutting down to slow the spread of negative news on his election rival Joe Biden, apparently unaware that it was a joke.

Trump, who often rails against "fake news" while retweeting misinformation to his 87 million followers, tweeted a link to the tall tale headlined: "Twitter Shuts Down Entire Network To Slow Spread Of Negative Biden News."

"Wow, this has never been done in history," Mr Trump tweeted - correctly, as it turns out, because Twitter had done no such thing.

The story Mr Trump shared was from the Babylon Bee, a satirical news site with the motto "Fake news you can trust" clearly visible on its Twitter page.

Researchers Use 32,000-Year-Old Seeds to Grow and Examine Plants

Thanks to the work of squirrels, researchers in Siberia were able to grow viable Silene stenophylla plants from 32,000-year-old seeds. This incredible event, which happened in 2012, is still having a dramatic event on the scientific community and now Austrian researchers are trying to sequence the plant's DNA to find out how it was able to survive so long.

The story starts over 10 years ago, when a team of Russian, Hungarian, and American scientists recovered the frozen seeds in 2007. They were buried 125 feet underground, deep in the Siberian permafrost. The team was investigating the burrows of ancient squirrels when they made the discovery. Fruit and seeds had been perfectly sealed from the elements thanks to the squirrels' burrowing techniques.
