Where did the Coronavirus 19 originate from? and anything relative to the virus.

Coronavirus is 'uniquely adapted to infect humans': Top vaccine scientist says it could only have come from an animal through a 'freak of nature' - and the possibility it leaked from Wuhan lab MUST be investigated

Scientists have produced evidence that the pandemic virus is 'uniquely adapted to infect humans', raising fresh questions over whether its origins were natural or could have occurred in a laboratory.

After watching " I'm a Celebrity- Get Me Out Of Here", I can only wonder what on earth those people are eating in the challenges. So far they have eaten Bull's testicles, Ostrich Anus', cockroaches, maggots ,offal of every type and other disgusting things, surely they could contract Hepatitis or other unkown diseases? After this Chinese outbreak I think the t.v. people should put this show on hold for any future filming.

Bleeeechhhhh!

..... and thats one of the many reasons I don't watch it!  Can't stomach it!  lol

Hi Hola.

Have never watched that programme it has never appealed to us.

Reminds me of the young Australian guy that was dared to eat a slug, he ended up getting a parasite that effected his brain and died a few years later. Yes that show I do not watch, I think it is so wrong to make people eat things at all, they all have the potential to give them a parasite that might not show up until weeks later and then the TV station does not get the blame, but I suppose the contestants have signed a waiver.

Coronavirus: NSW Government asks children who travelled to China to not Return to school

http://a.msn.com/01/en-au/BBZog7W?ocid=se

Children who have returned from China in the past two weeks will be asked to stay away from NSW schools,Due to concerns over the potential spread of the novel coronavirus.

Students are due to return to government schools — primary schools, secondary schools, TAFE and pre-schools — for the first day of term one tomorrow.

The NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard and Education Minister Sarah Mitchell say while the risk of the virusSpreading is low, they are acting as a precaution given the incubation period can be up to 14 days

They should not be ASKED they should be TOLD not to attend a school or ANYWHERE else for at least 3 weeks -- as it has an incubation period of two weeks -- and that's when it is most dangerous

WHERE THE HELL IS THE LEADERSHIP HERE  ONCE AGAIN!

Celia, not getting the debate on whether or not the Chinese are eating Koala meat, I have no idea on that.

I remember reading that Koalas sent to a zoo in China are breeding quite well.  They even have a eucalyptus forest they planted for food.

I couldn't find that article again but found this youtube video, apparently they now have four generations of Koalas.  One comment on there mentioned that China now has the largest population of Koalas outside Australia.  I don't know if that's true but it wouldn't surprise me they seem to be very good at breeding programmes in their zoos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f11vVg3o4Lo

... yes - they do have a good breeding programme for Koala's - there was one born only this year!

Still begs as to why we send them o/seas for breeding IMO ......although they send their Panda's here ....suppose thats what Zoo's do -  breed other countries animals so people who cannot afford to go to that country can see them in the "flesh' or should I say "fur" lololol

I hope they know what they are doing releasing this news!

Interesting, but I have heard they use monkey cells for a lot of vaccines, I could be wrong. Not good for vegans.

I wish Australia would do this starting last week!

.... you can guarantee that China will be "playing down the real numbers" of those infected and dead!

Read in todays paper that Aussie Seafood Exporters are supposedly "tearing their hair out" because China has put an embargo on their deliveries!

Bit of luck we here in Oz might be able to buy seafood at a decent price IF they do really have a glut of it! Doubt that will happen tho' .....

Crayfish here in Melb. are $120.00 ea. (1 kg.) ridiculous!

Ahhh the 80's (good ole' days - lol) when Crays were $12.95 (1 kg.)  Nice!

Agree re the good old days. Used to catch our own prawns ... heaps and free LOL.

Late hubby had a mate who caught lobsters/crays. We swapped catches .... yummo.

A second case of the potentially deadly coronavirus has been confirmed in Victoria while health authorities in Queensland have confirmed the state's first case, a 44-year-old Chinese national from Wuhan, who is currently isolated in the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Queensland health officials have also revealed the Chinese women's national soccer team is being quarantined in a Brisbane hotel until February 5 over concerns about the possible spread of the virus. 32 people in the Chinese women's soccer squad — including players and staff — travelled through the city of Wuhan one week ago, where the outbreak is believed to have begun.

NSW Health have confirmed the number of people in that state under investigation for the virus has jumped from six to 16.

The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) now wants all passengers who have returned from Hubei province to isolate themselves for a fortnight.

Well I just read the British that are being rescued out of China on flights back to the uk will

be quarantined for 2 weeks upon arrive in Britain!   Makes  sense,  but  the passengers on

flights into Oz being let free to roam!

... British Airways have stopped all flights in and out of China!

Australia should be doing the same IMO .......

I also heard on SkyNews that the Chinese are NOT letting the world know as to what vaccines etc. they are working on!  They are keeping it "secret"?  Well good for them - do that - let's hope whichever country finds the answer - keeps it from them!!!

It's disgusting that they are not being transparent regarding this dire situation!

Foxy this is why I post the above the other day!

Heard somewhere this morning that SARS had a contagion rate of 2.5 people infected from one person with the illness and believe it's 3.5 people infected from 1 person infected with Coronavirus.  It was also mentioned that measles as a contagion rate of 18 people infected from one person with the illness.  Think I got that right but am open to being corrected if people have other info.

However just found it interesting to note these comparisons.

Guess the over-riding concern being there is no Coronavirus vaccine ...but still am hearing the majority just sort of pass through a mild bout of illness.

Yes the only ones who have issues are those already vunerable, comprised immune systems, already with a chronic illness, and those who have respritory issues. If you are healthy you can fight it off easily just like any cold or flu. A vaccine does not prevent you from getting any virus and there will be no time to test to see if it works anyway. I don't understand the big panic because when they had the SARS virus spread very few Australians got it anyway. And the coronavirus had been around for years too. Cannnot compare with the measles because this used to be a mild common childhood disease until they exaggerated the dangers of it, people do not die from a virus they die from compllications like when it develops into something more serious, like I said if you are healthy and with a strong immune system you can fight off any virus.

(These are my opinions only and are not meant to be seen as medical advice)

Hi musicveg,

Can't completely agree that measles is/was a mild common childhood illness, although up until fairly recently it was usually treated as such.

My younger sister had measles back in the early 1960s,  and recall her being really sick with incredibly high temperatures etc. But it was a bit of a ho hum approach back then with a sort of 'o it's just measles' type reaction.

Also think we must have infected people the length and breadth of Queensland at the time, because she became unwell whilst the family was travelling by train for a fair stretch of the Queensland coastline, and we seemed to have people moving in and out of our carriage continually.

But then again most people possibly had measles as kids back then limiting the contagion somewhat.

A lot of people built up immunity to measles naturally but these days it is all artifical, but I think the reason it has come back is because of lack of proper nutrition and hygiene. If you look at history of plagues they all started in poor areas where people lived in filth and did not have access to fresh foods or the foods were not kept away from rodents etc. (no refrigeration in those days.)

China is building a 1000 bed Coronavirus hospital -  complete with "state of the art" facilities!

This hospital has hundreds of men working on it 24/7 and within 3 days they are now onto the 2nd. storey of this new hospital building.  The Chinese Govt. has demanded this hospital must be FINISHED within 10 days!  Communism at it's best!

More power to them eh?  We can't even build a bloody Bus Stop in a month!!!

........  if they bothering to go to that extreme.... has to make a person wonder what the Chinese really know and are hiding???????

Two Australians have been diagnosed with the deadly coronavirus in China.

Health Minister Greg Hunt told a press conference this morning the patients had been treated and released.

"My advice before coming to this event from the national incident centre in our morning briefing is that two Australians did contract the virus in Guangdong province," Mr Hunt said.

"They have been treated and the advice that I have - and I would want to be cautious on this - is that they have been released and are not seeking consular assistance at this stage."

Here is an interesting article about how conoravirus and sars is linked to wildlife poaching, why should the rest of the world suffer because of the Chinese diet preferences:

.... just signed it musicveg   :)

I mean these Chinese have a lot of really superrrrrr intelligent peeps amongst their population ...great at hacking (haha) and IT in general .....so you have to wonder why they are still in the "dark ages" with their myths regarding animals and the cruelty shown towards them?

I would have thought there had been enough of a generational gap for them to get over these ridiculous ideas?  Obviously not!

Like I just read in your link - how they think that beavers - deer etc. (or parts of) can cure cancer?  Bizarre.....

Thanks for that link - interesting .............

Thanks for that link musicveg.

Realise it's been mentioned before on this discussion somewhere I  think, but all this Coronavirus and the transmission from animal to human viruses does make you wonder about the health risks involved in that 'I'm a celebrity etc' show...And yes it makes me feel sick to watch, but have tuned in a few times   and think there has been things like eating raw meat involved, and floating around in barrels full of animal bits and pieces.

Quietly wonder if that vet bloke Chris Brown would have any concerns.

Yes it would be interesting to follow up on the contestants on that show to see if they end up sick or with some debilitation. Should be stopped.
