New YLC forum on the way – we want your input to help us make it great!
Hi there YLCers,
We’ve been working very hard to make the new YLC website a much better experience for you and the feedback we’ve received has been very positive. We’re constantly working to make it even better and, with your input, that process continues.
Now we’re turning our attention to the forum. We’ve received member feedback about the existing forum needing a clean-up and an update. We’d like to ask you for your input to help us make the YLC forum an improved online community experience.
We need to know:
-
Which forum threads you’d like us to bring across to a new forum platform? We can’t bring them all, but we may be able to migrate the top 20 threads. It’s your call as to which ones come along.
-
Which features would you like to see included in a new forum? This may not happen in the first instance, but we will certainly work towards including as many features as we can.
-
We need to cull some categories. Which ones must come across? Which ones would you like to see on the new forum (if they don’t already exist)? We’d like to keep the forums succinct, so keeping them general works to this end.
-
Have you signed up to comment on the YLC website (not the forum)? The new forum will require you to do so. This means you will need to register as a ‘new’ user. You can use your existing login details, but you will need to re-enter them via this link: https://www.yourlifechoices.com.au/rcp-register/. Once you do this you'll be able to comment on the website articles and the forum with a single login. If you have already registered to make comments, this will be your new login for the forum (once it has launched).
We’re taking all input and feedback up until 29 August and we’ll be looking to launch a basic new forum by the end of the month. So get your feedback in fast! We’re happy for you to add it in this forum thread or to email to drew@yourlifechoices.com.au
With your help we can make the new forum a great online experience!
I had a look at the new “sign in” procedure for YLC and am very surprised it asks for a person’s postal code which YLC says will be seen by “everyone.”
In this age of scamming and identity theft I am truly amazed that such information is requested on a public seniors' forum. Why?
Disclosing postal codes is not as innocuous as it may seem…it allows people to track you and information can be shared with other companies. The purpose is usually to figure out your address so that you can be put on a mailing list and bombarded with junk mail or nuisance calls….not to mention giving scammers a free run!
From a legal perspective one should be very careful who you give your postcode to. You should treat your postcode in the same way that you treat any other personal information such as your name or street address or phone number or email address.
You asked for input Leon and this is mine.
