The above link is about how the travel agency helps the cruise lines fill their cabins.

Tropical Far North Western Australia Kimberly Region

Tropical Broome is a mecca for international visitors to spend a beach holiday in West Australias outback Kimberley coastal region on glamorous Cable Beach perhaps buying romantic South Sea pearls which have been collected by divers off the Kimberley coast since the 1800s. A self drive holiday in WAs north west out of Broome can be all on the hard top and rewarded with extraordinary vistas of boab trees, stark blue skies and red pindan landscapes with few passing cars for hours and incredible natural wonders, some bizarre in their contrast to the wide horizon around them. A WA 4WD vacation can visit outback gorges, waterfalls and cattle stations the size of some European countries and stay on a million acre cattle station on your adventure vacation in the WA outback.

One of our short breaks three years ago was a flight up to Broome, just under a 2 hour flight from Perth Airport.

We booked ourselves the flight and the car hire, which we picked up at the airport.  Then drove straight to the place where we had booked into on the internet.  Called The Pearl.

We were very surprised at the accommodation, a great place to chill out and do ones own thing.

Each Unit is like a Bali villa with a tall wall around and ones own BBQ and 8m pool.  Perfect for oldies to relax and enjoy in. Privacy is another good point, cannot see next door and they cannot see you!  [have never been to Bali]

I would not mind going again, it certainly is a laid back place. We went up to see the Pearl farming and joined others out trying to see some whales.

Mostly we enjoyed just being able to laze, either by the pool, in the family room and watch movies or read.  No rushing around jumping on and off coaches to see another site.  It is not that type of little break.

Ann, had quite a few great holidays, but one the wife and I really enjoyed was a couple of weeks in the Seychelles. We had some neighbours from there and went with them. No big hotel, we stayed in a cottage similar to the one below.

Boy what a great time, living like the natives, getting a real feel for the place, going for forest hikes and eating all the local food. Would go  back there in a heart beat.

Oh boy that sounds fantastic Reagan....how long did it take to get there from Perth. I am guessing you flew out from Perth airport?

Is it expensive there, like groceries?

Please share your other holidays it is always interesting to hear what people do and where they go on their holidays.

One of our favourite holidays was a flight over to Yarpoon in Queensland. Hubby had a conference there and I had a car to use, so three other ladies joined me as their hubbies were busy with the conference too.  Trouble was we didn't see much else but croc farms.

When the conference was finished we used the hired car to bunny hop upto the Daintree stopping for two nights at each place. Really enjoyed that holiday.

Ann,I live in Melbourne, you're thinking of Micha. It took approximately 12 hrs from Melbourne if I remember correctly

It wasn't expensive for us because through our neighbours we got to know where to shop  etc. My wife was a bit wary at first because she's only stayed in hotels, but even she said she'd go again.

No you Reagan, usually flights go out of Perth for islands on the Indian Ocean.

But you obviously flew from Melbourne.

I would like to go there, I would also like to fly up to the  Cocus Islands.  I have seen them from a distance when we came passed by ship years ago.  I don't know why the cruise ships don't make a return trip from Fremantle there.

Hubby wants to get back home and see the GP so we shall leave the dophins, shame as I have

not seen them since 1996 when we last came up here.  Think he has been doing too much driving, but aren't most men stubborn!

I remember years ago he was insistant he wanted to get home to Karratha as it was then.
We left Perth after lunch and stopped over in Geraldton and then got going at 9am and he insisted in a straight drive to Karratha, got into the drivewayat 5pm I was stiff, hungry and cross.

Have just been sent an email from a friend in Tamworth.

Hold onto your seats I hope this works.....

I have posted it here as a lot of people on this plane were probably going on their holidays.

Better go and pack the car and return to Perth.

Bangkok ‘most visited destination’ in Asia Pacific

April 26, 2017 13:24

By The Nation

Bangkok remains the most visited destination in Asia Pacific while Singapore continues to lead the Thai capital in total visitor expenditure, according to the latest findings from the Mastercard Asia Pacific Destinations Index 2017 shared at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Bangkok.

hope you didnt get conned by the tuk tuk drivers at the palace entrance

Hot 37 and showery today so taking it easy around the hotel .

Ex Pst friend from Ampang (KL) joining us at Royal Cliff . Will go stay with him on way back to Singers .

not stopping in Penang or KL on the way back?

Penang has some of the best street food in Malaysia

Lots of expats have retired there under their residency visa program (MM2H)

As I said stopping in KL at Ampang . I don't make plans but might wander over to Penang or drive down west coast .

Ah Ok

Malacca is a good place to stop - Portugese history there

Taman Negara is good too - lovely hotel in the middle of the rainforest and great wildlife sightings. Bit inland from KL - 3 hours or so drive

Enjoy

I actualy prefer the East Coast but the last time I did it in the 90s the Timber Trucks were a bit hairy .

Roads much better now

freeway west to east will get you Coast to coast in 3 hours

need to stop half a dozen times for the bloody tolls but easy drive

The last time I did the east Coast I parked the car and took bum boat out to an island . Can't remember its name Radang ?!! It was great not full of Singaporean yachties.

Yes - Redang with an e

Off the coast of Trengganu

Actually pleant of beautiful chalets all along the east coast - lazy fisnerman village pottered throughout

that area is where most of the Vietnameses boat people landed in the 70's

Yeah looks like it .,Don't do packages just wander .

I did go by yacht from Singers to Langkowi ? Didn't like it much .

There is another one Raph Taomi ???? Is that less touristy these days . I really think Malaysia has been spoilt by all the tourists .

Do you know KL well Raphy . Ampang is the equivalent of the Eastern Suburbs .

Worked in KL for a few years. Lived in PJ

Ampang used to be hig end even in the 70's and 80's - Embassies area with mostly diplomats, Expat Execs and local hihg flyers

Now there's lots more hih proced suburbs but certain parts of Ampang is still Multi millionaires row

I must tell you a little about my friend who has lived in Ampang for thirty years .

Although Shaggy could tell the story much better .

My friend is Chilean from one of the five families in Chile .

He had to leave Chile under the Pinochet regime when he was young and foolish . Much to his families dismay he was in opposition to the regime and was arrested and tortured . In simple terms they applied electetroduced to his balls.

Because of Family connections he was rescued and banished from Chile

I met him in Italy where he was working as the world wide marketing manager forPCs . For Olivetti .

I was divisional manager for Asia ;

i picked him up and put him into S Korea to manage a Joint Venture with LG .

He did well and I promoted him to MD of Olivetti Malaysia which was being  Bumitiesed.

For a short story he has stayed their eversince and has created his own import export company which is also Bumitiesed . But he has also inherited a wine company in Chile . But chooses to live most of the year in KL

Great story

Yes we certainly come across so many intersting people along the way, and working in different parts of the world certianly adds to the tapestry of experience

The so called Bumitization - or racist affirmative action was and still is a disaster.

Your friend still better off living in KL than back in Chile . Its a great place even now for expats. I'm sure you remeber your time as head of Asia living in HK and travelling the region fondly

I'm glad I never stayed in one country let alone one city all my working life
