Great collections of photos, this is my favourite.
Funny you should say that, I was thinking the same.
Years ago chatting to members of Yahoo Groups where I realized how large these animals are!
460 to 990 kgs the male.
Also the Moose, a male can weigh 550kgs.

.
Wow I did not realize how big they are, you would not want to make one angry, USA sure has some amazing wildlife.
Great photos this morning Celia. I like the Highland Cattle one. Took this photo of one in Tasmania, very striking looking animals.
Wow! great photo, reminds me of my late parents in law that were chased by one in Scotland!
How our Vets help all animals.
The Tiger had a tumor in a Forida Vet surgery. Amazing the knowledge that vets have to have on all species of animals.
Looks if this Orangutan is enjoying the attention!
This Tiger needed eye surgery.
reminds me of my many times going to collect the pets I have had over the years.
They really do not like the Tudor Collars, but need to have them due to their ability to pull their stitches out.
Below dental surgery.
I have seen many of these over the years from being attacked by other cats or dogs! The Abscess.
Our standard poodle had a lump on his gum, thought he had a splinter in the gum, after a few days of trying to treat it I went off to the vet with my husband and standard poodle. The vet looked at it and said it was Bone Cancer! Our hearts fell. He took samples and it came back with a positive, but he said, it is not the type of Bone Cancer I expected, this is the cancer you should have if you have to have cancer!
Pardon we said
This cancer can grow to the size of a grapefruit if not treated, it doesnt spread around the body his reply came back.
What I need to do is cut out the bone the cancer is growing in and a few cm either side of the growth.
That was done two days later and our poor 9 year old came home looking very sad for himself, I was thinking to myself it this had been a human we would still be in hospital! The vet had sewn up the flap where they was no bone very neatly and unless you knew what had taken place you would not have known about three inches of the lower jaw bone was missing.
Three days later our Standard, [a big guy] was catching tennis balls in his mouth and running around in the park!
Gosh we thought if that was a human we would be lying low and feeling very sore.
How wonderful the vets treatment was. Sadly he only lived for another two and a half years, that was a shock, yes he had other cancers in his body that we found after an ultra sound of his spine and had to be put to sleep, we were in shock losing our best buddy who had travelled to Melbourne and back with us several times and to the UK and back.
Standard Poodles don't live much beyond 14. - 16 years if you are very lucky, but we didn't expect him to go so soon.
The hardest thing is to tell the vet to put your loved pet to sleep, I have had to do this several times, they then travel to the RainBow Bridge. At least they don't have to suffer the pain and indignity that humans do when these insidious diseases strike us.
A visit to the vets can be a very confronting experience at times.
Don't know who dreads it most ... the pet or their owner.
On a lighter note ...
So true RnR I even hate giving our cats their monthly worming and flea treatments! Yes I talk to the cats and I am sure they understand every word I say!!
My boy above [it is the only photo I have that will down load on site he is 2 years old in the photo taken in the house in England] as a pup used to love interaction with Rupert the cat from the house across the street, when Rupert had had enough he would go and sit under the rose bush so our dog knew that was the end of their play. Husband and friends would not believe me [it happened when I was gardening in the front garden] till one day it happened when he was home and saw for himself, he said he would not have believed it had he not seen it for himself. The cat and dog were friends.
Can't see the photo of your cat Celia. I have had cats and dogs that were friends, once I had a ginger cat who accepted the puppy and years later had another cat given to me (did not have the ginger cat anymore) and the puppy who was now a dog accepted the kitten, they were so close and used to sleep together, when the dog died the cat was missing her so much. Anyway years later the cat left home when I had my son and went back to my mum's after being missing for weeks turned up at her door, reason is the cat had been staying there while I was in a unit but when I moved to the house and took the cat she was not happy with the toddler now running around, my mum looked after her until the cat died at home with her after years of being spoilt.
LOL Probably because I don't have a photo of a cat but a dog. The photo is clear up on the site here of our late standard, he was about two years old here in this photo.
The cat he played with in WA here before we flew to the UK was not our cat but a cat that lived across the road from us that came over to play with him. he must have been about 4 months old at the time.
