Anyone have a link to the most efficient masks to buy in the internet?

If you live in Victoria toot, your chances of getting a surgical mask is very slim.

There is still a chance in NSW at chemists, some supermarkets, Aldi was slammed for selling theirs at over $40 above the normal price.

You can try these links for reusable ones...Australian made

https://www.finder.com.au/australian-made-face-masks

https://www.australianfacemasks.com.au/

However if you're handy with a needle or sewing machine...they are dead easy to make.

Thanks Sophie

Just checked this one out.

Bit pricey but they are reuseable but you have to change the filters which are extra.  What do you think?

I would be suspicious of the filter, looks like a bit of plastic with holes in it. Too expensive.

The valve in front is a good idea toot..it does allow for easier exhalation and prevents some humidity.

However, valves do fall short of protecting those in your immediate vicinity because it only filters air breathed in, but not air breathed out.

I’m thinking of family like your husband, children or grandchildren when close by or in a car. You may have to think about that one.

Personally, and this is only my own choice...I would go for one without a valve.

Good advice Sophie, I think the valve thing is a marketing gimmick so they can charge top dollar. I think we will be seeing more of this marketing gimmicks appear too.

I wish you would just mind your own business...nothing is "gimmicky" about the mask.

Of course it is gimmicky if the valve does not work. Not nice Sophie after I gave you a compliment too, geez.

To toot...

The valve on the outside is an exhalation valve, which doubles as a filter.

Another filter is within the mask itself and looks like this. You can buy extras.. a pack of 10 for $30

Thanks Sophie, still checking others out, it's a mine field. lol

Hahaha all the skeptical turkeys are gobbling a new tune! Like your masks guys LOL

Face masks are emerging as one of the most powerful weapons to fight the novel coronavirus, with growing evidence that facial coverings help prevent transmission—even if an infected wearer is in close contact with others.

Vietnam Highlights with 2 Nights Halong Bay Cruise

The United States recorded its first COVID-19 infection in late January… the same week that the virus officially reached Vietnam.

That was nearly four months ago. Since then, America has suffered more than 1 million cases and is losing thousands of lives to the coronavirus each day.

As for Vietnam? Zero reported deaths and fewer than 300 cases. Not bad for a nation of 95 million people.

Is there any other sizable country that has so thoroughly vanquished COVID-19… and without the resources of a wealthy nation? (Many Vietnamese earn only a few hundred dollars per month, less than what most Americans spend on food).

South Korea, Iceland, New Zealand, Taiwan and Singapore are cited as virus-fighting success stories. Yet, Vietnam has more citizens than all of those places combined… and has received only a fraction of the credit.

There are indeed lessons to be learned from Vietnam, namely the benefits of acting swiftly and sternly.

Its leaders wasted little time in “framing the pandemic as an enemy,” said Ba-Linh Tran, an independent policy analyst based in Ho Chi Minh City. (Tran is soon to receive a doctorate from the University of Bath.)

In Vietnam, public service announcements warn that the virus is “threatening the human race” and that “we have entered a war, everyone is now a “soldier.”

How did Vietnam do it? Simple really…social distancing…hygiene,  everyone wearing a facemask...

The simple thing they did was to shut down their borders, and social distance, not the masks. If we had acted properly in the first place we could have been virus free but our stupid Government allowed the borders to stay open and trust that people would self quarantine.

You can't help but admire Vietnam. Unlike Brazil, they didn't have to threaten to shoot anyone to do what is right.

We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can’t socially distance. There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!

If this idiot had done this at the start, so many Americans would not have lost their lives. Impeach him!

Maybe if they had closed their borders early too.

Can I remove my face mask to talk with other people?

No, you should keep your face mask on while speaking with other people and maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres. However, it is important to consider people who are deaf or hard of hearing – or those who care for or interact with a person who is hearing impaired – in these situations consider a clear face mask or use written communication, where possible.

Can I wear a face shield instead?

Face shields may be easier to wear for some individuals who have limited ability to wear masks. If face shields are used, ensure they are properly designed to cover the sides of the face and below the chin. Reusable face shields should be cleaned and disinfected after each use. Disposable face shields should only be worn for single use.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented upheaval in the fashion industry, but some Australian creatives are meeting said upheaval and raising it one by producing some of their best (and most unique) work to date. While many retail businesses have been forced to close due to social distancing and isolation guidelines laid out by the government, that hasn't necessarily meant the work has stopped. The answer? Only the very accessory you're likely seeing just about everywhere, and for a good reason: Face masks.

Medical professionals have donned the face garment for years now as an additional protective barrier against the transmission of germs.Understandably, face masks have been front and centre as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread around the community. With the state of Victoria commencing another six-weeks of lockdown due to a second-wave of the virus, the Australian government have made the wearing of face masks compulsory for people out in public in coronavirus-hit Melbourne and Mitchell Shire from 11:59pm Wednesday July 22."We're going to be wearing masks in Victoria and potentially in other parts of the country for a very long time," Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews explained."This is our new normal, at least for the next four-and-a-bit weeks and beyond that, I think that we will have to embrace things like masks," Andrews added of the facial garments.Elsewhere across the country, the Australian government has not yet advised the mandatory wearing of masks for residents (provided they are not showing symptoms of COVID-19), however, many are doing it voluntarily. There is much debate as to the effectiveness of a face mask, and it's important to note that face masks do not necessarily stop you from getting the virus, nor from spreading it onto others. That said, there are certainly some benefits to wearing a face mask.If fitted correctly, the mask creates a physical barrier between your mouth and your immediate environment, which can protect against large droplets spreading from other people around you.And psychologically, wearing a mask can subconsciously help you remember not to touch your face, which is a known way to fast track the virus' spread. For this reason, many people are choosing to wear a mask of their own accord - and much like the toilet paper debacle, they're selling out like hot cakes.Herein lies the problem - first and foremost, doctors, nurses, carers, the elderly and the vulnerable should have easy access to masks, right now more than ever.So to help the production, some Australian fashion designers have utilised their own skills and assets to chip in - in more ways than one.Below, we take a look at some of the unique ways fashion brands are creating quirky mask designs that are also helping to make a difference. So, if you're looking to buy a mask, whether it's for your own peace of mind or as a way to give back, the below options are a great place to start.https://www.nowtolove.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/face-masks-coronavirus-australia-63651?

What a jumbled mess! I presume you posted that for people to read?

However the readability value is NIL. Who has time to rake through this confused block of text?

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has said there is no zone in the state that is safer than another after Newcastle residents were advised yesterday not to travel to Sydney.

"It doesn't matter where you live. The virus can transfer no matter where you are," said Ms Berejiklian.

The Western Australian government has announced $3m in funding to support the local manufacture of personal protective equipment.

Under the fund, WA businesses that want to manufacture PPE including masks, face visors, coveralls and ventilators can apply for grants of up to $500,000.

There is also funding of up to $20,000 for companies wanting to undertake a feasibility study into the viability of a PPE manufacturing proposal.

The WA premier, Mark McGowan, said the fund would help businesses recover from the impact of the coronavirus:

These grants will help successful businesses move towards manufacturing PPE right here in Western Australia, and move towards being less reliant on obtaining PPE from outside the State.

The health minister, Roger Cook, said the funding would “help establish a reliable local supply [of PPE] in the future”:

Although the COVID-19 case numbers in Western Australia remain very encouraging, we cannot afford to be complacent, and these funds will help our State prepare for the future.

In a small bit of good news, because we need it: all the social distancing we’ve done since the pandemic began has significantly cut the number of deaths caused by the flu.

Just 36 people died of the flu in Australia between January and June, compared with 430 same period last year.

But, sadly, 128 people have died after testing positive to Covid-19.

It appears more people than ever are having the flu vaccination.

A one-year-old child from the Hunter region is among 19 coronavirus cases identified overnight, New South Wales Health Minister Brad Hazzard has confirmed.

Mr Hazzard confirmed one of the new cases was a toddler who attended the Goodstart Early learning centre in Anna Bay, which was closed today for contact tracing and cleaning.

Another case, he said, was a school-aged student who attended Tomaree Public School in Port Stephens.

The primary school and the nearby Tomaree High School were also closed today for deep cleaning.
