I was watching the funeral last night between three episodes of Escape to the Country!    Then came into see the photos on the daily mail on the PC it made me think!

Why were the royals so strict at arriving in their Bubbles  [as the Brits call it] especially when they sat in the church then they told their drivers to go they will walk back to the castle. So they walked back as if there was no pandemic restrictions!  Mixing together and chatting away.  Yes it was outside but it made a mockery  of the the restrictions that the UK had with their 'bubbles'.

I watched all of the BBC coverage of Prince Philip's funeral ... it seemed so very solemn and even more memorable without the crowds to me.

The sounds of marching feet on the gravel and steps; the entry of Prince Philip's carriage and his fell ponies with his hat, glove and whip on the seat; his flag-draped coffin (with his naval cap and sword, the family wreath and the Queen's personal message); the bowed heads of all the service personnel; the slow transit of his coffin on the jeep he designed followed by his immediate family; the near empty chapel with the Queen seated alone; the choir of four, the lone piper and the State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry sounding Reveille, the coffin descending.

RnR - that was the most solemn and spectacular funeral I have ever seen. The lone piper brought tears to my eyes and the State Trumpeters sounding Reveille were fantastic, and how eerie it sounded as the pallbearers marched up the stairs one at a time carrying HRH Prince Philip. RnR those photos tell a story of a man who lived a good life and served his wife and country well.

Thanks Hola.

Prince Philip's carriage had a small jar with the red lid and this is what contained sugar cubes that he used to feed the horses after a day out riding. He thought of everything.

Australian soprano Miriam Allan was one of four singers in Prince Philip's funeral choir.

Ms Allan, a soprano from Newcastle, has toured around the world performing in choirs and operas. She has been based in England since 2003, and is married to Richard Bannan, a Lay Clerk of St George's Chapel.

The three male members of the choir were half of a group known as the Queen's Six — Tom Liliburn, Nick Madden and Simon Whiteley. The Queen's Six, established in 2008, make up half of the Lay Clerks of St George's Chapel. Lay Clerks are singers employed to sing at the cathedral.

The media keeps on stating HM was sitting alone, but I can remember a photo of the Queen sitting next to Prince Andrew last night in their early addition going to press!  He was three sees away like the rest of the family unless they were in their family bubbles like Sophie and Edward with their three children.

Brave: The Queen sat alone inside St George's Chapel as Covid regulations forced her to be separated from her family and wear a mask. And a host of stars took to social media to comment on how it was 'heartbreaking' to watch Her Majesty sit alone

I wonder why HM chose to sit in that location, same seat as she did for Prince Harry's wedding.   When I would have thought she would sit closer to the coffin and alter.

Prince Andrew: A lonely figure at his father's funeral | The Scotsman

Celia - I noticed that Princess Anne was sitting with her husband in this photo yet she rode with the Queen in the Rolls when they left the Church? Wonder why she didn't sit closer to her Mum in the Church. Maybe the Queen wanted it that way.

It is to do with their 'Bubble'  the people that they have been living with during the Covid-19.  They were allowed to sit with a certain number of people called bubbles.  I don't think until now HM has seen her children up close.  Prince Charles went to visit his father but I don't think the others were allowed, that is why it was so strange that the royals walked back to the castle together and not in their cars.

Seating plan.

Yes RnR I saved that to myself on an email just incase they pulled that off too.   I think there is so much hatred for Prince Andrew in the UK they dare not have him in the photos of the church.

Prince William 'requested Peter Phillips stand between him and Harry at Prince Philip's funeral - after Duke of Sussex faced 'frostiness' from family on his return'

Prince William and Prince Harry were separated by their cousin Peter Phillips as they followed Philip's coffin Princess Anne's son stood between the brothers during funeral procession to St George's Chapel yesterday    It comes amid 'frostiness' towards Harry from senior members of the royal family - including brother William  Princess Anne, Prince Edward and wife Sophie didn't acknowledge Harry before or during yesterday's service

Prince William asked for Peter Phillips to stand between him and Harry during Prince Philip's funeral procession yesterday, it has been claimed.

The brothers were separated by Princess Anne's son as they walked behind the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin while it made its way to St George's Chapel in Windsor yesterday afternoon.

It was the first time William and Harry had appeared together in public since Megxit saw the Duke of Sussex leave for LA with wife Meghan.

The brothers seemed to reconcile as they left St George's Chapel after the service, however there appeared to be a degree of tension between them beforehand

Sources have now told The Mail on Sunday that Harry has experienced 'a great deal of frostiness' from many of his relatives since arriving in Britain a week ago and self- isolating at Frogmore Cottage, the house given to him and Meghan as a wedding present by the Queen.

Princess Anne, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie failed to acknowledge Harry before or during yesterday's service, it was claimed.

'Ironically the only one who has expressed any sympathy towards him is Prince Andrew,' said one source.

'He knows from Sarah Ferguson – and now first-hand – how it feels to be the outsider, which Harry very much is.

'As far as the others are concerned, there is a deep sense of protection towards the Queen and resentment towards Harry. There is little sympathy for him after what he and Meghan said on Oprah.'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused the Royals of institutional racism during the bombshell 90-minute interview last month and claimed one member of the family – not the Queen or Prince Philip – questioned what colour their son Archie's skin would be.

'They are still very upset,' the source added. 'They are putting on a united front for the Queen. They all think he has behaved appallingly.'

The siblings had maintained stony expressions yesterday as they walked behind their grandfather's cortege, separated by Peter Phillips.

The Duke of Cambridge strode ahead of his brother as they entered the 15th Century chapel, and once inside the atmosphere remained frosty.

William sat with Kate directly opposite Harry but did not appear to make eye contact, instead preferring to focus his gaze towards his grandfather's coffin.

However, it was reported last week that William had spoken briefly with his brother on the phone, although the source said communication had been 'more texts than calls'.

Harry has spoken to his cousin Princess Eugenie who remains a steadfast friend. 'He is thought to have seen Eugenie, most likely outside since she's being strict with her new baby,' said the insider. According to one report, William requested that Peter Phillips stand between him and Harry during the funeral cortege.

Asked about the claim, a friend of Harry said: 'He's just doing what he's told and getting on with it.'

The last time the brothers were seen together in public was on March 9 last year when they attended a Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey – with the tension between the Cambridges and Sussexes clear to see.

Aides were yesterday reported to have 'been walking on eggshells' all week as the funeral plans were tweaked, but there was relief that the brothers have spoken and done so publicly.

The princes talked while walking out of St George's Chapel following the service, in a sight which triggered hopes among royal fans of a reconciliation.

As the Royals filed out of the chapel, Prince William spoke to the Right Reverend David Conner, the Dean of Windsor, while Harry chatted with Kate behind them.

William was initially ahead of his wife and brother but turned back towards them to speak to Kate while Harry exchanged pleasantries with the Dean.

Harry then caught up with his brother and sister-in-law and they walked together for a while as William removed his face mask.

Then, Kate stepped away to speak to the Countess of Wessex and her daughter Lady Louise – leaving the brothers alone.

The brothers' discussion came following an impromptu decision by some of the Royal Family to walk back to the castle, despite state cars having been put on for them - and it gave the cameras a chance to see them talk.

Harry's friend Tom Bradby, who was presenting ITV's coverage of the funeral today, said: 'Funerals are a time of reconciliation and that a sight, let's be honest, that's many wanted to see. Not least the family itself.'

I'm sure the brothers will sought themselves out. Especially Harry as he spilled the beans and said his brother and Father were 'trapped'. I'm sure he'll watch his p's and q's because anything he says now will be taken out of context by the press.

As you say Hola 'spill the beans'  I am wondering if someone is not threatening to  blackmail!  There has been so many stories that someone is not his father one has to start to wonder.   Prince Charles has gone into seclusion after the funeral he seems so worried.  Non of this was a worry till Harry got married it makes one wonder what is going on.

HM is still getting around by herself.

Queen will mark her 95th on Wednesday with a tiny coterie | Daily Mail Online

Celia - Yes it's good to see the Queen out and about so soon after the funeral.  I made it a point, when my husband died to keep as busy as possible. I still met up with my friends for Coffee and started the hard job of going through papers and clothing that were not needed any longer.  I still had moments of grief and when I had a shower I'd cry my eyes out and then say, "Wash the tears away, he's gone to a better place". It's so sad to see some people who can never get over their grief.

It must be terrible Hola, don't know how I would cope, hope I go first.

Toot - My husband had been very ill for a couple of years and I always prayed he would go first. He always told friends, "I don't know know how she puts up with me, I would hate her to go first, I couldn't survive without  her". He was my treasure.

Sinn Fein apologises for IRA's 1979 assassination of Prince Philip's uncle Louis Mountbatten - 24 hours after Duke's funeral

Lord Mountbatten was killed in 1979 when the IRA blew up his yacht while he was holidaying with family in Ireland. His 14-year-old grandson and the boatman, 15, were also killed in the blast.

On 27 August 1979, Lord Mountbatten went lobster-potting and tuna fishing in his 30-foot wooden boat, Shadow V, which had been moored in the harbour at Mullaghmore, a small seaside village and the location of his summer home, Classiebawn Castle. Provisional Irish Republican Army member Thomas McMahon had slipped onto the unguarded boat during the night and attached a radio-controlled bomb weighing 50 pounds. When Mountbatten and his party were aboard, just a few hundred yards from the shore, the bomb was detonated by the IRA’s South Armagh brigade.

The boat was destroyed by the force of the blast, and Mountbatten's legs were almost blown off. Mountbatten, then aged 79, was pulled alive from the water by nearby fishermen, but died from his injuries before being brought to shore. Also aboard the boat were his elder daughter Lady Patricia Brabourne, her husband Lord John Brabourne, their twin sons Nicholas and Timothy Knatchbull, John's mother Doreen, dowager Lady Brabourne, and Paul Maxwell, a young crew member from County Fermanagh. Nicholas 14 and Paul 15 were killed by the blast and the others were seriously injured. Doreen, Lady Brabourne, aged 83, died from her injuries the following day.

That was Princess Anne there expecting Peter Phillips who we just saw standing between the two princes on Saturday.  How the years roll around.

Daughter of Holocaust survivor whose family was hidden by Prince Philip's mother Princess Alice in 1943 says story of the 'courageous act' must keep being told in her memory

Evy Cohen, 65, whose family was hidden by Duke of Edinburgh's mother Princess Alice in 1943 told The Sun that the story of the 'courageous act' must keep being told in her memory.

After peace talks with Prince Charles and Prince William, Prince Harry is reportedly staying in Britain for the Queen’s birthday.

Wonder how true this is.

It is so hard for some to forgive. I only hope Prince's Charles, William and Harry can at last be on good speaking terms.  Life is too short and who knows  how much time  Queen Elizabeth has.? I'm sure she would love to see them reconcile.

I was just reading that Harry has already flown home, he didn't see his grandmother on her birthday, or perhaps she didn't want to see him!!

That's very sad and you make a good point - perhaps she didn't want to see him.  I guess we'll never know.

Prince Harry to leave Britain without having one-on-one with Prince Charles

London: The Duke of Sussex will return to California without having a private meeting with his father, according to sources.

Many family members had hoped the pair would take the opportunity to spend some time together alone, to air their differences face to face.

But despite a 16,000 kilometre-trip, Prince Harry was either unable, or unwilling, to pin down the Prince of Wales, who is still coming to terms with the death of his father.

While Harry's travel plans have not been disclosed, he is thought likely to return home to his pregnant wife, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, and their son Archie, who turns two next month, within the next day or two.

The lack of any time spent with his father suggests that feelings over his Oprah Winfrey interview are still running high and the fallout remains raw.

Having quarantined for the requisite five days after landing in the UK last week, ahead of the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, Prince Harry would have been able to abandon self-isolation on taking a private coronavirus test under the "test to release" scheme.

He is thought to have had at least two days following Saturday's service in which to catch up with friends or family members. Should relations have thawed sufficiently with his brother, he would certainly have liked to catch up with his young nephews and niece - Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five and Prince Louis, who turns three on Friday.

The two elder children return to school following the Easter holidays today, meaning they would have been back in London yesterday, should such a visit have been an option.

Prince Harry is also particularly close to his cousin, Princess Eugenie, who is thought to be staying with her parents at Royal Lodge, not far from his Frogmore Cottage base on the Windsor estate, and who has recently given birth to her first child, August.

He may also have wanted to take the opportunity to see friends, or hold meetings with some of his remaining UK-based charities, which include WellChild and the Invictus Games Foundation.

Prince Charles, 72, was said to have been furious about the Sussexes' decision to discuss private family matters on television and "let down" by his son and daughter-in-law.

A source close to him said the "incendiary" interview had caused pain and division and that trust in the couple had been eroded.

"It goes against everything the Prince of Wales believes in. He believes diversity is the strength of our society," one source told a newspaper.

"The Duke of Sussex continues to say he respects his grandmother, but he has ridden roughshod over the institution she represents."

While Prince Harry and Prince William made a point of chatting together as they strolled back up the hill from St George's Chapel following the funeral on Saturday, Harry was not seen interacting with his father.

They are thought to have spent at least an hour together, alongside other family members including the Prince William and te Duchess of Cambridge, following the funeral service, away from the cameras.

But many believe the damage caused by the Sussexes' allegations about racism and mental health is so deep that chances of meaningful reconciliation in the short-term are slim.

A Buckingham Palace statement said of the claims that "while some recollections may vary", the issues raised by the Sussexes would be "addressed by the family privately".

Queen's message of thanks to the nation on her 95th birthday: Grieving monarch says royals have been 'deeply touched' by 'support and kindness' after Philip's funeral as she marks occasion for the first time without himPrince Philip's death: Queen's message to the nation on her 95th birthday

In her first comments (main) since Prince Philip's death, the monarch thanked well-wishers across the globe for the tributes paid to her husband which have 'deeply touched' the royal family. The Queen said she and her family were in a 'period of great sadness' but were comforted by words of praise for Philip, who died peacefully at Windsor aged 99. Her Majesty said: 'I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate. While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world. My family and I would like to thank you all for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days. We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.' Earlier today, Buckingham Palace shared a photo of the steadfast monarch at a royal engagement (left) with a message wishing her happy birthday. Instead of sharing their own posts, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Instagram accounts re-posted the radiant photo of Her Majesty. Also pictured are the Queen and Prince Philip in 2007 in a photo to mark their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

:) Think the Queen enjoys a good laugh too.

I am sure they both did RnR, I was reading some time back they loved it when things went wrong when they were visiting places that put a smile on their faces.  Must be awful having to keep a straight face when things are boring for them over the years.
