Scott Morrison says Australian politicians will NOT follow Jacinda Ardern's lead and take pay cuts

The Australian Prime Minister who earns an annual salary of $549,250, is not planning to follow in the footsteps of New Zealand.

Typical of Scomo and his mob, did not expect any less of them, now who do they really care about, I think it is honorable of Jacnida Ardern to show she really cares about her people.

WHO do they think they are? How Australia's $63MILLION yearly spend on the World Health Organisation is almost TWICE as much as China's - but they spend their time sucking up to the Communist regime How much Australia donates to the World Health Organisation

Australian taxpayers donate vastly more money to the World Health Organisation (WHO) than economic powerhouse China and rich countries such as France and Canada, financial documents reveal. US President Donald Trump has announced he will halt funding to the WHO while a 'review is conducted to assess the World Health Organisation's role in severely mismanaging the spread of the coronavirus'. Mr Trump's actions - significant, given the USA is WHO's biggest financial supporter - led to calls from Prime Minister Scott Morrison's own MPs for the UN body to be reformed, or have its funding slashed. Meanwhile, Cabinet ministers on Wednesday expressed shock that the WHO had signed off on China re-opening its 'wet markets' where COVID-19 is believed to have first transmitted from bats to humans. The size of Australia's payments compared with the rest of the world's are laid bare in WHO financial documents, which outline how each country pays both compulsory fees and voluntary contributions to the health agency (the latter depicted above)

So just goes to show how much power China has, what is going on???

China with a population of 1.4billion people give just under $10m!!!

We with a population of 25million give $54.4 million, something wrong somewhere.

Perhaps everyone should do what China does and only give $10.m

Canada has 37m plus population and we still give more.

That is crazy, what does Australia get for their money? And why so much, what do they do with it? Who gets this money?

Another month of pain?

Coronavirus restrictions will be in place for at least four more weeks as Australia continues to reduce the infection rate, Scott Morrison announced today after a National Cabinet meeting.

Wider testing, more rigorous contact tracing involving an app and plans for local lockdowns to combat outbreaks need to be in place before so-called 'baseline restrictions' can be removed across the nation, he said.

But Australia's biggest states will be able to relax some of their harsher restrictions sooner if they chose to do so.

'States and territories that went further than those baselines... will be reviewing those in the meantime,' Mr Morrison said.

I just posted about that on the lockdown topic, very sad for so many small business, caravan parks and especially those effected by the fires.

I wonder if they are waiting until these "apps" they want everyone to download are in place so they have their surveilance systems in place and we will lose our freedom in other ways?.

Also it is a worry waiting too long, it will only be two weeks before winter and will they use winter as an excuse to keep restrictions in place?.

I don't understand when many countries are already lifting restrictions, lets hope that the states can lift the ones they put in place and we just go back to stage one or two, which I cannot even remember what they were now.

Huge crowds ignore social distancing during Friday prayers in Indonesia's Aceh province as nation surpasses Philippines as country with most coronavirus infections in SE Asia

Hundreds of Muslims ignored social distancing by packing close together to attend Friday prayers in Indonesia, as the country surpassed the Philippines for the most coronavirus infections in South-East Asia

The worshippers were pictured on Friday at the Islamic Center mosque in Lhokseumawe, Aceh province, the northernmost part of the island of Sumatra. The Acehnese Muslims - who are native to Aceh - were seen close together as they stood alongside each other (main, bottom centre and bottom right) before kneeling down to pray (bottom left). Very few were wearing masks, despite the infection fears. On Friday, officials in the country reported 407 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number to 5,923. A total of 420 people have died in the country, with the country's health ministry saying 42,000 people have been tested. The infection rate in Indonesia has now surpassed that of the Philippines, which has seen 5,878 confirmed cases and 387 deaths.

Well they think Allah will protect them and if not it was Allah's choice for them to die.

'Come on you guys, you started it': Australia's former foreign minister Alexander Downer says China needs to come clean on coronavirus or it will 'arouse the wrath' of the world

Alexander Downer told the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce that the world will demand answers from China after the pandemic.

So someone else who is suspicious about how the virus started, interesting that so many are now speaking up.

REVEALED: How Australian holidays will change forever after COVID-19 - and why the great Aussie road trip will return

The Federal Government has banned Australians from flying abroad in all but essential circumstances under strict laws designed to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Yes it will see more people holidaying in Australia which will be so great for all those bush fire effected areas. Always prefer a road trip than a plane ride.

Yes it would be healthy for the economy and support all the small business people.

Grandmother, 71, says she was marked as 'do not resuscitate' while in hospital battling coronavirus - despite telling doctors she 'wasn't ready to cark it'

Lorraine Lewis and her partner Stephen Taylor had returned to Australia on a mercy flight after sailing around the Italian coast on a Costa Victoria cruise.

Geez 71 is a bit young to mark as "do not resuscitate", how terrible. Hope she is okay now.

Yes when I first read this early this morning it made me cross, I went to put a Daily Mail comment and they must have taken it off for awhile, I see it has come back!

This lady was in the hospital next to where my husband was last month, I expected better of them I am really disappointed to hear this.

Perhaps we all need to write out a statement to what we want should any of us get this virus and give it to the hospitals concerned with a copy to our children.

It is a pity this Thread doesn't get many readers though.

Australia will see a surge in COVID-19 deaths in the coming days despite the country being on course to ELIMINATE the virus - and 'the next few weeks are absolutely crucial', experts say

There have been 63 coronavirus deaths in Australia and at least 6,508 cases. While more than half have recovered, there are 42 patients on ventilators across the country.

Who are these "experts"? Are they playing God? Yes some more may die because they are not strong enough to fight it off, but also I have read that ventilators are not always the answer as they can put too much pressure on your lungs and some people have weak lungs to begin with.

Yes I have read that also Incognito, I guess it is the luck of the draw.

The professions that will soon qualify for coronavirus testing as ScoMo beefs up Australia's tracing regime before the end of lockdown

Health care workers, retail employees and possibly teachers could qualify for coronavirus testing even if they have no symptoms under a new plan to end lockdown.

Makes me mad!

Exhausted and overworked healthcare workers have their cars TOWED during their shifts and are fined $425 while trying to save lives

Sam Cameron was just one of many nurses forced to pay $425 after finding their cars had been taken away by the Melbourne City Council after finishing a shift.

Councils cashing in, disgusting, just like the police with some of the fines.

Pubs in lockdown get green light to sell TAP beer in takeaway one and two litre glass flagons so the precious brew doesn't go to waste

Carlton & United Breweries is selling tap beer from pubs across Australia in glass bottles in an ingenious effort to save its precious amber fluid from going down the drain.

They could use it as snail bait lol.

I tried that and our snails don't like my husbands beer!  So I read that although it doesn't kill snails it does make them move off the ground, that being used coffee.  So I dry the used coffee powder and then sprinkle it over the garden,  they sure don't like it and then move to higher branches, plants and a small wall which was easier for me to use my size 10 boot!!

Our snails love to hide in the Kangaroo Paws so this brings them out so I can get to them.

Disgusting spitters are warned that they will be publicly shamed after a wave of disgusting acts against hardworking medical staff across the country

New South Wales police commissioner Mick Fuller encouraged victims to come forward, saying he was happy to name and shame attackers online.

Some people are just beyond help with their disgusting behaviors.

Now the CHINESE are considering buying Virgin Australia after the Morrison government refused to bail out embattled airline

China Southern Airlines, China East Airlines and Air China are all in talks about buying the Queensland-based carrier but no formal offer has been made

The owners of Virgin Australia are:-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Australia_Holdings

Virgin Australia Holdings Limited is the holding company that owns and operates Virgin Australia, Virgin Australia International Airlines, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines and Tigerair Australia. It previously operated Pacific Blue Airlines and joint-venture airline Polynesian Blue which were absorbed into Virgin Australia in December 2011. Its head office is located in Bowen Hills, Brisbane.

History[Former Virgin Blue Holdings logo, used until December 2011

Virgin Blue Holdings was formed in 2000 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Virgin Group.

In 2001, the then Air New Zealand owned Ansett Australia made a buyout offer of $250 million, which was publicly rejected by Richard Branson.[1] In 2002, Virgin came to an agreement with Patrick Corporation to invest in the airline, to allow it to grow into a national airline, filling the void following the demise of Ansett Australia.[2] In return for a 50% share of the company, Patrick invested $260 million. At the time, the view was that Patrick's shareholding would also allow the company to benefit from their new shareholder’s political connections with the Howard Government, and also 'Greenwash' the company, allowing it to be described as Australian-owned.[3]

In 2003, Virgin Blue Holdings Limited was floated on the Australian Securities Exchange as Virgin Group sought to sell down its holdings.[2]

In early 2005 Patrick launched a hostile takeover for Virgin Australia Holdings. Patrick had been unhappy for some time with the company's direction. By the closure of the offer, Patrick held 62% of the company, giving it control. Virgin Group retained a 25% share. In 2006, Patrick Corporation was taken over by Toll Holdings, who maintained the ownership of shares in Virgin Blue Holdings. In 2008 the group announced a plan to distribute 98.3% of its shares in the company to its shareholders, thus making itself no longer a majority stakeholder.[4] At the time Toll Holdings owned 62.7% of the company and had previously attempted to sell the share to no avail.[5][6]

In January 2011, Air New Zealand purchased a 15% shareholding in Virgin Blue Holdings.[7] In June 2013 this was increased to 23%.[8] In September 2012, Etihad Airways purchased a 10% shareholding, this was later increased to 20%. A month later Singapore Airlines bought a 10% stake in Virgin Australia Holdings.[9] In April 2013 this was increased to 20%.[10] The same month Virgin Australia Holdings announced it had purchased a 60% stake in Tiger Airways Australia with the transaction concluded in July 2013.[11] Tiger would continue to operate as a low cost subsidiary of Virgin Australia for 20 years.

Currently, Virgin Australia’s main shareholders are Etihad Airways and Singapore Airlines, along with Chinese conglomerates Nanshan Group and HNA Group, as well as original founder Richard Branson. See https://www.flightglobal.com/strategy/canberra-not-keen-to-bail-out-virgin-australia-report/137718.article

Branson has been very quiet lately. Wonder what's happened to him?

Branson is most likely isolated on his island,  maybe there is bad internet connection?
