Meghan and Harry's  baby will be one of the first ever mixed-race heirs born into the British royal family in recent times and 7th in line to the throne. How times have changed and for the better!

                                                         A BIT OF HISTORY

According to Royal protocol, Prince Harry and Meghan’s forthcoming child may not be theirs at all! Great grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, it seems, is able to take over custody of the newborn at a moment’s notice and without the consent of the parents. In fact, the sovereign can assert custody over any of the royal children including Kate and William’s.

The agreement goes back to the 18th century and was reportedly put in place because of a falling out between King George I and his son. Drafted in 1717 and known, as the Grand Opinion for the Prerogative Concerning the Royal Family, the rule effectively means the monarch has a final say over the education, raising and marriage of their grandchildren as well as those of the heir to the throne. At the time it meant King George I was able to veto the choice of godfather for his grandchild against his son’s wishes. The ancient law dates back over 300 years.

This means that when the Queen dies, the custody of royal minors would pass onto Prince Charles.

I have to say I am really enjoying this Royal visit..beautiful couple and lovely rapport with people they meet along the way..

i am not one for the royals,   but have enjoyed watching them this visit,   they both seem like very nice people,   they seem well matched,     the crowds have certainly enjoyed them,

What a lovely setting..yes..I would love to live there! Frogmore Cottage has a delightful history..perfect for Meghan and Harry to start their family!

                               The history of Frogmore Cottage

The original Frogmore House was built between 1680 and 1684 by Charles II's architect Hugh May on estates bought by Henry VIII in the 16th century.

Other buildings on the estate were also built in the 17th century, but stucco-fronted Frogmore Cottage was not built until the early 19th century when Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, lived in Frogmore House with her unmarried daughters.

Abdul Karim, the Indian servant who became one of Victoria’s friends and most trusted advisors, stayed in the cottage when he first came to England as part of the queen’s golden jubilee celebrations in 1887.

Their friendship was the subject of the film Victoria and Abdul, starring Judi Dench and Ali Fazal.

The royal burial ground, where the Duke and Duchess of Windsor are buried and the mausoleum of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stands, is also on the estate.

The Royal Horticultural Society has named a pink-purple clematis flower after the Duchess of Sussex. Known as the Clematis Meghan, the lovely plant flowers twice a year ..both in the spring or early summer. There is a probability it will flower around the time of the birth of their first child!

This is so sweet and so apt especially since Meghan’s Mum  has always called her “flower.”
