“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” (Eleanor Rooseveldt).

Well the time has come.  My year has begun in the most delightful and positive way and I intend to keep it so. My philosophy has always been to surround myself with things and people that make me smile and fill me with joy. If anything costs me a fraction of my peace, it is not worth my time.

So with that in mind, I bid you all farewell...if one can’t change the culture..you have to extricate yourself from the conversation and let it go. There are more important things to attend to..the future is bright in 2020!

Cheerio !

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shared a new picture of baby Archie in a highlight reel of their top moments of 2019.

The candid snap shows Prince Harry standing by a lake in what is thought to be their Canadian Christmas hideaway of Vancouver Island, as he smiles at a beaming Archie, who is dressed in a cute beanie hat, a beige anorak and little sheepskin boots gifted to them by the Australian Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove.

What beautiful little ugg boots :)

The little one looks just like his mother.

Lucky Sydney, yours was for free. How good was that!

Londoners had to buy tickets for the best vantage points.

"2020..the best is yet to come!"

Is that Satan speaking?
Nah, couldn't be since I don't believe in the chappy.
Must be some sort of strange twitter feed from another universe.

Delete!

Anyone who looks for “Satan” can always find it in their own reflection. Everything is in the eye of the beholder.

To an optimist, white horses mean joy, hope, courage and wisdom. Pessimists are scared stiff of white horses..and for very good reason.

Yes, indeed, the best is yet to come in 2020 and for the next decade!

Hello Sophie,

I happen to agree. This year will be a positive follow on from the last ten years. We have just had the best decade in human history. Extreme poverty has fallen below ten per cent of the world’s population. Global inequality has plunged as we see Asia and Africa experiencing faster economic growth than Europe and America. Child mortality has fallen to record low levels, famine is becoming a rare event, many diseases are in decline. Good news is no news - bad news sells and to the moronic pessimists among us, it is sustenance for their nihilistic and dreary existence. It’s what keeps them barely alive. Planet earth does not need them. Australia is not the only country in the world suffering natural disasters - bushfires, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other catastrophes envelop many countries. People, rebuild their lives, that’s what humans do, that's what we as Australians will do.

I am also affected by the state of emergency in NSW, I have friends who have lost homes and businesses in the bushfires in Victoria and NSW. People are quietly getting on with life and doing the best they can under these drastic circumstances. The fake panic by a few on here is appalling. This situation is just what they need to feed their pessimistic perspective on life. Ironically, those residents actually caught up in the full throes of this disaster are not creating anywhere as much hysteria as the spectators. Have a great weekend, we’re waiting, a little on tenterhooks, to see what tomorrow brings in Sydney.

Looks like you made it out on time Sophie. Banjo, we're thinking of you. Will be in touch.

Thank you for a realistic and optimistic post dear Banjo.

Yes..it's always easier to look at the negative side of things and that’s fine from a media perspective, after all that’s how they make their living! If however, one takes the time to look further afield, there are always positive stories waiting to be heard and told.

Negative events will always be present in our lives, but to my way of thinking, optimism is all about reframing those events and looking at the big picture. My Granny used to say “every cloud has a silver lining” and I have lived with that philosophy all my life.

Well, lots to do so cheerio :)))

Nothing negative at the SCG Sophie, must say, despite the circumstances, we are enjoying the cricket!

Enjoy the weekend!

Thank you Banjo..we had a lovely weekend, the weather was perfect and we got a lot of garden stuff done.

Glad you're enjoying the cricket but I have to admit I'm a tennis fan. Perth had a visit from Rafael Nadal and of course his main stop was Rottnest Island to see the quokkas. Good for our tourism, but sigh, our little island is becoming too crowded these days.

Well off to have forty winks..been working since 6am. BTW, like the sound of that "polenta type" dish you mentioned, might have a go at making it :)

Like the title of your thread Sophie. Bit late with this, but...
