That is a good story fwed, except it is fundamentaly WRONG.

Jackie Kelly's husband Gary Clark & Ken Higgs did hand out the cards

that you refer to. However, they never intended to deceive voters into

voting for Jackie Kelly. You stated:-

And so it actually said “How To Save the ADI Site” and the number one

preference was Jackie Kelly.

You are promoting incorrect information again.

Maybe I did not explain things clearly enough.

Ms Kelly’s husband, Gary Clark, and NSW Liberal Party state executive member Jeff Egan were caught distributing bogus pamphlets in Lindsay portraying Labor as sympathisers of Islamic terrorists at the 2007 election.

The item I posted about the ADI was at a previous election.

You are promoting incorrect information again

Sorry innes but what I said is fact.

Do your homework before being critical.

Perhaps the "fundamental misunderstanding" actually applies to the Australian voter. I dont believe that we are a bunch of naive nongs who dont understand the voting system. For example, I know that I would not be voting for Gillard or Abbot, but should I vote for either Labour or Liberal, I would be voting for a party under their nominal control. ANY elected politician is subject to the policies and dictates of the party and are often (if not always) REQUIRED to vote along party lines.

So, the great candidate whom I may like and or trust/respect is actually only as good as the party who put him/her into the seat. Those who "buck the system" have to face the pre-selection gauntlet before the next election.

What you stated would be interpreted by any reader who did not know

the actual facts, as reading that Gary Clark handed out bogus how to vote

cards to get votes for Jackie Kelly. The facts are that Gary was never

involved in any way, with any election campaign for his wife. In actual

fact, their marriage almost did not take place because Gary initially told

Jackie that he would not marry her unless she resigned her seat. Also,

your info regarding the earlier election came, entirely from, untested

statements made by Jeff Egan in Hobart. If these statements were true,

why has the Electoral Commission not laid charges?

The facts are that Gary was never

involved in any way, with any election campaign for his wife.

Obviously you wish to argue with whatever I say even when you must know that you do not know what you are talking about.

In a hearing before magistrate Geoff Bradd at the Downing Centre Local Court, Gary Clark, the husband of former federal Liberal MP Jackie Kelly, was convicted of breaching the electoral act by handing out bogus pamphlets in the Howard government minister's former seat of Lindsay.

The pamphlets, which purported to come from a radical Islamic group that supported the Labor Party, did not include the names and addresses of the person authorising the material or the printer.

OzVotersOnline.com.au is a new online voting opinion poll which allows Australian citizens the opportunity to record their vote on issues of the day, between elections whether they be Federal, State or Local Government.

ozvotersonline.com.au can enable interested voters a say on all proposed legislation, including Ordinances and Regulations, prior to debating and enacting legislation in the Parliaments - thus encouraging citizens ongoing participation in our democracy.

This is not like the ordinary opinion polls, where you have to wait to be approached, and with the numbers polled 2000 persons throughout Australia, their limited polling sample results cannot validly be considered statistically relevant to the whole community, at any given point of time.

jesse, it is strange that you find no fault when Liberals hand out bogus how to vote cards where a person was convicted.

There was no conviction in the SA case and the electoral Commission said there is no "technical breach" of the Electoral Act.

That is not to say I agree with what Labor did in their handing out of those cards. They were meant to deceive and that is not cricket.

I do not agree with any party handing out bogus cards whether they be Liberal or Labor or any other party or individual.

Toot, they give no indication as to who owns or runs the site. I'm always suspicious if people aren't willing to put a name to something like that.

How do we know who is collecting the information, or where it's going?

I agree and that is why I did not sign up.

FYI the site is owned by Oberon Enterprises Pty Ltd.

They are a company with ABN 33001559520

The Registrant is Brian Buckley.

I think Oberon is a town in NSW although googling Oberon Enterprises did not give any results in the first 2 pages.

Googling Brian Buckley I got "Brian Buckley is a public policy consultant" Might not be the same person though.

fwed, I do know what I am talking about. I am fully aware that Gary (Jackie's

husband) gave out these unauthorised cards. It was for the 2007 election

ONLY, & his wife had already resigned & did NOT stand. They were given

out by 3 people & the third one who you didn't mention was the candidate's

husband, Greg Chijoff. The entire scheme was dreampt up by Karen

Chijoff's (the actual candidate, NOT Jackie Kelly) husband & Karen was not

even aware that it was happening. It actually cost them their marriage.

Karen was so embarassed that as soon as the divorce went through, she

sold her home & changed her name. John Howard actually told Karen that

her husband's actions cost him the election.

I did not get my info by changing the details from newspaper reports. All

the people involved, except Jeff Egan were & still remain personal friends.

Thanks for finding that out Fwed, I just saw it in the paper this morning, I haven't signed up yet but probably will, you don't have to give personal details, just email address. Don't forget to watch Hawke at 8.30pm on Channel 10 tonight. We'll find out what the grey bodgie and Keating got up to.

After watching this morally bankrupt man (Hawke) for an hour, I couldn't take any more and went to bed.

It was totally boring toot2000 & disappointing. I did the same as you.
