This Thread is about how a person who had a stroke in May 2021 is experiencing life AFTER the stroke. My Ups and Downs.

Has anyone had radiation treatment in Australia over the last couple of years please?

Husband has just been given the costing and it doesn't make any sense.

Medicare pays $20,000

If you have to have radiation treatment you are expected to pay a further $620,00 a week for five weeks.

Even if you are on a Part Pension or Pension!

One wonders what the young are thinking in their busy days?

This was taken Boxing Day for our youngest member of our family.

He is five.

What a lovely photo Celia. He certainly looks lost in thought.

Lovely photo Celia.

Thank you ladies!

He is a sweet little boy that loves his trucks and sand pile!

He lives a fair way from us unfortunately about an hour, I wish they lived closer to help his mum she has her trials too as her own mother has cancer.   Life is never easy but we can help where we can.

Celia - I'm sure he has the day worked out. They are on the go all the time.  I wish my boys were 5 again.

He is down the beach with their dog and mum at the moment and then coming here for a roast and rhubarb and apple crumble!  LOL

I guess the trucks will come with him!

I hope all the people that are struggling to sort out the frustrations of having a store will find 2020 a brighter and happier year with their health and happiness.           Some days are much easier than others I have found but I hope you are able to enjoy and smell the roses in our life and receive lots of love and hugs from your family and friends as you plod along!

Love to you all this New Year 2020

Wishing you a Happy 2022 as well Celia.

On this first day of the New Year I thought rather than put sad news up I must find something happy and beautiful to share with people that have suffered a stroke or anyone that enjoys beautiful things.

We have a Gardening Thread so I cannot put that!

I thought I would find something that is beautiful to behold in the eye!

Jeweler!

I remember years ago there was a art of Mosaics in jewelers and I have looked for that to share I hope you enjoy them.

I am thinking how like the eye is so dainty like mosaic!

The intricacies of the working of the eye in my case it was damaged due to the Stroke the swelling has gone down according to the doctors the brain damage too so although my sight is not as good as it was in one area it is legal for me to drive again.  Personally I cannot notice hardly any difference now and I hope it doesn't alter.

Very pretty Lucca but the topic is not jewelry it is about mosaics.

I have always loved Ceylonese Sapphires that you have one there!  I have one in a dress ring with diamonds my parents gave me for my 21st Birthday, many moons ago now!

Thanks for sharing the photo of the lovely brooch.

Have you seen the Mosaics of Greek and Italian times that have been found deep in the soils of this world?    It is amazing to see that so many have survived so long.

So pleased you are on the mend Celia. May you fully recover as time passes.

Thank you for sharing pictures of those lovely mosaic broaches.

Just beautiful sentiment and flower mosaic jewellery ... thanks Celia ... brightened my New Years Day.

Well I doubt I will live that long!

Betty White posted final tweet to celebrate her upcoming 100th birthday just three days before she died of 'natural causes' at home: Biden leads tributes to legendary Golden Girls star

Betty White dies at 99: Legendary actress passes away just weeks before her milestone

America's beloved golden girl, Betty White, has died at the age of 99 - little more than two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. She leaves behind a massive legacy as a comedienne, actress, author, animal rights activist and one of the first female pioneers in television. In a business where longevity is rare, she broke the mold. With her dimpled smile and wicked sense of humor; she lit up television screens and delighted audiences in hundreds of sitcoms, commercials and films throughout her eight-decade-long career in Hollywood. Her roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Golden Girls turned her into a household fixture; while her appearance on SNL at the age of 88 cemented her designation as a 'national treasure.' She holds the Guinness Record for 'Longest TV Career for an Entertainer;' her 80-year devotion to showbiz also earned her eight Emmy Awards, 21 nominations and legions of fans who will always remember her quick wit and top drawer comedic timing.

R.I.P. Betty White. She was a wonderful actress . My favourite film of her was The Golden Girls.

One of my favourite actors James Garner!

The photos show James Garner, Charles Bronson and friends enjoying tankards of beer as part of celebrations of Oktoberfest - the traditional German beer festival that takes place in the autumn. The photos are being auctioned off as part of the late Garner's personal archive which is expected to fetch up to £370,000 ($500,000)

Some interesting photos on your link Celia ... the Great Escape was such an iconic film.

Yes it was;  it reminds me of my elder sons friend from Kindy!

He was in the Australian Army, he was captured in North Africa by Rommels troops and actually had a chat with Rommel, the was send to a German Camp and tried to escape several times, the last time he was lucky!  However, he got to Serbia and then down to the mountains and joined Tito's Band!

He said each time he asked when do we get to the sea, the same reply ways over the next mountain! Of course that never happened till the end of the war itself!   But there are not many people that can say they had spoken to both Rommel and Tito.

Tito governed the Parisans before he was Yugoslavia's President.

Celia,

Your son's friend from kindy should write a book.  If he doesn't think he is up to it, he could get a ghost writer to help. I'm certain it would sell very well.

We all have our problems in life don't we!

That's one way to snag an upgrade! 7FT 1IN man reveals he was 'kicked off' a plane because he couldn't FIT in the exit-row seat (but he landed a spot in first class as an apology)

Giant 7-foot man forced to switch airplanes since he can't fit in the seat - upgraded to

Beau Brown, 29, from Atlanta, Georgia, stands at a whopping 7 feet 1 inches - which can make some aspects of his life, like flying, a serious challenge. On a recent short-haul flight to North Carolina from Georgia, he specifically booked his seat on an exit row so he would have more room for his long legs. But, when it came time to board and sit down, he quickly realized that he couldn't fit - and was forced to switch planes. He said his knees touched the seats in front of his, and he was pined in, unable to sit down or get up. Beau was worried the airline wouldn't accommodate his size, but instead, they bumped him up to first class to apologize after booking him on a different flight.

Unlike hundreds of thousands of other German Jews, Ilse, Ursel and Marianne Liedtke escaped deportation to concentration camps. Marianne's son has penned a gripping family memoir (pictured right) about how the sisters erased their Jewish identity and survived against the odds. They converted to Cahtolicism after their father Ernst's death, as the powerful Catholic Church had a duty, at least in theory, to protect its flock. Pictured left: Marianne, Ursel and Ilse.

You can try doing some mosaic tile stepping stones for your garden

Hi Suze

Used to have a go at that over 25 years ago when I was big into ceramics and made a few things, I am heading for 80 and think I am a bit long in the tooth for that these days but thanks for thinking of me.

How repugnant!

He obviously wants to look evil.

Man spends $23,500 on extreme body modification including dyeing his eyeballs, splitting his tongue and tattooing his face to look like a JIGSAW in bid to 'look as inhuman as possible'Man spends £12,500 in a bid to make himself 'as inhuman as possible'

A man who wants to look as 'inhuman as possible' has spent the equivalent of $23,500 on tattoos and body modification (pictured). The extreme body modification artist, 28, from the Ore Mountains, Germany, known only by his Instagram handle 'Black Depression' has tattooed his face to look like a jigsaw puzzle, had chunks of ear cartilage removed, ears and nose pierced, and stretched and dyed his eyeballs. The artist has also had both rows of his teeth crowned in titanium, as well as his tongue split.

What a thing to do to a healthy body;  I have noticed more and more since my stroke how many people abuse their healthy bodies from doing this to smoking.  I find it so sad.  They do not appreciate their good health.

That looks so disgusting. Obviously he would be unemployable so I wonder where he gets the money to pay for all this disfigurement.?

Reminds me of my Girl Guide camp in Kent back in those days!

Newly colourised pictures from the early 1950s reveal life in rural Kent in a makeshift

The pictures show groups of children laughing and playing (top and bottom right) as they live in caravans in rural Kent in the 1950s, in the aftermath of a world war that crippled Britain financially. The series of charming photographs show young children riding their bikes and playing Ring a Ring o' Roses outside as they grow up in an unidentified makeshift caravan town. Other incredible images show mothers sitting with their babies on their laps (left) as they boil kettles on cookers, and groups of children sitting on the floor inside the caravans.

The insightful photographs showed children standing outside, next to their rows of make-shift washing lines, while rubbish was strewn across the floor

We put our camp down on a farmers field, but we never saw the gypsies!

Lovely photos, thanks Celia.
