People under 30 will not be offered the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine because of fears it may be linked to extremely rare blood clots.

Britain’s medicine regulators have now found 79 cases of concerning blood clots in people given the jab, 19 of whom died. All had the unusual combination of also having a low platelet count — the same symptoms as those identified in other countries.

Describing the move as a “course correction” in the vaccination program, Jonathan Van-Tam, the deputy chief medical officer, emphasised that cases were very rare and the balance of risk was still very much in favour of the jab.

He said that changing to the new regimen, which would mean people aged 18-29 would received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Australia secures additional Pfizer vaccine following AstraZeneca concerns

• Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the additional doses would mean Australia would receive 40 million Pfizer doses this year, the additional doses would be available in quarter four 2021.

• Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows about 11.3 million Australians are aged 18 to 49 years. Obtaining 40 million Pfizer vaccines will be enough to vaccinate 20 million people, with each needing two doses.

• So far in Australia only one person, a 44-year-old Melbourne man, has developed clots after getting vaccinated.

An 82-year-old QLD woman received a dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the Springwood Yurana Aged Care Facility on Wednesday morning and died in the afternoon.

The case is being investigated.

The investment firm says that Mr Soriot should be defending the jab more forcefully. The criticism comes after another top shareholder, Royal London, rallied to Mr Soriot's defence saying his efforts during the pandemic have been 'heroic'. The AstraZeneca company has said Mr Soriot plans to return as soon as travel restrictions are lifted.

Many of the nation’s GPs are refusing to offer AstraZeneca’s vaccine to people under 50 until the federal government urgently clarifies legal liability if patients suffer serious or fatal side effects.

GPs are warning they could face expensive lawsuits if they advised a patient under 50 to have AstraZeneca’s vaccine and there was a severe side effect.

Go get a jab, publicly report it, tell everyone you have not had any issues in what, a couple of weeks, but wait for a few months or a year, which is still not a long enough test to PROVE is is safe.

The colour of the needle used in the Prime Minister's vaccination was spun as misinformation on Facebook, but there's a simple explanation

The most common allegation shared on Mr Morrison's posts was that the orange tip of the hypodermic needle seen directed towards the Prime Minister's arm was a "cap" preventing Mr Morrison from being given the vaccine.

Catherine Bennett, the chair of epidemiology at Deakin University, told Fact Check the orange section of the needle was not a cap, but rather "the hub that holds the needle".

She added that contrary to the assertions on Facebook, the needle used on Mr Morrison would have been an intramuscular needle, and that the "low dead space" needles used for the Pfizer vaccine did not follow the same colour coding as suggested by the commenter.

• Scott Morrison has said the government would no longer be setting targets for the delivery of COVID vaccines. He said there were no plans to set any new targets for completing first doses, abandoning the plan to have all Australians vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the year.

• After GP liability concerns, the AMA vice-president Chris Moy says if a patient makes an informed decision to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine, GPs are protected under professional indemnity insurance.

PM concedes all Australians may not be vaccinated by end of year.

“While we would like to see these doses completed before the end of the year, it is not possible to set such targets given the many uncertainties involved,” Mr Morrison said.

“We will just get on with the job of working together to produce, distribute and administer the vaccines as safely and efficiently as possible.”

Chinese vaccines “don’t have very high protection rates,” said the director of the China Centers for Disease Control, Gao Fu, at a conference Saturday in the southwestern city of Chengdu.

Beijing has distributed hundreds of millions of doses abroad while trying to promote doubt about the effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine made using the previously experimental messenger RNA, or mRNA, process.

It has been said there are 7 deaths of blood clotting from the covid vaccine in the UK, but what isn't said that there are still those fighting for life after the vaccine which totals 179.

Heard from a dear friend who lives interstate and his friend who bought the property across from our old place has 2 brothers in the UK. One dies after the Covid 19 vaccine, the other is so ill he is just about living in the hospital.

Strange we do not hear of any of this? It seems we only here of controls that are working to stem the spread (but how really truthful is that?), or how many are surviving the vaccine with no affects (is that really true?). I no longer believe the reporters even more so if Rupert Murdock is in ownership of it.

Are those in Government stupid? I believe so. They might try to hide the truth but there are too many on the Net who have friends and family overseas and they are in the know, and will tell you exactly what is going on.

My dear friend has another friend in the UK who has 2 sons, all have not had the vaccine shot, and all had covid-19 awhile ago now, and recovered within 7 - 10 days.

Something to ponder.........Scomo said no more Astrazenaca jabs for those under 50. Now all who are 51 plus are concerned about it and rightly so. Is this useless human being trying to kill off all the seniors from 51 onwards? Mmmm Food for thought.
