The LIONS saved from Putin: British Army veterans extract nine lions facing starvation at a Ukrainian zoo in daring mission British Army veterans save nine lions facing starvation at a Ukrainian zoo in daring

Animal rescue groups Breaking the Chains and Warriors of Wildlife travelled to the war-torn Black Sea port of Odessa on Monday in the largest ever big-cat rescue from an active war. The nine lions were facing starvation at their home in the Biopark, Odesa, where supplies of meat were running dangerously low because of the war. If Russian missiles damaged the animal enclosures, civilians would be in serious danger from the loose predators. The group travelled thousands of miles across three borders over 72 hours to carry out the rescue

Great to read.

LOL ... the cat description sounds like that of his former PM owner.

Ha Ha Ha - Good one RnR.  Maybe he needs the 'snip", the cat that is.

Shame it is very hard, we have just adopted a  new cat, the ladies in the Rescue are tearing their hear out trying to find good homes for both cats and dogs because of the rental situation; also because of people not having their animals de-sexed and they are breeding more kittens and pups.  Wish Australian people would be more responsible with their pets and not let them breed so much.

Frightening moment man fights for his life when rogue kangaroo chases and tackles him before he pulls out an MMA-style move - so who wins the epic battle of the species?

Astonishing footage from Ballina, NSW, shows a man sprinting away from a powerful eastern grey kangaroo before stumbling and hitting the ground. The angry marsupial then stomps on the man, who gets back on his feet desperately clutching a stick and swinging it wildly in self-defence, before pinning down the aggressive animal with an MMA-style choke-hold.

A friend of ours, many years ago took his family to an Animal Park in the outskirts of Sydney. His young son, about 4 years of age wanted to pat a kangaroo. As he approached it, it immediately grabbed him and tried to take him away. Dad jumped in and tried to grab his son. The kangaroo immediately attacked him ripping his shirt and jeans to shreds. The caretakers of the Park jumped in to rescue Dad. He had to go to hospital as his face was bleeding badly and needed Microsurgery. He was on the news that evening and the reporter asked the caretaker why would  the kangaroo attack the Dad. He said it was breeding time and that's how the males behave. They shouldn't be aloud to be near people. The Animal Park didn't even offer to pay for his medical bills or pay for new clothes. This was over 40 years ago and people never thought to take legal action, as they do today.

Muzzle your moggies! To you, he's adorable Mr Tibbles. To the 270 million small animals savaged each year by cats, he's a serial killer. Now an outspoken peer will make fur fly with his radical solution

VISCOUNT MONCKTON: Muzzling cats will not hurt them. Many dogs are muzzled when they go out and about. A cat curfew might be hard to enforce, but muzzles are a simple solution.

Zookeepers said the feline licked his paws and brushed his mane to create the unusually straightened look for the style, reminiscent of tennis player Andre Agassi in the 90s.

The heat shock prompted glaciers in the Himalaya, Hindu Kush and Karkoram mountain ranges to quicken their rapid melting.

Around 30 glacial lakes created by recent heat rises are now at risk of hazardous flooding.

That makes seven million people directly vulnerable, authorities said.

A UN report published in April said humanity has experienced between 350 to 500 medium or large scale disasters each year globally in the past two decades.

But the Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNODRR) expects to see this number increase to about 560 catastrophes a year by 2030 as climate change continues.

The pictures feature Christian the cub who was bought from Harrods in 1969 by Australians socialites John Rendall and Anthony 'Ace' Bourke. The famous department store used to have a pet shop that sold a variety of wild animals including rare birds, lions and even an alligator.

Fur Queen and Country! Adorable dogs don Union flag bandanas, bowties and leads as they join in on Jubilee celebrationsAdorable dogs don Union flag bandanas for Jubilee weekend

Adorable corgis, Labradors and German shepherds were among the dogs donning Union flag regalia and joining in on the Jubilee celebrations this weekend. Revellers raised a glass to the Queen for her 70 years on the throne as they packed out pubs and bars last night - while many enjoyed a glass of Pimms and bite to eat at street parties during the day. And while many sported British-inspired clothing and accessories, it was the patriotic pooches that stole the show. Mayor of Warwick Richard Edgington posed with two handsome corgis - famously the Queen's favourite dog - outside a florist (top left). Also pictured, Labradors in a Union flag, a German shepherd in Cheshire, a King Charles Spaniel in London, and Spaniels in Devon

Can you spot the hidden Corgi?
