Which Allen's lolly would you like to see 'go solo'?

Lovers of lollies Australia-wide have assailed Allen’s, asking for their favourite party mix sweets to be sold separately.

The candy company has been inundated with calls for peaches and cream, black cats and racing car lollies to have their own bag on the shelf, so, instead of running from consumer criticism, Allen’s is now running an online poll asking which Classic Party Mix treat customers would like to see packaged solo.

With bananas, red frogs, snakes, pineapples, milk bottles, jelly babies, and strawberries and cream lollies already sold separately from the party mix, and after a successful campaign by consumers of Jelly Dots managed to swing a solo selection, lolly-lovers are hoping the same tactic will work for their favourite fun fare.

So will racing cars beat the black cats over the line? Or will black cats spell bad luck for peaches and cream and the racing car lollies? Or will they all get a solo deal, making it peaches and cream for the lot of them? We'll find out ...

Do you have a Classic Party Mix favourite? Which sweet would you like to see packaged separately?

I'm not a sugar eater as such, every now and again I have a break out, don't know why I just need it so I have a little sugar fix and I'm right again..... Black Cats for me to.....

Look here Rick :) I cannot ever remember saying 1,500 cals. was 'very low' for a smallish bloke?

If once again I remember correctly. you said you ate 1,200 a day for which I know I said "that seems a bit low".

I eat around 1,800-2,000 a day and stay at 56k's and happy with that for me.

Any Allens lolly which has choc. on it will do me thanks, but I love choc. so when I want choc. desperately, have sometimes two 50g bars for lunch and then it is gone and not in the house.

Life is for living in my way of thinking, and I do not believe even the experts know what is good or bad for each person's metabolic rate or make-up. We can do anything we want now can't we, and if it makes us happy "go for it" say's I lol.

If Folk saw what Peter and I take they would be horrified lol - our choice. Are we super healthy???

nah...lol

SORRY I went off topic my bad.

Sounds good to me Phyl   :)

It is up to each of us to eat what we like. I think most of us have been around long enough to be able to make a decision on that and not be guided by some quack like person who thinks we should all eat his/her way.

Ahhhhh, Chocolate !!...

I'd rather be a chocoholic than a drug dependant depressant which I would be if I didn't have my chocolate fix...

It makes me well balanced, happy, cheerful, fulfilled and aimiable.....and maybe a tad overweight..

But that is good for a clown, it makes me more lovable...:)

What no one else fessing up to being a sweet tooth?

Thats a shame as this topic would allow a little sweetness into the forum and give the sour pusses a break from the constant bickering...

it's amazing how a few lollies can give the mood a lift...

Try some, It could make your day ! LOL....

Here you go Cranky and anyone with a sweet-tooth a selection :)

I love Cadbury's dark with almonds, also Abby, yummy.

Is that why you kept it all for yourself ??

Some things 'are' sacred :)

I agree Phyll Cadburys dark chocolate with almonds is sacred and very good for you ....

Is  that really a picture of you Brocky? Good Lord!

Afraid so, afraid so my friend. Looks like he needs some nourishment. Could explain his frantic behaviour.

I believe you are right Mikhail. His grand daughter looks nice though.

Sugar is not all bad, with so much hype people are getting unduly worried. Each body is made up of trillions of cells. These cells form the building blocks for the tissues and organs of our body. In other words. Simply put:  Our cell health is vital to overall health, so if the cells are nourished we have the right foundation for a nourished body.

Each minute of each day, it’s the job of cells to produce energy, and cells have to convert nutrients from foods we eat into useable energy. Sugar in the form of glucose is the most efficient fuel source. When the cells in our bodies are not supplied with enough glucose to do the job they should do, they  have to find other means and they do this either by Lipolysis (fat breakdown) and Gluconeogenesis (new sugar creation from our own body tissue).

These processes require the release of adrenaline and cortisol—our “fight or flight” hormonal responses. This is why so many people have impressions of clarity, experience quick weight loss, and report having a lot of energy when turning to a no-sugar or low-carb diet. What is really happening is their bodies are thriving off adrenaline and cortisol.  While one can get away with living off adrenaline and cortisol for a short while, it can’t last indefinitely because the body is not designed to live off stress hormones.

In fact, getting rid of sugar can destroy metabolism and lead to a weakened immune system, poor digestion, play havoc with sexual and reproductive functioning and very important, it can make people age faster.

So, sugar is important in one’s daily diet, one just has to know how to limit intake. Coming back to Allen’s lollies, not a huge fan but a few a day can do no harm. Let’s not forget, the most important thing next to diet, is exercise. I run a gym and always have a bowl of sweets handy.

What do you put the epidemic of obesity and diabetes in the developed countries down to .?

I am sorry Rick, only just saw your question. The anwer is very long and complicated and this is a thread about lollies. There is however a lot of stuff on the internet and from that you are able to draw your own conclusions. Here is a very short reply from me:

Obesity is generally caused by eating too much and moving too little. If you consume high amounts of energy from your diet, particularly from fat and sugars, but do not burn off the energy through exercise and physical activity, much of the surplus energy is then stored by the body as fat. I can't stress enough the importance of exercise.

Reagan,

Rick (Brocky) will contradict anything you say. Don't waste your time with him.

Agree Reagan, the little fella is a complete waste of time.

Love the new avatar Reagan LOL

Oh No....Not that American clown with the white face and orange hair again...

I thought this was Lolly shop !!

I love the Black cats and I agree with Reagan about sugar in our deit but who cares you only enjoy life as you see it.

I cannot imagine a day without exercise., bit of yoga and sitting under my Pyramid doing a bit of oommming :). Whatever suits us as individuals, most especially once we hit the 1/2 hundred year mark whatever we enjoy. Then that's me, and to be perfectly honest do not care whatever anyone, chooses re living their lives. :)

Ooops sorry a "lolly" post" does that really matter lol.

How much Resveratrol and  Q10 do you use per day Rick/Brocky??

I would like to know too. Can you please give an answer Rick/Brocky. Thanks.

PS.Great new avatar Mikhail

Guess he's not going to answer mate. Probably sulking somewhere.

I only take one cap. of high quality Resveratrol and one x 150mg of Q10.

Probably gets a bit lost amongst all we take lol. Each has to do what they want in this life.

Steam Rollers-- I think they were Allens??  Mum used to always like to have a packet of them  but never would buy Life Savers -- and she used to make me smile -- she was Scottish and always said -- 'there was no sense in paying for a hole in the middle'

That's funny P.B. bless her :)

I used to love Rowntree's chocolate in everything they made, especially Peppermint Crisp where the choc. was SO smooth and thick.

Yes Phyl bless her she would give you the shirt off her back but never would pay for the hole in the middle  lol
