Which Allen's lolly would you like to see 'go solo'?

Lovers of lollies Australia-wide have assailed Allen’s, asking for their favourite party mix sweets to be sold separately.

The candy company has been inundated with calls for peaches and cream, black cats and racing car lollies to have their own bag on the shelf, so, instead of running from consumer criticism, Allen’s is now running an online poll asking which Classic Party Mix treat customers would like to see packaged solo.

With bananas, red frogs, snakes, pineapples, milk bottles, jelly babies, and strawberries and cream lollies already sold separately from the party mix, and after a successful campaign by consumers of Jelly Dots managed to swing a solo selection, lolly-lovers are hoping the same tactic will work for their favourite fun fare.

So will racing cars beat the black cats over the line? Or will black cats spell bad luck for peaches and cream and the racing car lollies? Or will they all get a solo deal, making it peaches and cream for the lot of them? We'll find out ...

Do you have a Classic Party Mix favourite? Which sweet would you like to see packaged separately?

If this is a paid advertisement by Nestles I think it should be declared . For YLC promoting sugar on a seniors site is irresponsible .

Rick, if you don't like what YLC publishes simply don't visit the site. Your comments certainly won't be missed. Tata.

Rick, I think we should all be pretty right with what we can eat and what we can't.... I know that I certainly won't be going out and buying lollies because of this topic... I guess, if it is advertising that's what keeps the site going...

Seriously Rick!!??

I like the heart shaped marshmallows in hot chocolate

Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow Hearts

Please be my guest and have a cup :)

What a cool idea Abby..... when my kids were little and had birthday parties I use to make marshmallow rabbits, the kids loved them....

The latest research shows that is sugar not fat that is causing the epidemic in obesity and diabetics .

In my opinion it is a case of everything in moderation.

Looks tasty Abby  :)

I expect Rick will now be banned for daring to criticise YLC

We can only live in hope.

Oh Rick .......

Abby as we are unaware of the level of sugar in our food it is not possible to decide on the right level for moderation.

It is certainly not ethical for YLC to promote products loaded with sugar to its older readers ..

The normal range for fasting blood sugar is anything from 3.0 to 5.5 mmol/L.

If a person is diagnosed with impaired glucose tolerance then consideration of lifestyle changes around diet, exercise and weight loss if appropriate should be given.

I cannot see a problem with a discussion about sweet foods and their effect on people.

Me neither .. But it is a subject I know quite  a lot about as Iam studying diet effect on health and longevity.

We should not by Amy stretch of the imagination be eating lollies .

Rick, by your comments you have been eating "acid drops". They are bad for you, and us.

No Eddie gave them up and avoid sugar it's very bad for your health ..

We can eat what we like.

Black Cats for me!!!

As Gerry says we can eat what we like , I choose to live a long healthy life so choose to avoid sugar ..

i consider this paid Ad posing as comment is irresponsible of YLC

Some who suffer from impaired glucose tolerance actually have to carry sweets with them at all times.

The fact that Allens no longer belongs to Australia is more of a problem to me ... imagine that they have been taken over by Nestle....we produce nothing ?

If sugar is so bad why does Australia  grow sugar cane ?

Unnecessary stress also leads to a shorter life Rick.

Agree 110% Leon.

Yep agree guys. Stress is the killer. Relax and smell the roses is the key to life.

Sugar is a 'natural food' so goodness only knows what is bad or good, so will they find 'sugar' is a cure-all next week lol.

Perhaps 'not exercising' is far worse for us than eating anything we fancy in moderation I feel. :)

Hi Phyll you used to be very interested in nutrition . The Western world is suffering epidemics  of Diabetes and Obesity. Which it is now believed to be a major contributor to dementia ..it has now been deduced it is Not fat that is responsible but sugar ..

Rick Phyl's post was "TONGUE IN CHEEK" I was "ADVISED" by you know who to stop eating lollys 3 months ago up to this time I have lost 11 kilos. and feel better than I have for a long time. I now NEVER have any food with sugar. There has to be a message there some where.

Totally agree Peter I would also advise not to eat wheat ..2 slices of toast =6 spoons of sugar in effect of your blood sugar levels...

Black cats.

There you go Robbi.

Gee thank you dear Zapot :)

Yes well I follow a calorie restricted diet Peter and was told by you know who that 1500 was not enough . But at 74 I am very active and have a BMI of 19 ,

His name is Zapot. It's rude not to use his avatar name :(.  Someone else told me that.

Any Time Robi.................................................

Well Rick I find 2000 Cal  as advised by my doctor and giving up all sugar is doing good,I have lost weight and am breathing the best I have for months. I also prefer to be called Zapot on this site.
