What's the best thing you've done since you retired?

It's a complex question, but it's one worth asking. Many of you will have trouble narrowing it down to one thing, some of you may not. But what is the best thing you've done since you retired? Big holiday? Road trip? Getting the house in order? Getting to know yourself or your partner? Maybe it's not the best thing, it could be your favourite thing. Whatever. We'd love to hear about it, if you're happy to share with us?

More time to volunteer - and enjoy our stint each week at an Aged Care  facility, plus cooking for Church events.  Also had 7 grand children to enjoy tiem with and now 2 plus one on way great grandchildren - they are all the joy of our lives.

we became foster carers in addition to the usual voluntary work. Very rewarding and challenging- keeps us young

After I retired I learnt how to drive a manual car, purchased a big old Troop Carrier, all decked out for camping and drove the Canning Stock Route solo before writing a book about it. I survived and learnt a hell of a lot about myself, about 4Wdriving and about solo camping in the bush.

Good for you Heleno

I personally find that chilling out and doing absolutely nothing is working well for me.

Merry Christmas

That can work REALY well bebby and I am very happy to be able to do the same sometimes

It is just as well that I am retired, because I simply don't have time to work. I am wonderfully happily busy, busy, busy.

I volunteer 3x weekly, I am president/secretary etc etc in our small retirement village, and I am loving life.

I have a love life even, which is absolutely wonderful

Crone so very true, makes you wonder when you had time when you worked

Stopped working.

Hi. My wife and I took up Old Time New Vogue dancing. Its great, it keeps us active, learning new dances keeps our minds active and we have made so many friends its unreal. Also we travel a lot and find New Vogue dance venues at such places as Orange, Bathurst, lithgow, Canberra, Coffs harbour, Port Maquarie, Coolangatta and virtually everywhere on the Gold Coast including Twin Towns. Sydney has numerous venues such as Pennant Hills, Hornsby, Penrith and many others. And everywhere we have gone we have made new frriends.

Slowed down, stopped stressing about work, thus taking better care of myself.

Retirement...So, what now? I should be in a better position to answer this question around this time next year! I have just retired this Christmas and really looking forward to a new phase in my life. But I feel I am treading over unchartered territory, so, I just enjoy the moment for now. Plans, yes there are a few, but (maybe being a bit superstitious!) I don't like making big announcements yet as they may not eventuate. However, having had already a taste of retirement (partly retired 5 years ago) I intend to remain as busy as possible because it keeps me healthy in body and mind. More travelling and sharing common interests with my beautiful wife of 46 years will certainly be a big part of our future, but also we intend to give each other some space by persuing our own personal interests like (in my case) landscaping, gardening, bush walking and chess. All going well, particularly in the health department, I intend to enjoy all these to the fullest. But, in the words of the great John Lennon: "Life is what happens while we are making other plans" So, here we go...

Always lovely to hear a guy say "my beautiful wife".
