Terribly sad! Poor Haiti people!

The poor people of Haiti! Could be as many or more than 100,000 dead.
.................
When we feel we are hard done by just looking back on some of the sad
footage is enough to know how lucky we are.
Whether Nature or God's will it is devastating. These people are extremely
poor to start with, so why do they also have to be handed this. What did they
ever do to deserve this?
May those surviving find the strength to go on. So many dead to bury........

This is the problem there it is the people that suffer and no help given by their Government

I would have thought much help would have been in Haiti within hours.

Every hour makes a difference with getting people out surely.

Couple of Aussies now home talking about the horror.

We can only imagine the devastation. Where are the top

people in Haiti? Why are they not organising the rescue?

I saw people fighting for food/etc. and weaker ones thrown to

the ground. This is beyond stupid. The kids and oldies and

injured cannot get anything against strong young men.

Maybe today will be the turning point and all the help they

need arrived.

All the best Haiti survivors and those still needing to be found,

Phyl.

You only have to see how the government live over there to know they are corrupt and really do no look after their people--where are the Government of this place and WHAT are THEY doing to help--nothing that I can see!

Also the Prisoners are free and running amok now--what a mess and awful situation there.

PlanB, perhaps we can't see it because others have taken over.

Never knew much about Haiti it is kind of far away.. but because of this have spent bit of time reading its history.

These people have been through a lot of foreign interference mainly US, Canada, France.

They were the first nation to make slavery illegal which displeased French.

It was only 1994 that same Clinton who has taken it upon himself to administer the goings-on in Haiti

in the present situation invaded the country and installed brutal tyrant Aristide. Same as then military took control of the airport.

Whatever else is going on it is taking too long for essential help to come to people. One person has been killed. Is it going to turn into civil war. I pray not*

The more I watch the poor people the more distressed I become.

For God's sake hurry with tons of water and food and shelter

and Doctors and medicine and clothing and blankets but hurry

and get the poor things still alive under the rubble, out, as it is almost

too late. It is terrible. Why is it taking so long. why?????

Dead bodies still all over the place and did you see the flies on the

poor sick people?

What about little children dumped with no family or anyone

to help them.

If there is a God and I do hope there is for goodness sake

Help them I pray.

Below is a link to an interesting interview.

Steve Matthews of World Vision's emergency response team in Haiti talking to ABC's Tracey Bowden.

I think it explains some of the hardships facing those who are there to help and some of the success they are having with an enormous problem.

Thanks for that info fwed. It may all be to late for many still trapped sadly.

I know it is easy for us seeing all the devastation and feeling it is all happening very slowly

getting help to the people. I sure wish there were no guns or machetties to be seen

and starving and thirsty people being hit to get them away from a food lot.

Is there another way? Of course the drops have to be in full

view and starving people will act like a herd of cattle trying to get to food. I

would I am sure! especially if my kids were dying for want of water or food.

Lets hope even now a lot more has been done. I know many are helping

Thanks again matey.

BTW still have not got a stainless steel fridge 166 high

as we do have our good old fridge in another room now but would like the new

stainless one to look good in our new kitchen. I keep saying "we should not

spend the money when we do not really need it and it is more for

decoration" but Peter says "Phyl. if it gives you happiness have it" aww

I am so lucky he belongs to me lol

Phyl.

90% need amputations - heard it on sbs tonight.

That is heartbreaking what these people will have to endure for the rest of their life.

A lot of it could have been avoided if doctors were allowed in sooner.

Doctors without borders plane was refused landing five times.

I suppose it is chaotic....

I can imagine the horror of amputation in a normal hospital but

for the patients and medical staff in the conditions with

so few amenities in Haiti it must be a nightmare of stupendous

proportions. I saw footage of things being done to children with

no medication because it is not , but probably sitting on the tarmac

being watched over by military because the poor starving and desperate people

will rush whatever is there. I do hope now so far along, things are improving.

So much sadness over there lets hope as we enjoy Australia Day with

all Aussies. whether born or arrived here by boat or plane we do do our bit

and remember our Haiti brothers and sisters as this is what we all

are in reality. who cares about where anyone was born or colour or

creed we all have the same red blood when we bleed and many

people over there need so much help. Every person doing/giving what

we can helps because of sheer numbers.

All the best

Phyl.
