Terribly sad! Poor Haiti people!

The poor people of Haiti! Could be as many or more than 100,000 dead.
.................
When we feel we are hard done by just looking back on some of the sad
footage is enough to know how lucky we are.
Whether Nature or God's will it is devastating. These people are extremely
poor to start with, so why do they also have to be handed this. What did they
ever do to deserve this?
May those surviving find the strength to go on. So many dead to bury........

It sure is a dreaful situation, the poor souls, we can never understand the suffering.

Watching the news and what carnage. The poverty hence worry of bad infections are

very worrying. These poor poor people. Seems many hands on the way to try and dig those still trapped

out. Lots of money is needed to help the survivors. Lets hope help gets to them asap. Isn't it sad

to see stunned little kids bleeding and wandering aimlessly without any family left. Where do they start to

clean up. The water and sewerage are big problems and bandages by the many required,

but help is on the way thank goodness.

Yes it makes you wonder just where would they start--so much damage and suffering and those that survived Katrina and the tsunami are also still coming to grips with that and now this. The poor poor souls. So sad.

I wonder when we send money this time will they get it? I know that many didn't get the money sent to help those in the tsunami and also many never got the money that was sent to the fies in Victoria.

Lets hope help to get the poor people trapped still, is there already as to see

arms and legs beneath the rubble trying to get help makes me cry.

They can hear people still trapped. I wish there was some way I could help be it

with my bare hands if I was there day and night. Yes a donation of course but

speed is the main thing needed right now and I suppose earth moving equipment

but that would surely scare the trapped people badly.

I was trapped in a car I was driving when the steering wheel locked, around the winding roads

when we had our shop at Noojee. I rolled it and very lucky to be alive. I remember the terror and it was only for

a few minutes as I was able to squeeze out a window but upside down and in shock and with bad bangs from

stock for the shop including huge tins of Ice cream bought in bulk.

The news is terrible but need to watch regardless of how we feel.

Horrible just horrible and as you all say God help them.

Such poor people before the earthquake to now have

nothing although those alive are still lucky to be alive.

Unbelievable how many have perished.

Little children with no family now and the amenities

so lacking. Help is there now so God speed.

We've donated a sizable portion of our retirement to the fund and I can only hope that others are doing the same. I honestly hope this is a time when people can get past their prejudices, differences and see through the barriers of color to reach into their hearts and see what truly matters in times like these. I am glad to see so many people have stepped up to the plate but I would like to see more.

That is very kind of you Joy. We will give also but have to admit

we just manage on our money without having to ask for much

from anyone, and as we do like to give a little to a few good causes and this one

sure is one of the most needy we need to budget. Would be great to be able

to do more but even a small amount from many makes a lot.

..........

I hope the news today tells us many more out from under the rubble and

the bodies taken away from the streets and the people needing medical

attention receiving it and those poor little kids looked after.

What a shock to a small child to have Mum and Dad dead and nowhere to go.

I am hoping the sanitation will be organised and clean water along with

food today.

All the best

Phyl.

Before I give I want to make sure it is going to get to the ones that need it and NOT go to administration like so much of the tsunami and the Vic fires did--I want to find out where is the best place to send it, also there are a lot of places such as Haiti that the government take the majority of the money--that I do not want to happen

I remember you mentioning the fires here also Jane. Many people 12 months

down the track still waiting, and our donations sitting somewhere.

I would, like you, Jane give direct as administration and people with no morals

seem to become involved far too quickly when there is an emergency.

Difficult isn't it but of course thousands of wonderful Volunteers who

help and do amazing things with no thought of remuneration.

I suppose the people who do the organising need to evaluate where the help

is needed but I would like it be done straight away instead of keeping

the money for a long time.

I need to shower and get going but fun chatting.

Catch you later after a McDonal'ds Sundae lol

Phyl.

Yes there are a lot of wonderful people that help in wonderful ways and God bless them for that--I would like to be sure that the Government of these 3rd world countries did not benefit for any of the donations and it was the poor souls alone that did

Oh my goodness, have just seen footage of workers bringing out a baby alive from the rubble. The poor child looks absolutely traumatised and I cried for him, what future does he have I wonder? God love him.

Isn't it amazing that many Babies survive where as older persons don't, you see it often in times like this. Very very sad.

Little girl 18 months old. Seeing this baby brought out after 3 days with no food or water or company has made my night. Elating....................................The young man crawled into a hole to get her. How brave.

BUT how terrible many more women and men and children still under the rubble crying out for help

What brave people helping dig with their hands as any minute another rumble could bring everything down on top of them.

Is it my imagination or is food and water slow in coming. It's been few days already. So far i have not seen either being distributed. People are getting frustrated and then violence and then military (US has sent in 10000 military).

I certainly hope it will not get ugly these people do not need it.

Another thing that is obvious, no Haitians in authority is speaking. Some of them have been killed , but there are many levels of government. Some are alive. It appears foreigners especially Americans are doing all the talking and planning. Maybe I got it all wrong; hope so*
