Take note of heart pain

I have started a 10 day Seminar with exercises and lectures because of my Arrhythmias of the heart and having a pacemaker.

One man talked about a bad toothache causing jaw pain and went to the Doctor who sent him to a Dentist and he had a wisdomtooth removed BUT the pain did not subside. Went to the emergency room at the hospital and was straight away admitted with a heart problem. It was NOT his tooth causing the problem but it was his heart so a pain in the jaw can be the heart.

A lady (we went around the room with our stories of what happened to us to make us seek help) and she had a back pain which lasted awhile until she got her husband to take her to hospital at 4 a.m. because it got so bad but not thinking for one minute it was her heart but she was haing a heart attack. Once again not all heart pain is where the heart actually is.

I could go on about pain not actually in the area of the heart but was the heart, and people died because they do not get to the hospital in time as SO many true stories from many heart patients which were an eye opener for Peter and I about themselves or their family and friends. A real education for us. Maybe may help someone.

All the best

Phyl.

Oh my goodness Wobbly. What a lot to for you to go through.
Thank goodnss your daughters and you yourself are ok. now.
Sad about your husband but at least his passing was not prolonged
as he did not want it to be.
..
Even with me with my rapid heartrate I was on Sotalol which gets the beat
slower BUT often too low and a few times Peter could not get
our home machine to register my beat at all so the oxygen level was so low
I was having everything go black and very weak. I just waited until all this
passed and went on with life only to be yelled at by my Doctor when I told her
what had been happening and made promise if it happened again to get
to hospital immediately which I did and did not come out of hospital
until I had a pacemaker installed as I flatlined for many seconds
in hospital three times
(but I had done that at home many times) how silly was I to not worry about it. :(
I just did not know so anything we can learn has to be good.
All the best
Phyl.

When Peter came and posted that you had flatlined at the hospital,I sat here and literally shook as It realy hit me at how close you came Phyl, I am just so glad that you went when you did.Your experiences will help others to make that decision to pick up the phone and let the ambulance officers do their job.We are all scared of feeling foolish and dont want to call out for fear of wasting their time, but you have proved how silly that thinking Is as you would probably not be here todayif you had not made that call.Talking about your pacemaker will help others as well as most people including me know nothing about these things like how long they last ? side effects? things to watch out for?,so please keep posting as It Is a great help.Hugs wobbly

It is very good for people to share stuff justme as you said
I feel that is what is great about a forum >>sharing

It's amazing what can be learnt on Forums, and this post is no exception, just reading it I've learnt a lot.
Wobbly, that must have been a bad time for you, and the worry about your daughter as well, she is lucky to have survived one aneurism let alone two. We nearly lost our eldest daughter one day, it was only changed circumstances that we still have her, but that's another story, the unfortunate part of that is we still don't know what happened to her so it can happen again at any time.

Thank goodness your daughter is also o.k. Deanna
Life is precious and also sometimes a mystery.
Not knowing when to get help is always a problem and when we
have babies and children probably moreso than ourselves.
Has to be a good idea to have some kind of system in place
if anyone lives alone.
..
We are still freezing here in Vic. so even for a shopoholic like
me not venturing out as much as I used to but come the better
weather and off we go again lol albeit going shopping tomorrow
and looking forward to it :) I am so lucky Peter enjoys our shopping days
not when I am looking for clothes though lol.

It's a long story Phyl, she was in her early 20s still living at home, I was supposed to have gone out with hubby early that morning, (not somewhere I really wanted to go) he woke up early and saw I was still asleep (which is normal for me) so he left me sleep and he went to do the chore, at 10am my Mum rang and we talked for some time, after talking to Mum my daughter was just having some thing to eat and had told me she was going out for lunch with her friend who was picking her up in 1/2 hour, I told her she had better get ready as she was still in her night attire, I went and changed and when I came out of the room I noticed my daughter laying on the floor, the end result was I called the Ambulance which came, (that's another story) and she went to hospital, I had to resuscitate her while waiting for the Ambulance, the luck was Hubby left me home, and Mum woke me up, that was the two things that led to the saving of our Daughter, The Paramedics said if I wasn't there she would have died, no question, yet they couldn't find anything wrong at the hospital. We count our blessings.

How wonderful for your whole family you
were at the right place at a time you may not have been Deanna.
Things fell into place which SO easily could have ended so differently.
Every day is a day we are given but so many waste the gift of life
being miserable to themselves and others.
God bless.
Phyl.

How right you are, it is so sad to see the waste with the involvement with drugs, the suicides the road accidents, not only the deaths but the injured whose life is spent in wheelchairs or worse, in bed for the rest of their days. My heart bleeds for their families as well as themselves. Cheers.

I cannot believe how lucky we are Deanna, today is my daughters birthday, her 47th, last year the day after her surgery my son in law was diagnosed with cancer ,just over a week later my youngest daughter broke her neck and had to undergo spinal surgery or become a quadrapleagic. The same brilliant surgeon backed up and operated on her less than 3 weeks later. When he saw me he asked if I had any other daughters as he was planning on taking a holiday if it was ok with me lol .I had 2 of my daughters in intensive care and another daughters husband in the oncology ward all at the same time.I was caring for all the youngest grandchildren and family animals and literally running in fear.Over the next 3 weeks I got booked 3 times for speeding and lost 9 points just trying to be everywhere at once,at the same time the cat had to have its leg amputated as it had cancer as well.Today the cat is doing very well, my daughters are back at work my son in law is in remission from his Lymphoma but they have found a cancer on his kidney, which must be monitored, AND I am driving very carefuly as I only have 3 points left, lol we are celebrating as as a family we are so much stronger and just so very very lucky but I could do with just a tad less drama in my life enough already wobbly

Sounds like you had such a bad run there Wobbly. our genes really do have a lot to answer for don't they. Cancer is very prevalent in my family, (comes from my Dad's side) both my Sisters got it, one survived the other didn't, so as far as I'm concerned, for me, it's not if but when I will get it and where. LOL My family are involved in the Familial Cancer Research and we are the largest family on their records, not a record I'm happy about I can assure you. If cancer is caught early enough it can be cured, it's not a life sentence these days, there are so many break throughs happening. Hope it all stays OK for you Wobbly, you sure have had enough drama. Cheers.

That must have been terrifying Deanna, sometimes you just have to wonder at the way the penny falls ,on one side absolute tragedy and the other side just incredible luck that you were at home and that your mum woke you in time.I would find It incredibly hard to allow her out of my sight as you do not have answers as to the cause and must live with that fear of It perhaps happening again. I dont know whether you call It fate luck or the hand of God that saved your daughter that day Deanna but something did . When I read peoples complaints about their children I know they have probably never experienced that absolute undescribable fear that overwhelms you when they are in danger or In trouble .I will never take my children or their needs lightly as I feel so very very blessed to have them and I know that you feel the same.Hugs Wobbly

Thanks so much Wobbly, I have always believed that someone was watching over her that day, It was my Father in Laws birthday, (he had left us many years before) and she believes he was watching over us, there was certainly someone taking care, wasn't her time but was definitely a scary thing for me. You mention not letting her out of our sight, you are so right, we wanted to wrap her up in cotton wool and keep her under my wing but she got a scare too and decided to take life differently and started to do extreme sports and activities, her reasoning was that she nearly departed this world, she didn't know whether it was going to happen again and she was going to have some 'fun' just in case, we didn't stop her but we had many sleep less nights, she also moved out of home just to experience living on her own,so was worrying times but all is well, we have all put it behind us but still I worry, her kids have been trained how to call us if there is anything amiss but we can only pray that God will continue to take care of her and that all will be OK. Cheers

....
I find I do miss a few replies because of not knowing where a person has replied
to a message - Do other find this?
IF I had not been rolling the posts I would have not seen your reply Wobbly.
I think maybe new posts are better because how many replies do we miss?
I see the last post by whomever and think that is the only one but
way up there others have replied to a specific posting.
In theory it is a great idea but in another way I think
when a lot of replies and discussion we may miss heaps
yes? no?
..
I rambled a bit there but I am sure you clever people got the gist of it :)
Thanks Wobbly and I probably would have lost my life because of
the low oxygen levels and not have bounced back as I just expected to do
each time it happened if I had not gone to hospital.
hugs
Phyl.

Phyl, I mentioned that in the topic "Your Meeting Place"
If there are 20 pages to a topic and you reply to someone on page 5, your reply will go on page 5 and will probably never be read.
Better as I suggested it became the last post as it did on the old forum.
Hopefully Drew is aware of this.

Sorry matey I did not know you had already
spoken of this but dosn't matter other than goes
to show it is easier to miss posts this way although I
still feel the theory was great. I agree with you
Fwed. who rolls up pages to find a reply somewhere
but which post on which page?????
as would have to be constant.
Bottom has to be the go.

I agree with you Phyl but I was hoping that it would all work out when Drew gets the email alerts up and running again and hopefully there will be a link to that particular post, but then of course the reply needs to bring the post back to the top. I do try to reply to the posts that relate to me but I'm sure I've missed some along the way. Cheers

Apparently the number one priority for men and for women is to lose belly fat. How to do that is the big problem because it requires a change in lifestyle: changing eating habits and getting mobile again.

The biggie is consistently less calories, somehow.

That is what everyone was told at the meeting Nautilus.

For most people a waist measurement of greater than 94cm for men or 80cm for women is an indicator of internal fat deposits, which can coat the heart, kidneys, liver and pancreas, and increase the risk of chronic disease.

Waist measurements are for adults to check their risk of developing a chronic disease.

Measuring your waist:-
To find out your level of risk, it is important to measure your waist circumference accurately.
•The tape measure should be placed directly on your skin, or on no more than one layer of light clothing.
•The correct place to measure your waist is horizontally halfway between your lowest rib and the top of your hipbone. This is roughly in line with your belly button.
•Breathe out normally and take the measure.
•Make sure the tape is snug, without squeezing the skin.
This from the Experts.
..
So many different places people thought was their waist it was
funny so to know it IS around the belly button is a good true guide
psst many men were so much beyond what should be
but funny how all the women pulled in while the men were
well just out there :)
..
I think many people do not weigh portions and often believe
they are eating a smaler amount than we actually are. Just
weighing an amount once and remembering how much
fits the aea of the plate is a good gauge.
Trouble is food is nice so it is always difficult if anyone is
prone to put on weight.

Phyl

Today I was comparing the dinner plates that have replaced those we used in my childhood, which were Churchill blue Willow pattern. Amazing how plates and mugs have grown. Quite a shock when I remembered that we could always see some plate between the meat and three veg serves and much of the rim of the plate as well.

I love the English Blue Willow dinnerware Nautilus :)
I always use an entree size plate for my meals and Peter
although dinner plates not huge ones but you are SO right they
sure do vary in size. Some square dinner plates
particularly and some oval ones also, are the size
of a serving platter.
Have to admit love my huge mug of tea x 7 times a day lol.
Green tea is SO good for us but I like
Red Label Liptons but that is my biggest vice I think
so not too bad along with just a small amount of choc.
on special occasions.
