this is for mara, i'm not sure what house bugs you refer to but here's my solution. when i first moved into my house i was given a welcome by a few thousand ants. obviously the builder disturbed their nest and all the other houses had the same problem. i bought a product from safeway super,market which consists of three aerosol cans. which are called flea bombs. they kill just about anything that walks , crawls or slithers. you put a piece of newspaper on the floor in three different places in your house and put one of the cans on each piece, ,open the man hole in your celing and cover anything on benches etc to prevent contact with the mist which comes from the cans,close all food cupboard doors, open the cans one at a time as instructed on the cans, opening the one furtherest from the back or front door first, because you have to leave the house. and as you leave the first can is already in motion . leave the house closing the door after you. wait two hours and then go back inside and open doors and remove the cans . wipe down any surfaces that were left bare. the effect takes about 2-3 weeks but soon you will see dead spiders , flys, ants( you didn't know you had)and anything else that was bothering you. it lasts between 6-9 months in which time you may see this product on sale for a reduced price .this is when i buy it again as it costs about $ 13-14 but is well worth the price for the peace you get from the bugs.it sometimes sells for $11. i have never had any ill effects from using it. it's made by mortein company . if you have pets in the house it also kills flea eggs and the fleas themselves . i bombed the garage because my pets sleep in there and there is carpet on the floor and they haven't had fleas for years. good luck ...suanne

There are some pest sprays that have that natural pyrethrum as the main ingredient. Yes garlic is a great killer , maybe get some marigold flowers, put boiling water on them strain the water, mix with garlic and spray that around, it works with bugs on plants



Of course you would then need to get a natural air freshner to help eliminate the garlic smell however the flea bombs may be a last resort.



I too do not like using any chemicals if I can but sometimes it is necessary, although if ever anyone has a problem with ants in the garden or them coming into the house, get some cheap talcum powder and put that around the entrance to the nest or on where they are coming into the house, stops them in their tracks(pardon the pun)

I seem to recall that fleas hate mintamd O also recal wahing the cat and the dog years ago.with water I had simmered a bunch of mint in and also used as a spray Had forgotton about that for years as I had no animals for yonks,,, for ants equal quantitieson icing sugar and Borax mixed ansd left out of the way of animals ,the ants take it home to the queen and she carks it , and no queen, no ants
