Just A Whinge

I have a whinge every now and again about parking at shopping centres, "Parents with Prams" is my bone of contention. These parking spots are so close to the front doors of the Shopping Centres that in some cases could even be closer than the disable spots.
The reason why I whinge about this........well I have a story........Some years ago, Christmas shopping, the parking area at this particular SC (and I'm sure it is the same at all SC across Aus) was packed, we had to park way up the back, (not a problem for us) but next to us pulled in a very elderly couple, they got out of the car and the lady could hardly walk, as we got closer to the centre there were the Mums putting their kids in the car next to the centre doors, I looked back at the elderly couple struggling to get to the Center let alone walking around it and I couldn't believe why these young folk had the luxury of being so close to the doors and here behind was this poor lady struggling to walk the distance.
Can someone explain to me why this should be, one would wonder why the closer bays weren't left there for elderly such as that poor couple that I felt so sorry for. I guess the younger ones are more frequent visitors therefore spend more money in the Centre,
The Mums are young, the kids are supposed to be in prams, they should be more able to walk those distances than some elderly people. I have never forgotten it and Hubby and my kids know how I feel about "Parents with Prams" parking spots.
I will say though, we have a small shopping centre in our area which has "elderly Parking" right outside the front door, I shop there regularly. At this point I will say though that I don't, and at this stage don't need to use these bays, I leave them for the people such as the ones that affected me all those years ago.
That's my whinge,

Just got back from shopping. In the time it took me drive to the shops....10 minutes tops....one person went straight past me through a STOP light, another came out of a side street off my left without even slowing down, and a third did a right hand turn from a side street on my right..in front of me. I saw the faces of the three drivers....... two would have been under 30, the other one about 35/40.

Hmmm?

I don't like those kind of trips koko, that's when you give a big sigh when you arrive home. It never ceases to amaze me that there are not more fatalities on the road when you see/ hear of times like that.

Glad you got home safe.

Our Sunday Market (not really worth paying to be honest)

as this is the only outdoor market asks for payment around here.

has put the price up to $1 each person whereas it has been 70c each

becase they have brought in kids jumping castles.

I know of course not much difference between 70c and $1 but the market

has fallen off so badly not many stalls to start with and many people with no kids

believe $1 each to get through the gate crazy so maybe this market will not

keep going as many said even as we paid our $2

"this is the last time we will be coming".

Not worth anyone getting upset about of course as life is too short but it is

like everything "Price matters" and near 50% increase even on a small payment

can break someone.

..

Have a lovely Sunday folks.

I have never heard of an entry fee to get into a market ,that is wrong I feel, We dont pay here , I think you are right Phyl this is a quick way of closing down a market sad though as most people enjoy spending sundays doing the markets including me.Wobbly

We have a monthly market where we are and there is no charge for that one, wouldn't they be better off charging for the bouncy castle, (user pays if you like) Charging everyone certainly will be a sure fire way to close the markets. Maybe they only want families there. :smirk:

Deanna Have you seen the june issue of Better house and Garden has nice patchwork Quilt patterns in it. I am going to make the zen quilt i think. Will try to get fabrics in Bali,Getting rather excited now. wobbly

Sorry Wobbly, missed this one. My daughter loves oriental prints for her quilts. I have some oriental fat quarters here but that is all. Hope you find some lovely material for your zen quilt.

It's time for another whinge I think, this time it 's about potatoes, yep I said potatoes. I don't know about you people over East but our spuds over here are atrocious. My family use a lot of spuds, (must be the bit of Irish in us :) ) but when we buy our potatoes they look lovely and fresh on the outside but when you peel them and cut them the middle is all brown and horrible. We pay quite a lot for our spuds but when you have to throw half of them out they become really expensive.

The other thing about our spuds is that they don't taste like they use to, (geez that sounded like my Mum) I use to love eating them raw but can't eat the modern spud raw. I think they have been modified to cook quickly for the working woman thereby losing that nice potato taste. End of whinge.

We had almost given up on potatoes until the ones we are buying now

very yellow in the middle but do cook up white came in Deanna, and

we quite like them. Not sure if they will disappear soon though

but while we can buy those we will.

...

My bit of a whinge. I am sick of the old replays on tele.

..

I think I have done enough with my arm for today so night all

catch you again tomorrow

Phyl.

Phyl, have they got a red skin??? if so I think they are the Royal Blues that we can get over here, the others we can get are the Nadine's but they seem to be very watery, then there is the Ruby Lou's, which is the ones we get and that's end of choice. We have the Potato Marketing Board over here which is the reason that we can't buy off the farm anymore so therefore we don't know how old they are, probably last years crop.

Tele replays...... I don't watch much tv these days, don't seem to have time so that doesn't bother me but I can understand why you feel the need to have a whinge about it. :-) :)
