Icebergs are massive and mysterious habitats, which are dynamic kingdoms that support marine life. As they swing and rotate slowly through polar currents, icebergs fertilise the oceans by carrying nutrients from the earth. They are also responsible for the development of the phytoplankton and in?uence the carbon cycle by sequestering carbon dioxide from the air.

It's rained all night here and still heavy showers. Reminded me of the cruise we we took in New Zealand where cascading waterfalls line the sides of Doubtful Sound in the South Island. Quite amazing to see so many falls in one place.

TV last night and I did think the display on Sydney Harbour was excellent, especially the Opera House with pictures of Australian themes on the sails. I only hope that we keep 26th January for Australia Day and let the others pick a date that will represent them. Regards, mobdro

A bee thought to be extinct for 100 years lands right near a researcher looking for them.

James Dorey admits he might be one of the luckiest researchers ever – when he went to find a native bee that had not been seen for nearly a century, one landed right in front of him.

“I was walking on the edge of a rainforest near Atherton in far north Queensland and I saw a bee land on a leaf,” he said, “I took one look at it and pretty quickly realised what it was. I’ll admit that I was embarrassingly excited.”
