This Thread is about how a person who had a stroke in May 2021 is experiencing life AFTER the stroke. My Ups and Downs.

Has anyone had radiation treatment in Australia over the last couple of years please?

Husband has just been given the costing and it doesn't make any sense.

Medicare pays $20,000

If you have to have radiation treatment you are expected to pay a further $620,00 a week for five weeks.

Even if you are on a Part Pension or Pension!

I don't even know if Australia has a Senior Citizen Day?

But I came across this so there must be one country in the world that has happy seniors!

Not sure Celia but most states celebrate International Day for Older Persons on Friday, 1 October.

Senior citizen day??  With all the whinging they do they’re lucky to get to senior years, that’s enuff I say. Sooner we send them to Mars to do some real work, the better!

'They do'  Oh I thought you are a Senior too Lucca.

Bad Manners?

This last week I have met up with some very bad mannered people here in WA.

One was a tall guy about 6'3 inches tall and accused little ole me of knocking him!

He said you usually say sorry when you do that!   I replied did I knock you?  I must have been asleep. I was in Line with several over women at Miss Mauds a Pastry cafe here in our area.  I wanted to purchase some yummy cakes to take home for afternoon tea.

He looked down his nose at me and then said I will forgive you this time!

The lady next to me said 'do you know him', no I replied.

Then this Saturday I was coming out of Big W with my husband in tow he was using his walking by the say, when another guy came pushing passed us with two kiddies about 7 and 9;  they were trying to keep up with him, I guess he was their father.

He nearly knocked me flying and I just said to hubby what happened to Manners here in Perth.  No wonder children have no manners anymore their parents don't have any to teach them!

Now I see this woman on the flight, reminds me of some other flights people have complained about, I have not myself come across this, but I have come across people that put their seats back so far you cannot put your tray in its position to have a meal.   Even in Business Class it has been an issue over the years with some folks.  Not all Business Class seating is as big as the next.

This this woman is dirty and inconsiderate.

I think if I was there and she did this to me I would get up and say excuse me do you want a hair Trim?

An 'inconsiderate' plane passenger (right) who let her hair monopolize another passenger's space was pounced on by Twitter users (inset) who called her behavior 'rude'. The latest situation joins a growling list of other passenger (right) grievances, including reclining seats and hogging the armrest. An etiquette expert likened the latest passenger's behavior to 'brushing your hair at a table.

I'd tie my bacon on to her hair like a ribbon bow and spread butter all over it and dip the ends in coffee lol

I think people with serious health issues need to be protected from this virus and should have the Jab, both husband and I have had the double Jab now, my son in Sydney is waiting for his booster, having had his double Pfizer some months ago now due to his health issues.

Andrew Dutton (pictured inset left), 38, of Harlow, Essex, was filmed calmly walking along the line of the protestors sat in the middle of the road and spraying them with ink as they blocked traffic yesterday (pictured centre). Mr Dutton, who works with bands and arranges concerts, later told friends he lost his temper after asking the protestors to move from the A40 in North Acton, West London, to allow an emergency vehicle through - only for them to refuse and stay put. Among those who ended up being doused with blue ink was a retired 77-year-old GP who gave his name as Christian (pictured inset right).

Those Insulate Britain protestors should be arrested and jailed IMO. Dangerous, uncaring and insolent.

Think it should happen to everyone around the world that do this, I have had an issue with getting a  house cleaner for us this week, I refuse to have someone that doesn't have the Jab!     I would rather have a dirty house than have an un Jabbed person in my house cleaning for us.

I don't feel so old now!

Forget hair of the dog! 1,400-year-old amethyst ring that was used to ward off HANGOVERS is discovered at the world's largest ancient wine factory in Israel

The 'spectacular' ring, encased with an attractive amethyst stone, was found during excavations led by the Israel Antiquities Authority in the city of Yavne in central Israel.

Celia - What a find. I've always loved Amethyst stones.

Hi Hola.

Yes I love it too, the first time I saw it the raw cut in have it fascinated me and it always has!  That ring that was found is amazing, it is hard to get ones brain about the age of it! I was just trying to imagine when I first read about the ring what has happened in the work since then, what the world was like when it was made too, how primitive we thought society was back then but to make that ring it must have been a wonderful society to have been able to do that.  Like the Greeks and Arabs back then.  The world must have done a backward flip because it sure was primitive for many years after!

Hola here is a selection of Amathyst rings you may like, but to me the magic is in the age of that ring in the story.

The other day I saw the eye surgeon here in Perth about how my site is improving, after a lot of testing with hubby nearby as he had to have some test down after his surgery each year, I was told the swelling has gone down and I can see enough legally to drive now.  I told the surgeon I was not expecting that!  It is five months since I had the stroke I had told the family I will give myself a year to try and improve before I sold my little car.

Now I need to try to gain the courage to drive!   I have not got behind the wheel since the stroke so hubby is going to take me to a quiet place to get my confidence back.

I don't know if other people have lost their confidence in a similar situation, ie not driving for some time?

It reminds me after I had my last child I lost confidence for about eight months before I got behind the wheel again.

It is amazing how the brain and body in general can change after an injury.  I didn't think of swelling in the injured area was the cause I thought it had been damaged.   I am glad I saw the surgeon, he wants me to have checkups either 18 or each 12 months.  I opted for 12 monthly check ups.

None of the nerves were damaged thankfully so I plod along and try to improve myself.

My husband did all the driving at our place but when he got cancer I had to resume driving in 2011.

Like you I was lacking confidence SO I did a few short test runs around the local neighbourhood first.

Found that the skills came back ASAP and have been driving daily ever since.

Hi RnR.

Yes they do come back, it is like typing I didn't think I would be able to do that when I was in hospital but as soon as I put the fingers on they keyboard everything worked!   I had the same experience after I had my last son, I was scared to drive.

Up to the stroke in May, my husband had given up driving as he had several cancer operations then he had the Leukemia.  He didn't give up his license but just stopped driving, then all of a sudden he had to drive us to the doctors and the chemist and the supermarket.  He is 80 in March and says he will give up then, I doubt it I think he will continue, I hope so.

When I was in my 50s I said to him I am giving up driving when I turn 60 I will be too old!  LOL

I am trying to get my head around experiencing this situation!!!!!

Ugh!!

I agree RnR, I have never seen anything like it before and I hope I don't experience it either.

Image result for animation ' lady with aching back'  Bad back day!  Too much gardening yesterday I should have stopped when I had the chance!  Now I am taking Panadol Osteo and hope for the best. Since the Stroke the GP doesn't want me to take Mobic.  Does anyone take Mobic?   I think I will ask the new doctor if I can take it, only twice a week I find it makes a big difference, as I don't want to give up my gardening it gets me out in the fresh air and I get exercise.

Hope your back recovers ASAP.

Frightening!

Mrs Millachip paid tribute to him, calling him a 'wonderful' man and father to their two adult

That is such a sad story and what a terrible way to die.

I agree Hola.

I used to go into the ocean around that area as a teenager and over to Cottesloe as we lived not far from the ocean at Cottesloe but I never felt relaxed in that water.

How the values of our society have changed in the last 20 years or more!

Thousands of migrants are living in shabby tents cramped together at the Grande Synthe camp in Dunkirk, with rubbish and debris strewn between them. It appears to be based at an industrial unit with the setting providing very little protection from the elements to the migrants. There is no electricity and the mud is ankle deep when it rains. There are too few latrines for a population that grows daily, with hundreds arriving every day, and charity vans provide food once a day.

Well our day had its ups and downs!

Hubby was told he is clear from Leukemia today!  But he now has to fight prostate cancer; if it is not one thing it is another.

Went shopping for suns jeans he wants for Christmas, found them!  The lady pulled them out and hung them next to her, it took me all my strength to stop laughing. She said 'he is call'?  Yes I replied.  I didn't like to say his couson is even taller.

The waist came over her shoulder when she held them up with the bottoms on the floor!  LOL

36 waist and 34 leg.    This son looks short compared to his 6'8" cousin. Must say it has been an interesting search I even found jeans that have a leg of 37cm!

I'm so sorry about your husband, Celia. He's certainly having a rough trot.

Yes it has not been easy these last 18 months Axel, thank you.

Yesterday was not such a pleasant day all round he broke his crown on his tooth too.

So very, very sorry to read that Celia about your husband's latest diagnosis of prostate cancer ... all my best wishes to both of you.
