Hair help PLEASE

I did a very silly thing and  thought I would have a go at "foils" SO my hair being mid brown, I thought I would put a few darker streaks through it with the foils.

What did it turn out like? Well may you ask (I sound like Gough Whitlam) it is awful! as all the pieces through the foils have gone jet black. I hate it.

Yes I have Googled and used a couple of things, but all I now have is the hair still the same, squeeky clean, and a shiny face lol. Not the end of the world of course, as it is such a minor thing in the big scheme of life.

Anyone got a "no fail recipe" I could use at home please, as we have an appointment on Monday where I need to look a bit smart :) of course if I cannot fix it, will go to the hairdressor next week.

Hopeful Phyl.

You could dye it all black or else wear a burqa to your appointment and keep it on until you get to the hairdresser.

Could you send me a Burqa Robi. but have to send it Express and hope it gets to me today or tomorrow - thanks. Oh and if you have one in lavender or sky blue that would be good as they both suit me. :)

I guess jet black would be the go but that is not really for me.

Thanks for the help though, I think lol.

Phyl

have a look at this...may find one of these ideas useful to you ...good luck :)

Thank you Radish. I have a big bottle of (orange though) Vit. C tabs. so will give it a go although might not work as fast as tomorrow, will still be good to do.

Pineterest is very interesting. Will certainly try with the hints.

Thanks again.

No problems Phyl...let me know if anything works.   That site, Pininterest has lots of information on it.

Phyl...just read about your predicament.....have you got a nice plain scarf you could tie sort of bandeau style or ...maybe a hat ..I'm a great hat person myself. Can't think of anything else!! lol

Must have forgotten to say "in post" so lost it, dosn't matter. :)

I just wrote, I am still sitting here in p.j's with a shower cap on hair covered in (orange Vit. C crushed caps) as leaving it on for hours, before I shower it off.

Lazy day today watching hired pics. Love Sundays.

I have caps and scarves and a few nice wigs ( I was bald after treatment) so have plenty of things to fall back on - I like my own hair though, but it really is a not a big deal.

Sprayed my hair with heaps of Eucalyptus spray yesterday but did nothing, other than I smelled like the bush, but rather nice I must say. I do not think I will take colour out of my natural colour,  hoping just the black streaks.

Be good folks - nah have fun lol.

Thank you kindly Robi. and Radish and Fleur.

Hope the vitamin C works for you Phyl. Next time you decide to experiment try just one streak first. I once got one streak of dark brown put in and really hated it but it didn't matter because it was only one and sort of hip. Have avoided dark brown ever since though. Bright blue is better :)

When mother catches up with him ....he too will have a bad hair day :)

Phyl, deathly silence from you on this LOL.

What was the result of the Vitamin C...hope you dont have orange streaks now ;)

Semi-permanent and permanent dyes particularly the darker dyes have some chemicals that may cause cancer.  Apparently the Semi- permanent and permanent dyes are of greatest potential concern as the dyes are absorbed by the hair shaft.

Vanity could take years of your life and give you a slow paiful death.  So it is recommended if you must, then use temporary dyes which cover the surface of the hair but don’t penetrate into the hair shaft.

These only last for 1 to 2 washings - unbelievable that semi and permanent hair dyes are still allowed on the market.

Hi Phyl, I believe that you cant dye a dark colour to a lighter one, so the only thing to do is to strip the colour from your hair (bleach / peroxide or some other agent) and then dye it the colour you want. I dont know of any products you can use at home so it might be an expensive trip to the hairdresser (or a beanie).

My knucklehead daughter did aweful things to her hair as a teenager then had a conniption when she suddenly got an interview for a job she desperately wanted. Sooo.......I am familiar with your predicament - best of luck matey.

kfc

My oncologist post chemo advised me not to use Semi or permanent dye on my hair as it is absorbed by the hair shafts and puts you at a higher risk of blood cancer.

Thanks for that Abby - we wouldnt want our mate Phyl doing anything that might cause her harm. So, its back to the beanie, I suppose  :)

I hope Phyl has got her hair sorted by now.  Abby, that is an interesting snippet you just put up, thanks for that.

The Cancer Council USA says there is no proof that hair dye causes cancer.

Must admit it makes no sense to me that it would cause cancer if one uses foils so that no dye touches the scalp. Hair is dead so the body would not absorb anything the shaft absorbs.

Hi folks.

The vit. c. albeit they were orange, lol did a part job, so good enough for me to not have to wear a wig or beanie, so when I do the treatment again I think I will look back to normal

You are right Robbie the hair is dead. Cannot hurt to streak :)

Some time back a newspaper article said "runners" can cause cancer. There would be millions with cancer surely if this were true. Anyway we all live our lives doing what we want. Remember when eggs were a no no and coffee and the list re cancer, just goes on and being dismissed some time later.

Difficult somedtimes to decide what to do.

Glad your vitamin C worked Phyl. Good for all of us to know we can use it if we have a dye catastrophe. Gerry and kfchugo will blissfully be free of ever having a dye catastrophe from what they tell us. I wonder if poo causes cancer?

It is good to be able to check on Google all of the cancer scare items that emerge. If we ran with them all we would be limiting ourselves to so many possibly enjoyable things.
