gotta love migrants

My pension payment is around $120 a fortnight, I am subsidised by my migrant wife who is not yet an Australian citizen. She has never taken one cent from Australian tax payers. And had to pay $6000 to the government to come here, Gotta love migrants.

What sort of pension are you on ???

Aged pension.  She has to keep me because my government wont.  It effectivily put us on one small wage.

why should anybody "keep"you, your wife should pack you off to Bunnings to do an honest day's work!!!

 johnboy

you ust have some assets or income to be receiving a reduced pension .. some selfunded retirees do not get any pension at all.

The only assets i have is my wife working two jobs broken shifts and grosses about $2400 a fortnight.  befor tax.  so then my payment is greatly reduced, along with many others.   But it puts us on a low wage. and why should she have to carry me anyway.

So you would be worse off if you were single. You would get $944.30/ftn, instead of app $2000/ftn between you now. Would you qualify for a Pension if you lived in her country?

The $2000 = $ 500 a week each,Two can live cheeper that one as long as one don't eat.Would you say $500 a week is a lot of money.  and still no one has answered my question,  Why should she have to work two jobs and have to carry me?

$500 a week each..let’s see now, that’s $26,000 per year. To someone who obviously did not provide enough for his old age…that is a lot of money.

You are asking “Why should she have to work two jobs and have to carry me?”

I am asking the same question. Why indeed? Many women would have shown you the door by now. Before you insult me, remember, you asked..and..I answered.

By the way do you "love all migrants" or just your wife who is supporting you financially?

surely if she worked less you would have more pension/?

Because you’re a couple! Simple. And if and when you’re both on a pension it’s about $711 of each so a lot less than your current $500pw week each. Better start saving to make up the shortfall or get a job yourself

Maybe your question should be, why should we carry you and her? At least she is working and can support you, also you haven't answered the question about what you would be entitled to if you live in her Country?

I can see that i am waisting my time on here, Their are 2 many people with 2 much money. The same people all the time with the same attitude answer all the posts .Its not your fault ,i'm ok jack.  and yes i like all migrants that i have met.and if i were in her country yes i still get a reduced pension.  Sopie ,you have no idea what i did with my money, was i healthy enough to work and save, did i have super ,not all do. But all you and many others on here care about is being negative to ever one and that is why i dont post very much.

Johnboy,

Yep all sorts of reasons why some people do not have enough funds in retirement and have to rely on the pension in their old age.

As I understand it one if the fastest growing poverty demographics in Australia presently is single women over the age of 60....

Many of these women have sporadic work patterns due to time out of the work force due to familial responsibilities ie. raising children, caring for elderly parents, choosing fairly low paid part-time or casual work over a lifetime rather than permanent full time work...Thus have never had much opportunity to build up huge superannuation reserves as a buffer against poverty..

Simplistic generalisation to think that everyone can provide for a financially comfortable old age because real life is not perfect and sh.t happens sometimes...and for some it's never been a level playing field..

Just answer the questions mate.

are you stupid Mcdaddy , Thats my point , i dont get the full pension here.Just because you reach pension age dont mean you will get it.  But it will never change while there are people like you and sophie that only care about themself.

We care about you mate, you are getting the most our fair country has to offer, my point is johnboy that I don't think you would get jack shit if you go and live in her country. If it is better there I suggest you both go and live there. You seem to be the stupid one. At least maybe have done some research about what might happen if your partner migrated here.

Shetso1.  Thanks,  i will go now.  Its nor rite what happens to a married coupple with one still working and i just wanted to put it out there. But this is not the place because the same OLD people with their old ways of thinking will never change, all they want to do is pick arguements

Their you go again Mcdaddy,  You see i did do the reaserch. But that dont make it rite.  You know the best way for us is for her to go on the dole and me get the pension, let the tax payer look after us,   but she has to much pride for that so she will work and work dame hard at that.  They take to much of my pension and she pays tax.But you keep your head in the sand, im alright jack.  bye now. enjoy your retirement Mcdaddy.

Well johnboy, it's neither here nor there whether I care or not.

At your time of life I am assuming you own your house outright..do you? I am pretty sure before you got married you were doing nicely on your pension.

Then one fine day, you thought, I am going to find me a wife...so off you flew to some foreign land and got hitched. Only trouble was, you did not check with Centrelink how it would affect your pension.

Now you want to blame the government for your choice?
