Content on TV.

I don't know about you folks but I'm sick of tennis / golf / motor racing / cricket on the tv all day long. I hate watching sport but love playing sports.

Davey I am with you--the amount of sport on TV drives me insane--and even half --in fact more than half the news is bloody sport--all the good programs are taken off to be replaced by darn mind numbing sport and wait till the blasted Olympics start OMG !!!!

I wouldn't mind watching sport on tv during the day, I just don't get the time LOL. As for TV itself, I  hardly watch it these days, can't stand the language, violence and sex that is tv of today.

If you watch the likes of --Insight--David Attent'--and the like there is none of that in those

Yes Deanna, and that's only the cartoons.

Bring back the old cowboy and Indian flicks.

Seth, your avatar, is that an enticement for Easter Bunny???????

You sound like my Hubby seth, although having said that he enjoys a good action movie but he has always loved his cowboy and Indians, but I couldn't watch them either, I couldn't stand the arrows going through.  Then of course there is always the exception to the rule like Ftroop.........LOL

It is not only daytime--as I don't watch it then it is on in the evening and the night as well all the Docos etc are missing at this time of year

Deanna the avatar is to remind the easter bunny that he may enjoy eating a carrot but my enjoyment will be greater eating him "Braised"

T.V. killed the Saturday afternoon matinee, Kids only, the screaming, yelling, stamping of feet at an exciting part, warning the hero where the villain was, then the serial, at a crucial part up pops "continued next week' to a rising chorus of moans.

I'm afraid the kids of today really miss out on a lot

I started to get depressed  when I found myself watching an american sitcom.

I agree PlanB that there are some good Docos on at times but I always seem to miss them because of being involved in other things and forget the time.  I use to love sitting back and just watching a good movie.

The other night I did watch a Documentary called 'The Last Lioness', very interesting but here again I don't normally watch them as I can't stand watching the kills that are part of nature, just me..........Talking of sitcoms seth......Fawlty Towers, Dads Army, Steptoe. Keeping up Appearances....I could be typing here all night..... We do have the DVD's of a lot of them. LOL

Hi Deanna,

I never watch anything live--as the Ads drive me insane--I always record and watch in my own time

My hubby can't stand the ads either, (they don't bother me unless I'm tired and want the program to finish) he flicks through the chanels while they are on and drives me insane LOL LOL,  'My Flicker' I call him.

Good idea recording programs.

Geez PlanB, I've just noticed this post is a month old, sorry I didn't reply sooner, must have missed it.  Cheers.

Me too and all because Plan B told me how good it was to record everything - ha ha.

7Two is one of the best of the new free to air channels - doing heaps of reruns of Heartbeat The Bill Dad's Army and lots of old programs with no swearing and life pretty much as it was before it disintegrated in the bad language and lawlessness we live under now - So Deanna get yourself one of the Panasonic HD recorders - and watch what you like when you like and skip the ads as Plan B said.

Mind you they took off some of these on 7two for the chance to watch the grass  grow - oops - tennis when always was on 7 but got lots of complaints seemingly as didnt do it again.............people power in action.

Caught a segment last night or night before on a woman in Brisbane who lives bang next door to a petrol station where every saturday night the hoons arrive and cause havoc and she rings the police and nothing - channel7 was there and she rang and no police came and 1 hour later back came the hoons who had fled when she rang etc - police never came at all - that is sure sign we have almost lawlessness...except for speeding.

Saw that myself BigVal, and didn't the hoons enjoy the fact the Police didn't come.......

We do have a recorder, have had it for some time, my problem is I don't seem to have the time to sit and watch anything, when I do I fall asleep anyway:) :)

I tend to work on the computer or do some quilting at nights and we are always busy during the day.  We have got quite a collection of DVD's which we will watch when we do slow down but am hoping that's not anytime soon LOL.

Not much point in complaining of TV content. Programme planners tend to target the tastes of the majority who seem to prefer programmes  that don't require too much thought. Take a trip to your local Public Library and borrow from their extensive range of documentaries and movies on DVD. Or, even more radical, borrow a book. Works for me!!!!

Glad you are enjoying your recorder Val

It's the perspective thing.

All the new channels regurgitating anything and everything ever made for television is about advertising revenue.

If you owned a tv station you'd love it.

The sport, the rubbish, everything.

PS: I'm watching less and less tv because of the brain deadening programs

I'd prefer to watch cricket or footy any day rather that the 27th repeat of the simpsons.
