Content on TV.

I don't know about you folks but I'm sick of tennis / golf / motor racing / cricket on the tv all day long. I hate watching sport but love playing sports.

I'm waiting for the repeat of 'Dad and Dave" even a felix the cat cartoon.

I am watching the Dads Army DVD's of which I  have the full set of 27 ............am about to tune into no 4 this evening

Good for a good laugh clay, English humour can be very funny.

To keep Seth happy..........

Love it Zapot,...... :) :)

Zapot I'm so happy for you, once again your out of prison, enjoy yourself.

Seggie.  You are a tonic, Zapot.

As for boring t.v., yes, you are right. Libraries are the way to go. You can borrow DVD's and books, sit and read the daily paper. What more could one want?

You are absolutely right, TV boring - read most of my favourite authors at the local library so bought a Kindle ereader, absolutely wonderful - now I just press a button and my books are delivered straight to my kindle, hundreds of books available from $0.99 to $25, hundreds of older titles for less than $5.

I recieved a kindle for Christmas I took it back to the shop because the battery was always flad the next day even though i would have only used it about an hour at least. They changed it but i find there is not much difference. I spend more time charging it than I do reading with it.

i like austral.TV but watch mostly ABC TV  1/2/or 24 plus SBS 1/2 & if there is nothing

that i like i watch 1 of my many opera/docu dvds.....so there are many choices....

i do not watch any of the tabloid stations like TV 7/9/10

talofa

I watch nothing live I record everything and watch when  I want--so allways have plenty of good shows to watch

Does anyone else feel as I do, that car advertisements promote speed, aggression and dangerous driving?  That they create the precise opposite effect that road safety programs attempt to promote?  How can TV let this happen?

++++++++

Yes I feel the same way--and aslo that show "Top Gear" although I do enjoy their humour--it sends the wrong message to some

I agree on that bloody top gear being bad for kids.

I'm thinking of starting free driving lessons to older people like us and to kids on P plates. Just in my area to help revise road safety.

Off topic somewhat - but  to Nan Norma re the short term battery life.  Are you connecting to the internet everytime you read ar book?  This will flatten the battery very quickly.  You don't need to, not with the kindle anyway.  The only time you connect to the net is if you are ordering books.  I hope the answer is as simple as this, because I find of all modern technology, this rates high on my list.

As for TV, I can't understand people complaining, there is an off button and there are some really good programs on the radio.

I've heard that these ebook things only allow you to download a book and keep it for a certain amount of time - then it's wiped from the ebook. Something like three weeks after. Is this correct?

Ductape - I have a Kindle and there is no time limit for keeping a book.  After you have read it you can archive it and recall it any time you want.  There are other ebooks on the market so you would need to check their conditions out.
