Change of status

As I write this, there should be a court case in progress involving me.
My partner of 35 years has filed for divorce.

So my status will be changed from separated to divorced or single.
Loneliness is no fun, that is probably why I come here to chat online.

Can I join in these conversations? I am pretty new at this computer game but your section seems interesting.

Welcome lolih.

Always nice to see a new 'face'.

This an open forum with lots of topic headings to browse. Hope to see you join in on some of them.

Hi fwed again. I am not certain, but I understand that the disability support pension is still based on a couple rate. I believe that the single rate is substantially more. I sincerely hope that I am not leading you up the garden path.

I was getting a higher rate on the disability support pension than I got when I went onto the age pension.

Centerlink deemed that I was earning an income which I was not, so I was on a lower rate of age pension.

When I started getting a small amount from an Allocated Pension they no longer deemed I was getting an income , so raised my age pension - figure that out .

If I have no income they deem that I have an income.

If I have an income they say that I have no income.

I actually checked with them to make sure they had not made a mistake.

:lol:Hey fwed, where are ya? We have more joining in now, smileys 'n' all! And YOU started it. This is more fun than fighting, isn't it? Welcome to dusty1930 and lolih. Have to go and write some cheques for my community "job". Might be back later. Jools

There you are, fwed! We must have been posting at the same time. I don't understand much about Centrelink, fwed. It almost seems that it depends on who you are talking to, just what applies. Sometimes I wonder if they make it up as they go along!! Well, now I really have to write those cheques. I have been sitting on the bills for 3 days!

;-) Hi Jools , keep smiling, yes, more fun than arguin :blank:

Hi again fwed. What you have come across is inexplicable, even for the 26,000 Centerlink interpreters. I would love to get the details & your authority to take this one on, but, can I suggest that you don't accept it, & give all the info to your local Federal Member. Their staff have a lot of dealings with Centerlink, usually at a rather senior level. If you would like to write to me privately, I would be more than happy to take it up for you with Michael O'Neill at National Seniors. You don't need these hassles with your other problems, at the moment

innes, maybe I did not explain it fully.

I had some superannuation which they deemed I had an income from but I was not getting an income from it at that stage..

That is normal, it is not a mistake.

When i started getting an income in the form of an allocated pension, the deeming stopped.

But the allocated pension was not enough to prevent me getting the full age pension.

I have it in writing from centrelink.

I did that to make sure that they could not say I was cheating them later.

It sounds strange , but then what is not strange with the way they do things.

fwed,f there is a different rule for the pension held back & deemed than the allocated pension that you later became eligible for. The big question is:- Are you now getting the full single pension of approx., $670 per fortnight? If not, I think you should be.

yep innes I am getting the full pension of $671.90

I felt that I had a win and wanted to be sure.

That is why I checked with them,

Hi Everyone, I'm watching the ABC - the School Spectacular. Where was all this stuff when I was a teenager? God, by now I'd have been RICH and not depending on the infinite generosity of the federal government. I wonder if there's any chance of doing it all over again, so maybe I will have that chance? These kids leave Idol etc for dead and they are still at school. Quick, watch it. I'm gobsmacked and I only found it by accident. Wow!!!!!!!

I agree ............I am watching it also ...................

I have just finished watching the Spectacular. WOW!!!!

Loved the finale, Clay, I'm a huge John Farnham fan. I probably enjoyed the show more because I come from a musical background which began with me singing almost the entire Presbyterian hymn book from about age 5 or 6, listening to Mario Lanza, Benhamino Guili (might have the spelling wrong!) all the 1950' musicals, Gilbert & Sullivan (belonged to the Canberra Philharmonic at one time where I first sang G & S), country & western to the classics (that's where my voice range lies). Hope my neighbours will forgive me - I had the volume WAAAAAY up. I think it will be on a dvd, so must have a look at the ABC shop. Pity if the rest of you missed it. Sensational stuff.
