Can anyone recommend a good Video?

Mrs, Innes here.

I am getting worried about hiring movies from the video shop. Most of them seem to be crap!!!

Can someone here recommend something good?? TV is out, as I can rarely find something worth watching. Because of that I recently canceled Foxtel, and free to air is no better.

Most modern movies seem to be full of explicit violence or (almost) porn. Stuff I really don't want to see. Must say though, I did enjoy the Bucket List.

I am thinking of getting out one called Gran Torino--

PlanB - I liked Gran Torino. I hope you enjoy it too.

Mrs Innes, there was a movie starring Robin Williams as the doctor- Patch Adams, about the guy who wanted to be a doctor and did not fit the mould and he is known as the doctor who introduced laughter as part of treatment. Do not know if the movie is called Patch Adams but I guess the video shop would know and it is a funny and moving film.

What about some of the old but goodies, Cape fear with robert mitchum, westerns, are you into science fiction or horror( I am) , do not like mushy movies much as I am quite a tomboy (yes even at the age of 61) but I did love Sleepless in Seattle.

I am managing to hang onto to Foxtel (certainly not the top package by any means) because I love the history channel, the national geographic, hallmark and so many others, the classics channel is a goodie because apart from it showing a lot of old tv shows I like it does have movies on it too.

I saw Patch Adams and really enjoyed it - but I saw that a long time ago. Maybe it is time to rehire it. hahaha.

I got fed up with Foxtel. I did like it the first year or so, but got turned off by the constant repeats. I didn't have the top package either, of course. I hire a lot of DVD's from the local library. Thanks for your input toot.

Mrs Innes, I belong to Web Flicks and you can borrow 3 or more dvds at a time. There is a huge range and a blurb on the type of movie, maybe that would suit you.

Thanks for that. I have never heard of Web Flicks. I will check into it - sure sounds good.

Mrs Innes - I have seen "The Bucket List" and I loved it, so maybe we do share the same taste. I look forward to hearing your views on the other two, and also some recommendations from yourself and other posters.

Hi Pommy - have you seen Harold and Maud????
