Another propaganda exercise from WOOLWORTHS

I saw on TV last night that Woolworths is touting some revolutionary policy to put money back in the pockets of its customers. It sounded quite exciting, but the reality was more mundane. They are reducing prices (very slightly) on a range of shelf items.......usually just 20 to 30 cents. They claim this will be a permanent reduction, they are listening to their customers.....the usual promo dribble.
For my money, it is too little and much too late. I really hope ALDI, IGA, Costco and all the other serious competitors send coles and Woolworths broke as they have been ripping off the Australian consumer for a great many years.

Well said kfchugo, but unfortunately shoppers are usually guided by their hip pocket.

The big two have cheaper prices although at times questionable product quality. I guess people are prepared to overlook this and shocking 'service' to save a buck.

Ive learnt there's a Foodland not far from me that offers 5% discount to seniors on Thursdays so I might give them a try. Its not much but over a year it will add up

Thats the spirit Tanwin......if we all start supporting the competition, they will eventually get stronger so weakening the "terrible two". I try to shop at IGA or Aldi, even though it means a fair drive (past several of the competitions outlets). I must admit that when in a hurry, I sometimes do get a few things from Coles/Woolies but every dollar we deprive them of helps the community.

I think when Aldi eventually arrives in SA it will be a wake-up call to the big two and by then Im hoping it will be too late for them to mend their ways.

I just wish Aldi would hurry up

Me too Tanwin. We have 2 Coles and 2 Woolworths all within a couple of blocks here at Prospect.

It just depends where Aldi will locate when they come to SA as to whether I will be able to get there

I tried our FOODLAND today after being warned they were dearer.

But bloody hell they are VERY expensive with items varying from +29c up to +$1.34 per item dearer. I could never understand why my second wife always ran out of shopping money -- now I know!

I only grabbed a few things before realising that my income would prevent me shopping there regularly even though I received 5% pensioner discount. So its back to sloppy rude service at WOOLWORTHS that is in keeping with my hip-pocket
