You won't believe what they are putting in pies these days

The actual contents of a meat pie have always been a little bit questionable.

But some of the fanciest pies on the market will really have you scratching your head.

I love a good Reuben sandwich but putting the contents of a Reuben into a pie seems like a bit of a stretch to me. It has paid off however for the Miami Bakehouse in Mandurah, Western Australia.

The WA bakery landed 18 prestigious gold and silver medals out of 18 entries for both sweet and savoury pies and sausage rolls, plus also emerging as the national winner in the red meat pie category.

Miami Bakehouse, known for creating unique pie flavours and its baking expertise have a lot to be proud of. For 18 years they have been entering national and local food competitions for their baking skills and exciting flavours.

The sweet and savoury baking teams at Miami Bakehouse have been celebrating with 11 new gold awards and 7 silver, plus two major Awards, first Place Gourmet Red Meat Pie category for The Reuben Pie and third place for their Plain Meat Pie award, bringing the total awards won to over 54 this year across all the Baking Industry competitions.

I have to admit, if I lived in Mandurah, I'd probably be tempted to try the Rebuen Pie.

Do you live in WA? Have you been to the Miami Bakehouse? What is the best pie you have had from the bakery? Which bakery do you think sells the best meat pie?

Nope, don't like the look of those pies. Something straight out of Sweeney Todd oven

Interesting. No I don't live over there but have to admit a like a good pie. Favourite is probably a nice curry pie in winter in Tassie. Tassie has some great bakeries.

If you live in Qld, you have to go to the Brekky Creek Hotel..they have a truly wonderful Steak and Kidney pie to die for!

I seldom eat pies, but when I do I get one from our local Goldsteins Bakery, a couple of minutes down the road. My favourite is their Malaysian Lamb Curry Pie.

Villies Pies are the best in South Assie for sure. Another one is on the Gold Coast, can't remember the name.

Home made is best in my opinion. I have tried the Miami pie on the way down South in WA, it is OK.  However my favourite has to be from the Denmark Bakery/WA.

Don’t forget to order a dessert at Denmark Bakery

Gum Tree Pies in Yackandandah. They have a wonderful range of flavours
