Xmas mince pies which are the best

Aldi and Coles are supposed the best and I bought a packet of each.

Had some at lunch time (the Coles "Finest" ones on sale at present for $5 for 6).

They were lovely.  The pastry was divine ...lovely light and flakey.

On Xmas Day I will be trying the Aldi ones.  They would need to be very, very good to beat the Coles ones.

Has anyone else tried either brand yet??

Have tried a couple Radish ... they are lovely but oh so rich. My digestive system instantly objects with disastrous cosequences. Think you get the picture ... lovely, but not for me.

sorry to hear that R-n-R....I must be one of the lucky ones lol...I can eat anything.

:) In that case Radish ... have a wonderful Christmas and indulge to your heart's desires ... wish I could!!

BTW: Tomorrow night is the Night of the Radishes, in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico. Enjoy!!

i have only tried safeway RADISH,     had one,   the birds got the rest,    very little fruit,   and very dry,       i dont normaly buy them,  as hubby doesnt like them,  [doesnt like fruit cake,  or pudding either,    anything with dried fruit[       i will try COLES ones next time i go,    i was in there today,   but didnt even think of mince pies,

ty for the best wishes and the same to you R-n-R...yep the Night of the Radishes...must try and get there one year ;)  LOL.

Cats, I am not a lover of mince pies...only bought because hubby is...but as I said I tried one and it was lovely.   It boils down to buying the better quality...like many other things.  Coles may have some on sale if you are in there in the next day or so and you could give them a try.  Make sure you buy the black box ones  with the word Finest on it.  There are cheaper ones for $1.50 but I would not even try those.

Hope you have a lovely Xmas and NY as well.

Every lot of mince pies I picked up were IMPORTED!!!!   so I put them back -- were your imported???

I believe the Coles ones I bought were Aussie made and the Aldi ones I have yet to eat are from the United Kingdom.

I have no problem with food from other countries;  it is just the vegetables from China that worry me the most and fish.

Also will not eat imported pork

The Coles Finest are definitely made in Australia and all aussie ingredients.  Taken from this web site

Yes, it is R-n-R...I have bookmarked that for use at a later date.  Saves me carrying round a magnifying glass when I go shopping ;)

If there are any left I will be buying some next week --   from Coles --- I hate Aldi as they never have the proper barcodes and everything always says from  Minchinbury

THANK YOU so very much RnR for that wonderful Food facts site

Hope you get some PlanB...but I think your chances are slim...all at our supermarket were snapped up pretty quick...but good luck :)

We will start eating the Aldi ones today. :)

I bought some Coles Mincepies delicious.

my son is providing us with the traditional Christmas lunch tomorrow great to be with the grandchildren.

My day is Boxing Day. No individual Mince Pies on Boxing Day as my teenage grandchildren have asked for my mincemeat Bomb Alaska. Sponge as the base then a layer of Sweet Mincemeat, a block of ice cream all covered with Meringue then a quick browning in the oven. New oven so I hope I get the temperature right! Normally a big success.

All the best Viv. Sounds very fancy.

Cole or Woolworths, I don't care, I can't resist a mince pie.  Next year I am going to have a go at making some myself.  I am the only one that eats them in our house so I can go heavy on the rum.

The only mince pie worth eating - gourmet wagyu beef mince

Coopers Handmade Pies: Wagyu beef pie and beer.
