Wouldn't it be Loverly :)

Wouldn't Seniors whether on a Government Pension or Fully Self Supporting or Part Self Supporting and all Persuasions of folk, be happy with a bloke like Senator Nick Xenophon looking after our interests..........
If only.
All the best

Good idea Phyl ...........who of us would contact him and ask his advice and help and it may save us starting our own Political Party as has been sugested in this Forum ...........

...

He may be able to lobby our interests or at least listen to our concerns.........

You would do us proud Clay.

Go on you contact him! From Acorns grows a Mighty Oak. When will you? today? tomorrow?

How exciting - see something good can happen any day any time.

All the best

Phyl.

Thanks for your confidence in me Phy but I had innes in mind ...............He was pushing for the establishment of our own Political Party ................if he reads this section he may comment ...............clay

Now maybe Nick would be interested in a pensioners party - Nick, senator for pensioners - now that would be a winner :)

Any discussion re Nick for Seniors seems a little off thread here, but I will offer some thoughts. (as invited by Clay) I generally agree that he would be wonderful for our interests, but, we would need a very good connection, to get to speak to him for more than 15 minutes. If you look at the situation with open eyes, you will note that he is somewhat of a Political opportunist. He is also an accomplished stunt & media master. Quite a few of the posters, on this site would drop him immediately they discovered that he was once a Young Liberal. If my memory serves me right, he actually was the Leader for a period of time, during his student years at the Uni of Adelaide & following some extremely smart vote rigging, to which he admitted to. As an Independant, he won a quota, in his own right, without preferences, making him the most powerful Politition in Australia. I am not trying to be funny, but a genuine question, would be:- Why would Nick, who polled, not far behind the combined Liberal Candidates, in South Australia, with a massive personal vote, from all ages, be the slightest bit interested in being involved with the Seniors", of whom, more than 50% will drop him, as soon as they realise that he is an ex Lib., with a strong friendship with Bob Brown?

"Any discussion re Nick for Seniors seems a little off thread here"

Very curious indeed...........considering there are many threads in the correct section........HOT TOPICS..........discussing the issues of SENIORS Representation , politicians and policies , and where it is suggested we should be happy with what we have, and not complain, or even discuss.

Gee, now we are arguing about whether a post is in the right area.

Does it really matter ?

Don't worry Phyl, I enjoy your posts and it is a bit sad when some want to pick on you because you are happy.

Maybe some of the whingers are jealous of someone who is happy.

"Gee, now we are arguing about whether a post is in the right area. "

Gerry, I just fail to understand why, in the serious discussions, people feel they have the right to jump in mid thread, and lecture us on how we should feel and live.

Why can't those who wish to discuss serious matters be left to do so??? That's all I'm asking .

These constant digs at BigVal and myself in particular about our attitude is wearisome.

You and I disagree on some issues, not all by the way....and I enjoy reading your robust replies to comments.

Brings a bit of life onto the forums.

My main point was not that the discussion is in the wrong place....but after being lectured about not being all happy talk, the author then re-introduces the very same serious topic here in general discussion , after lecturing us on not being happy.

This is nothing to do with whether you or I or or BigVal or anyone is happy!

WE ARE JUST TRYING TO HAVE SERIOUS DISCUSSIONS>

The constant sniping and digging at other posters is not necessary.

Why on earth we can't live and let live on the forums is totally beyond me.

koko, the reason I replied is because it seemed to me that some were trying to belittle Phyl.

OK then...maybe other people feel belittled by the sniping.

Thank you Gerry - you are very kind.

I could write a book at some of the nasty snipes I have received for being happy on this forum

It was said some time back I was ruining the forum because I put things on the board lighthearted and a particular person wanted everything to be Political hence the General Discussion area was formed BUT I fail to see why if a post goes off topic or even dare I say not in agreement with those who are only happy when applauding the Liberal party and berating anyone who ever dares to say the Labour Party is o.k. what does it matter??? Read the first line and dismiss it. I vote with my lowly one vote and I know it is always being thrown up I like the Labour Party but to be honest I am not Politically orientated at all, and will swing whenever the gate looks to be open in a better direction.

High Blood Pressure is prevalent with us over 50's so why get all het up.

I once dared to say somehting about the same person's post on the other forum never realising the person did not want to be know but I did it innocently and the backlash wow......

I just get over what people say and yes I could just leave here but I am a bit of a Bulldog where injustice for anyone including myself is concerned so hang around because I want to.

I read the first line of posts I have no interest in! as everyone has a right to write them but I also can choose not to read all the Political stuff which goes on and on and on but I dont care.

I have some lovely friends here and I will keep being happy here as long as Admin. allows me to stay and until I want to leave but nah I won't be pushed.........:)

We did have a wonderful day today at Moe and Churchill and realise we down here in the Valley are very lucky we were not all burnt to death in those fires last year.

What's not to be happy about.

All the best

Phyl.

To be honest I do not understand why anyone who does not like me or my style of posting reads my posts????? Why go to any heading and see who posted it whether Discussions or anywhere else for that matter at all, if you do not want to read someone's posts you dislike? I do not like everyone either lol but they do not worry me..........

I rarely go to any post to read I have no interest in, so it beats me to be honest as I see the name of someone I know will be on the same subject as always (good for her) I do not read any of them so I am happy with my lot and do not actually care a fig if others love being miserable - Life is very short and counting the years past is a while ago but looking forward? who knows......We are here today and I am loving it as it will be gone in the morning :)

All the best

Phyl.

Last one on this as it gets to be silly :)

Since when did Hot Topics become Koko and Big Val's Political Party "only" discussion may I please ask?

I see many and varied topics there, not just Political and also not actually ONLY

serious stuff as "Hot Topics can and really should be any old thing any other posters choose to believe is a "Hot Topic"? Hot Topic can conjure up quite exciting things far and above Politics lol

I think it was Brandy wrote something to the point it is the two talking to each other (that is in my opinion not my business as I don't care who talks to whom anywhere any time) I just read any post I like the header of, or the poster, but often if I do not care for either I do not take the time to read them, but my choice surely, and who cares who writes about what? good to see posts of any type which do not harm as after all we are all big people by our age yes?

Maybe ask admins. if you Koko and Big Val and whomever else wants, ( if it worries you this much) , could you have a Political Party debate Forum for yourselves Good idea?

Go for it, Admins. are quite accommodating and if it will stop arguments because I worry you because I am too happy it has to be a good thing maybe?

All the best

Phyl.

“Hot Topics can and really should be any old thing any other posters choose to believe is a “Hot Topic”? "

Admin informed the forum community at the the time of introduction that Hot Topics was for more serious discussion.
