Woolworths

I can't beleive that Woolies do no longer stock Icing sugar--they have Icing Sugar Mixure--which is useless for Icing--they have also cut back on Almond Icing as well--I also was unable 3 weeks in a row to buy mixed fruit! You would think that at this time of the year they would stock such things.

Coles/Woolies seem intent on shaping the grocery industry in this country to suit their convenience and "bottom line". They have no interest in supplying what the consumer wants, but seem intent on making us want what they choose to supply. They are phasing out "brand" names in favour of their own genetic labels and seem to be narrowing our choice of products. We desperately need more competition in this country

Yes kfchugo, we sure do--there is talk of building an Aldi here next year--that MAY help to bring them to their senses--I hope-but I won't hold my breath

It is a real pain each big supermarket lacks some things people use regularly.

Even Aldi which has changed our lives and I am extremely grateful to have near us and saves us heaps, does not have any icing sugar! or chopped frozen onion or even gravy mix and in fact quite a few other items we use every week BUT still love em.

Aldi in the area sure does make Woolworths and Coles sit up and take notice. We have just found Churchill (not far from us where the big fires and loss of lives is) has a huge new IGA so another great place to go. Petrol costs? cheap day out for Peter and I and the scenery along the Country roads is beautiful and always something new to see.

Life's good.

Very sensible of you Phyl...... we MUST support the opposition or Coles/Woolies will take over. They are already diversifying into other areas such as petrol stations, hardware, gambling, alcohol etc., etc. If we are not careful, a handful of conglomerates will end up controlling the Australian retail industry.

They seduce us with convenience.

The saddest part of this is that most of us allow them to get away with it because "it saves us money" if we didn't buy there own brands ,they wouldn't have the shelves stocked with them.but Buy them we do ...not I, I hasten to add .I will not buy anything that has coles or woolies brand on it , That is not because I am rolling in money ,I have my pension and sod all else , but I can't ,and don't whinge about them and still support them .to me they are parasites ,,Yes I go go there, but not to buy what they want me to have, but to search for things they dont own, that are still available I admit it gets harder

Me either Dusty--I buy the names I am used to--and look for Aussie made and grown--although that is becoming rather impossible --as it always says --from imported and local

or chopped frozen onion or ..........

Phyl.

Gee, fancy not selling chopped frozen onion.

I love it, ... no tears chopping up onion.

Any shop not selling that will not get my dollars :)
