Winter is here! How do you get through the cold months?

Winter arrived in Australia this week, and some parts of the country’s south-east had an early taste of it. Melbourne’s maximum temperature on May 30 was just 11.7°C, making it the coldest day in Victoria’s capital since July last year, and the next day – officially the last day of autumn – was colder still, the mercury peaking at just 11.4°C.

Now that we're in June, things aren't looking any better for Melbournites who don't like the cold, with a southerly air blast forecast to continue for some time.

Meanwhile in Canberra, May finished off with tops of just 8.0°C and 9.6°C, and kicked off winter with a maximum of just 8.3°C yesterday. In Hobart, it has been similarly icy.

Unsurprisingly, things aren’t quite as cold in our nation’s other capitals just yet, but winter is well and truly here for many of us.

Some people love the colder weather, others despise it. For some, the shorter days and colder air can have very real consequences, with SAD (Seasonal Affectative Disorder) observed as a genuine problem.

How do you approach winter? Do you have tips for getting through the cold months with a minimum of fuss?
