Why?

Why is it that when I go to my chemist for a script, he has no generic brands in stock? He never seems to run out of the branded names. Is it just profit driven? Went in this morning for my blood pressure medication, said yes I'll take the generic brand, (it's worked for me for years). When it became time to collect, it was the brand name - at $4.50 more expensive. I had a bit of a discussion with the chemist and I ended up with the brand name product, for the generic price - he hadn't asked me if I wanted to go for the more expensive brand, before he dispensed it.

Hi Bev,

I've noticed the same thing lately. They have appoligised to me during my previous two repeat scripts saying they still didn't have the generic brand in I'd been using for yonks. Sounds like there could be something going on here. Next time I'll phone to see if they have them and if not I'll go elsewhere.

If they'd told me - I would have gone elsewhere

I find when I go for a script (very seldom for myself, mainly for the aged parent) whatever chemist I go to automatically offers me the generic brand. In fact sometimes I have to ask for the original because my parent gets confused when medications have a different name.

Yes ours does the same ............we find him very tyrustworthy

Another thing:- We went to the one chemist for most of last year but changed because of the Drug Addicts waiting for their I am thinking it would be a Methadone Dose? as some people were yelling and I was a bit nervous. Anyway we went to another chemist but when we looked at the sheet where the prescriptions are listed many were not added. We asked the first chemist and they said albeit the same chain they were not affiliated. What I am getting at here is although it is kept on computer how many prescriptions until we get free ones end of year (I think it is after 48) does it matter which chemist? does it matter that it is not always put on the list we take with us for inclusion?

Who does the checking of how many a person has for the year? Is it on a big data base? I know dilly us have never bothered to check and most years never receive any free ones although probably more than 48.

Anyone know?

Phyl.
