How much longer will the Minister for Energy in the inept Morrison govt, Angus Taylor, continue to LIE and get away with saying that power prices are coming down? I have just heard him on the radio AGAIN sprouting untruths.
Now before the LNP diehards jump all over me accusing/labelling me of something I am not could someone please tell this boofhead in fact energy prices are continuing to rise? The election was supposedly fought in part on energy costs and Angus has been warming a chair for 12 months now and has apparently achieved ZERO
Or is this yet another broken promise from this disappointing under-achieving government?

Cheap energy is another sucker promise. Its the next in a long string of blatant lies. The only cheap energy is in installing rooftop solar, but the you need a battery to make it all work properly and batteries are still too expensive.
Just out of interest sake I read a GetUp mailing this morning. GetUp, like the ABC, journalists which do not tow the party line and whistleblowers is being attcked by Morrison and his cronies. As I repeatedly say we are witnessing the birth of a dictatorship like the Chinese one where democracy is not allowed. There'll only be expensive coal fired power permitted if this is allowed to occur.

The truth, something the current government is incapable of telling, is that renewables are ALREADY cheaper than coal and falling further. That's the dirty secret the coal companies and its controlled government never tell you about.
The only issue to yet oversome is affordable storage. That could be via batteries or via hydro where we force water back up to a higher level with any daytime excess energy and then realease it via turbines when the sun goes down.
Humanity is in a state of extreme change. Electricity is only one issue but the powers that be refuse to address the other issue because they are the vested interests and you don't upset the money apple cart. Eventually we'll have to or the planet will fight back with crop failures, mass starvation and many more things none of us want to think about because she'll be right.....

Cheaper energy??? Never happen while its privatised and sold off to overseas interests. That includes electricity. gas and other forms. If they could sell off wind and solar they would do that too.

Electricity will be free the sun will always shine and when batteries improve and become cheaper everyone will generate their own power its already happening around the world china is the biggest producer of solar power in the world. This governement should be looking to cash in with new technology and not rely on selling coal to other countries because those countries will eventually stop buying our coal its the way of the future accept it this governement and the billionairs that support this mob cannot accept it

As valid as your point is, Sophie, the fact remains that people shouldn’t have so little money that they are unable to keep themselves warm. Especially as the assets belonging to the people were sold off and squirrelled away from the people who owned it and put into a fund to be used by a small section to keep themselves warm, well fed and assured of a large pension for life.

An issue with the cost of gas is that our natural gas is being sold off overseas and thus depriving us of supplies this pushing the price up. The crazy thing is it is being sold at much lower prices to overseas countries than gas from the Middle East. We are losing both ways our gas is way too expensive to us but Australia is not getting the returns it should from the overseas sale of one of our natural resources.

Meanwhile we, the poor consumers, are paying the price while the government throw up excuses and point the finger at others. They are of course ably supported by some elements of the media.

Never ASSUME anything a politician is going to give you.
Renewable is already cheaper. They take excess power from my solar panels and pay me 8.8 cents per unit and resell it at 30+ cents per unit. They are doing the same for thousands like me.
