Where is everybody?

I recently sent a P.M. and looked up the list of members. Surprisingly, there were over 500 PAGES with 20 members per page - thats OVER 10,000 members.
When we look at the "Meeting Place" we see about 20 people posting on a regular basis and I am surprised that so many members choose not to use the facility. Could I suggest that admin consider sending a monthly email to all members highlighting the major/interesting issues discussed and inviting members to check it out and contribute. Emails are free and it should not be a major administrative burden to type one email and broadcast to all members. I receive such emails from other forums that I contribute to and find them useful.....and if they are not, they can easily be deleted. The current monthly email mentions the meeting place, but it may be "swallowed up" and not noticed by many. Would a specific "Meeting place" email prompt greater interest?
If anyone else has helpful suggestions to improve the site or member participation, it can only benefit all members and make our site more vibrant, interesting and informative.
I invite discussion/ suggestions........

Good idea Hugo. While we have to accept death and aging for the loss of a lot of members contributing to the site, surely we can expect at least 10% to be active.

I am hunting Santa Claws.

When i find him i am going to slowly torture him to death.

I loved my younger days with Santa Clause but I hate what the media and commerce has done to the magic of Christmas.

This silly season starts now in early November and continues until half way through Febuary.

Don't try to order a spare part or try to get anything repaired until it is all over.

LOL Octopus--maybe you and I can gang up on Santa--I feel the same

Is Santa a member here ?

Well send him an email as well and get him to participate and let him know about the lack of spare parts and repairs.

I think I have his email somewhere .....well the admin here should have it if he is a member :)

Greaat idea kfc Admins. are very helpful.

Also Octopus we could send people who do not believe in Santa Clause away together so they can

enjoy not enjoying Christmas so those that do, will not make those hate Christmas miserable!

Some people live in Paradise where the sea meets the sand and everyday is wonderful but then again wherever we live as long as we are happy is good.

We love living in The Valley - the Valley of love.

What we cannot do today we do tomorrow and what we cannot get today we will eventually!

The bargains around at the moment are amazing.

Our very big freezer is chockers with lovely stuff but have to admit the peaches and apricots this year are a bit sour. Has anyone else found this?

Bought outstanding cherries though for just $7.95 a kilo - big and juicy. Our house is yin and yan as life is; so a bit of sour makes the sweet just a tad sweeter :)

We have a lovely big older renovated to suit us home and we love it, but it has a very long passage so we have a huge mirror on the door so the luck will not go out the back from the front but stay inside with us.

There I go "off topic again" bad me but it is kfc's topic and he won't whack me :)

Isn't the weather beautiful? such a joy to go shopping.

All the best

Phyl.

Hi Phyl--I already enjoy NOT likeing Xmas--just makes me smile seeing all running around like headless chooks--me I am very relaxed and know that come the 26th it is all over once again

I would like to hope that those elderly folk that live alone can find some happiness over Christmas.

Also the homeless and others less fortunate than ourselves.

Christmas can be a great time for families to get together and be happy, but we should not forget those I mention above.

Good on you Jane nobody can tell anyone they have to be happy I know many oldies are not, and I honestly do believe there has to be something in not enjoying anything so there is something to be happy about even in that.

I just hope all is not over on the 26th. as Boxing day Sales are fantastic. and every weekend and at least one Sunday market a week is Christmas for Seniors who enjoy spending with not heaps of money and not needing too much for themselves, as we can always buy something for the Christmas Cupboard :)

Am I a headless chook? sure lol.

All the best

Phyl.

I know you love your Xmas Phyl and good on you --I hope it is a very happy one and I hope the coming year brings all good things ;)

G'Day all I am just a newby here and hope I don't tread on any toes.

Phyl I sort of agree with you re xmas people seem to have fun running around like chooks with no heads. As the old year comes to an end my heart beats a little faster ?v^?v^?? Cause the FOOTY season is a little closer.I have been on withdrawl for months well so my family says.

I hope there are some AFL people here.

Hi Zapot and welcome--I am sure there are many Footy people here however I am not one of them--

Hmmm Plan B is not a footy follower now that could be a good thing .Because every other footy

follower( other than me of cause) is SO one eyed it is impossible to get an objective view so I guess if I ask you Plan B a footy question at least I will get an honest answer.
