What's your take on the Barnaby Joyce saga?

Is it in the Australian public's best interest to learn more about Barnaby Joyce's private life, or is it just interesting for the Australian public?

I do so agree with you Marjie.  Perhaps it's time for the writers here to branch out on a bit of propaganda to reverse the status quo. Let's be canaries and sing out about the burden to taxpayers of welfare ex politicians, the corruption of high politicians' pensions, the theft by politicans of working Australians' pensions.

The thing is, a universal pension for bona fide pensioners would make us independent whereas when our security hangs by a thread on the whims of politicians we are then completely dependent and, they think, more biddable.

Barnaby deserves all the criticism.  This is not about his family, they are victims of Barnaby’s choices and actions.  So are his constituents, and the rest of the Australian public.  None of the so-called righteous Christians in the Government have made any criticism of his adultery.  Just as well he isn’t gay.  One of the righteous members even gave his partner a job and a promotion?

Barnaby is a serial liar by omission, he always said his Mother and Grandmother was born in Australia, so he must be an Australian.  Never mentioned his Farther (now we know why).

How can we trust this Kiwi import to remain as the deputy PM. Has he been acting as double agent for all those years?

Good point Triss.

canberra journalist michelle grattan has written an article about b. joyce and his so-called 'family values'. i wonder how mrs. joyce and the rest of the family are feeling?

Consider precisely what we are looking at here. A re-partnering, after an affair that started in a ministerial office, that has involved a painful family breakdown. This week’s coverage has made things even more difficult for Joyce’s wife and four daughters. The family’s anguish has been obvious in Natalie Joyce’s bitter public comments.”

Yes and we are only hearing one side of the story .

Having been through this position myself there is simply no way outsiders could know the dynamics that led to the current situation. .

Well he is a public figure and therefore keeping your personal life private would be hard, if not impossible. What he has done to his family is despicable and if he thinks he wont be judged for that he is wrong, people are still very moral even though we are in the stupid era of political correctness, he will be judged morally...what he has done morally is very wrong. His marriage didnt seem to have a breakdown, until he had an affair....I have lost respect for him.

Well if what you say is true then Shorten will never be elected ..

The way things are going in our Parliament it won't be long before they're having bunga bunga parties like Silvio Berlusconi.

I noticed the Labor party didn't want to involve themselves in the issue because they said it was no one else's business. I agree it's none of our business.

As we said for Hawke Keating Gillard Shorten

Labor politicians clearly can't afford to involve themselves. Bill Shorten had an extra-marital affair with Chloe Bryce and I recall she became pregnant while both were still married.  Then we had Tony Burke who had an affair with a staffer while married. Musn't forget that "silly old bastard" Hawke who an affair with Blanch d'Alpuget while married to Hazel while he was PM.  The list goes on ...

Studies have shown that Work colleagues who have intimate relationships with each other are more productive in the workplace

they are more conscientious, industrious and add considerable more value to the organization than those who merely work and go home to their respective spouses day in day out

If we only want saints in politics there will be no one left.

We need more people like Hawke Keating Howard Trump who don’t give a shit about the PC crowd and take the tough decisions .

I have sent Barnaby a Message of support

I used to be perfect but I was a much younger man.

I don't support Barnabys politics but I can't help but like the guy. He won't be the first guy to make this kind of mistake and I'm not going judge him for it.

It is not about the affair, it is about a politician spruiking about family values in order to influence public opinion having an affair whilst doing so, it is about a politician having a minion pad out a job that was never needed in order to provide their girlfriend with a job.

I doubt anyone cares about this reptiles private love life, they care about the integrity of a man who is supposed to be representing them.  I don't want saints in government, but I do want people with some idea about ethics.

I met my wife at work, we did not work in the same office and I did not ask friends to put her into a job that did not exist in order to line our pockets.

Have a read of 'Wednesdays with Bob' (Hawk). Its been going on for years.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

ROFLMAO, studying the Bible, Rafael???

He is a Hypocrite, this is not the standard of what is required as the deputy Prime Minister of our Country. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME and resign immediately not only from your position but from parliament.

Roscoe, presumably you believe that Shorten should also resign from Parliament given that his affair with Chloe Bryce was not of the standard required of an Opposition Leader.

Barnaby is a low despicable sob and also a liar in many things as well as the lies he had told in his job -- he  is an absolute drunkard and chronic alcoholic and is totally unfit to represent our country --  how the hell can a -- thing -- such as he keep holding this position he is an utter disgrace in every way!

I`ve been in a similar situation to Barnaby`s wife. No one here commenting on this situation has the right to moralise on something which they know noting about except what has been reported. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." In short MIND YOUR OWN BLOODY BUSINESS!!

Well said

Flipsout,  I  think it is OUR business as he is EMPLOYED by us -- and is totally UNFIT for the job and he had proved this again and again

He used tax payer money to provide his girlfriend with an income, that makes it our business.  I see very little criticism about the women involved, I see mostly fair comments aboput a man who abused his position and misused public funds.

Do we want all of our politicians to be able to create high paying jobs for their girlfriends, or family?

Hardly empathy for a fellow civil servant

exPS, I suppose that's different from using union members money to provide income for many working women?

Plan B, sorry in my opinion you are wrong.

He's obviously a scumbag - just as one would expect from a verminous LNP minion. And dumb to boot.

Yep, so what do we do with those men in teaching positions in unis who sexually harass their  students?

We do nothing until we get critical numbers of complaints. Then we form a comitee and study the findings, but still do very little because they are the Labor/Greens cheer squad.

A couple were sacked during the last four years.

Gee so many posts from Micha is this your idea of a majority of posts
