What was your favourite book/movie/tv show this year?
2015 is wrapping up and I always end the year by looking back at the books I read and the movies/tv shows I watched and try to rank the top few. So YLC readers, what was your favourite book/movie/tv show of the year? It can be a new release or an classic you finally got around to watching, or maybe even an old favourite you'd forgotten about.
My favourite movie of the year was Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) written and directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen, its about the life of an aging hollywood star (Michael Keaton) who is living in the shadow of his former glory portraying the superhero Batm- sorry, I mean Birdman. The film explores his degrading mental health and anxiety in the lead up to a premiere of a play which he is risking everything on. One of the most impressive feats of the movie is that the entire film appears as if it was shot in a single take.
My favourite book of the year was Mason & Dixon by Thomas Pynchon, a very, very fictional retelling of the adventures of the two astronomers/surveyors as they draw the Mason-Dixon Line which now separates Pennsylvania and Maryland.
As for TV, I haven't been watching too much this year, has anyone got some good suggestions for the Christmas holidays?
Well Gerry, that covers Richard. I seem to remember you STATING also, Billy & at least 4 or 5 others.
