What meat?

What meat do you all use for making a beef and Veg soup?

I normally use Gravey Beef -- but I like to cut all the fat and gristle off it I use also use:

Pumpkin/sweet potato/onions/swede/parsnips/carrots/garlic/lentils/borlotti beans/barley/veg broth/herbs and spices and also some honey.

Would be interested in what others use?

Thanks

PlanB -  I love soups, especially in the Winter. I was at a lovely garden restaurant last week and the special was Ham Hock Soup with split peas and vegetables. The meat was so tender and fell off the soup bones. I asked the lady if it was done in a pressure cooker, but she said no, it was cooked for a number of hours, stirring all the time and tasting it for seasoning. I also love Pumpkin Soup with Cinnamon and Sour Cream at the end.

Yes I make some pumpkin soup sometimes and add all types of things to it as I feel fit -- the soup above everyone loves it I do myself too it is so tasty and even though I am not a meat lover it give the soups a good flavour and I don't have to eat the meat if I don't want to  --leaves  more for others -- everyone always likes to share some and I make about 8 litres and freeze some and give away some as well.

I was just wondering what type of meat others would use,  Gravy beef or Chuck?

My mum used to make the most delicious soup with bacon bones.   I tried to make it myself once.  Once was enough, what a disaster.  LOL  Never bothered to try again.
