Strawberry of course ;-P

But vanilla comes second.

Peter is always raving about the Strawberry Ice Cream of his

youth which had real Strawberry pieces in it and a real

Strawberry flavour fwed.

I saw a lady making Chile ice cream on tele. once. I

cannot imagine how that would go.

.

I have had mango ice cream which was divine also, but Gerry was

a bit mean with his mangoes this year. I will start nagging him earlier next year

as he has a big tree and in season full of them - the lucky duck.

All the best

Phyl.

Phyl just like your hubby I too think that the older ice cream is better than now.

I can remember on a Saturday arvo at the local picture theatre at interval

getting a Dixy or a Wafer ice cream from the lolly boy .

The Dixy wooden spoon always broke before I could finish my ice cream

Does anyone remember the 2 penny bubble header Choc and strawberry

That was REAL ice cream back then not the rubbish they are putting out now. :-P

If I go to an ice cream parlour and there are many choices

I love Bubblegum and also Rocky Road but as long as it is

ice cream I will eat it so all flavours are good. :)

Back to work tomorrow - hope all had a good break.

I like vanilla--but my favourite is the home made ice cream

I agree with you PlanB home made is best.

I make a really nice quick low cost ice cream which always

goes down well and anyone having it says it is very nice.

I just use a 300ml Cream (full strength)

1 can Carnation (full strength) milk

sugar (I use around 1/2 cup can use more)

vanilla to taste or any flavour topping.

Whisk together let sit in freezer until crystals form

re-whip until double mixture.

Freeze.

Thanks Yaretzi--I have copied that--I used to make one decades ago and it was so good but I have forgotten the recipe--I sometimes put fresh Passion fruit in it

Sorry PlanB and all, I had 1.2 cups sugar I meant

a "/ " instead of the " . " which is

a bit to much but would not really matter other

than it would be quite sweet. I meant

1/2 cup sugar................

Sorry.

We buy ice cream from the 'HOME MADE' delivery van which traverses our suburb once a fortnight on a Saturday, bell ringing and families waiting in the street for "John". A high class product from a local supplier, with a variety to suit all tastes.

Another 'goodie' from the Gold Coast.

Thanks for the recipe Yaretzi. I am making that tomorrow (maybe tonight

even) SO easy.

........

I will take PlanB's advice also and add fruit as I bought a stack of

boxes of Blueberries on special last week

.........

Gizmo that must be wonderful. Please ask him to come past our

place and ring his bell. I would be out there buying.

Do they have many flavours? I like Vanilla anyway so that would not

matter if they just come in the one.

........

Oops better add we do live Country Victoria :)

Phyl.

No worries Yaretzi--I will make a note of the 1/2 cup thanks

Hi Phyl, go to Google, or your browser, type Home Ice Cream..................check the fun website, you may be lucky.

Also, changing the subject, a wonderful place, Country Victoria, I lived in Vic. for 40 odd years.

Kind Regards, Giz. ;-)

We are Vics. through and through Gizmo. Which area did you live? We have

lived in a few places. Both Peter and I worked for Vic. Roads and lived

on top of the Vic. Roads building at Kew for many years and it was a very nice

home and we soon got used to the trams :) as Vic Roads is at Kew Junction .

.

Thanks for that, I did Google and strangely enough where we shopped this

morning Mid Valley there is a Home Made Ice Cream Place. I had not

realised BUT last Christmas on a table with girls dishing it out were

samples of ice cream but we did not know where it had come from albeit

did enjoy it (just a small sample) SO when we go to Mid Valley again in a

couple of days will go have a good look at Bows Ice Cream and more than likely

buy some.

Phyl.

Hi Phyl,

We grew up in Nunawading, so Whitehorse Rd was THE way to the City, through Kew Junction. Noting the shops with Toppa ice cream signs, also Peters Pole with a Point was a familiar sight.

Married and living in Eltham was semi-country. Weekend trips were to country Victoria, later on, water-skiing on the Murray at Echuca and Mildura. Shepparton was for weekend camping and the fun of country towns. Also down to Gippsland, Wonthaggi, Philip Island to Lakes Entrance and beyond. Trips to Kyneton ,Bacchus Marsh, Bendigo, Ballaarat for a day trip. Fishing with my father at Molesworth, Bonnie Doon and other Eildon Weir places. Tocumwol and other hamlets along the Murray. Wodonga and Albury were a long way to travel in the days when the 'highway' was 2 lanes wide, with trucks and caravans chugging at a slow pace, the towing cars were basically not capable of towing a load. People got to their destination, had fun for a couple of weeks on Xmas holidays, came home with the same money in the pocket as when they left, due to the great frugal lifestyle to which we were all accustomed, YET, wanted for nothing. There was ALWAYS a few coins from Mum or Dad for an......ICE CREAM !!!!!!

I am forever thankful that my sister, living in Kinglake, survived the horrendous bush fire, and talking to her one day not long after the fires had passed, her comments to me, were, " I would just LOVE to go and buy an ice cream".

True story,

Regards from the Gizmo Clan
