What do we do about climate change?

It's a complicated issue and I wouldn't have a clue. Naturally, we are all worried about our electricity bills. Why are we keeping coal fired power stations, why not go nuclear, England has done it quite successfully and we export uranium all over the world so what's wrong with it? Is there anyone out there who knows about this complex issue? What about the tax on carbon? It's a flipping nightmare!

Julia seems to be stalling about Climate Change, it's a tough one but can't be put in the 'too hard basket' forever.

Whether you agree with the concept of climate change or not, there are a lot who do and want to see some action on it.

I think getting all these citizens to discuss it is not a good idea.

Talking to business and scientists sounds like a better idea.

Members of parliament do not necessarily know any more than we do and their decisions are based on their political beliefs and their popularity with voters.

How to impliment ideas, finding the cost to the public and estimating the result sounds to me to be the best way to go.

I agree fwed ............ whether or not we believe in man made climate change, something needs to be done. We are producing pollution at an alarming rate on a worldwide basis and our population (and the domestic animals we rely on for food) is growing year by year. Nobody in their right mind can expect that to continue forever without consequences.

It would be like using the Grand Canyon to dump garbage - huge though it is, it would eventually fill up.

World governments should be looking hard at reducing carbon emissions and other pollution, developing renewable energy supplies, population control (or reduction), innovative crop science, sustainable fishing and animal husbandry as well as minimising food wastage.

If we dont start making serious efforts in these and other areas, we bequeath to our future generations a congested world of depleted resources where crowding, pollution and hunger will be a fact of daily life. Humans will eventually be living like battery hens.

Of course, our beloved world leaders might simply decide that we need another world war to "thin us out".
