There is a lady here in Melbourne, who organised the protest on the sdteps of Parl House, and she has been trying to get an appointment to see Rudd for months. Finally got a reply back from someone, that they can accomadate her if she goes to Canberra!!

Even if she can afford it, which she can't, he's never here in Australia long enough to sit down.

He's off to New York shortly, about his seventh or eighth o'seas trip so far!

Just heard the lady on radio, and she got to actually meet Rudd here in Melbourne, but with no result, other than he told her how much money the govt is spending!

He did at least ask Jenny Macklin to keep the lady in touch with what's happening. (From her account, nothing will happen)

The point is, that this lady has been at the forefront of a big push for pensioners, for months. With all of that...nothing has changed.

Can we get in touch with this lady, as individuals, and offer her support in any way?

If it is apparent she has a lot of support then it just MAY carry some wieght

Possibly through Neil Mitchell .

nmitchell@3aw.com.au

Her name is Shirley ?

Isnt Shirley the lady on Today Tonight that started off the whole thing? I see TT has shut down that site adopt a pensioner - didnt go to it myself as it was for those on single pension doing it tough without any support. Not that we have much but two of us so felt couldnt go. But checked it the other day - no rent being paid for site it said so off. thought oh dear - Olympics has overtaken the pathos of old ladies starving. Short attention span.

Problem is - not enough of us ranting in the streets - maybe? Pensioners taking off their clothes in Melbourne certainly got attention and it is that which will get action from Rudd - bad press he cant take.

well Val that would be a sight to behold if we all turned up on Parliament steps and stripped

while holding signs We Want Rudd,he might pay anything we ask just to preserve his eyesight?

Hilarious:)
