Welcome

Firstly I would like to say WELCOME to all the newbies on here. Having been away It's great to see so many new ones coming in and having their say.

Secondly I feel saddened to see all the angst on here with people calling people dopes, inane chatterers, childish etc. You may not agree with what people are saying but it's their right to say what they think and not be abused by others. If it upsets you then don't read it.

We want this site to be enjoyed and for the new ones to stay and contribute. Remember the more people the better the site will be.

Thirdly I wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and may everyone have a great 2010.

Hi Sandikay, and a very happy new year to you and yours. It is a bit sad that we sometimes criticise the poster, rather than the post and especially so when that happens to a "newbie". I think it is the freedom people feel with anonymity - when we meet new people "in the flesh", we would never be rude or ungracious and call them names or openly criticise their opinions.

We seem to feel free to do that from behind our veil of anonymity on the internet. What we all need is to simply bring the common courtesy and good manners we maintain in real life into our internet discussions.

kfchugo, your words are wise & tend to reflect the true nature of individuals.

If you want to look at a point of coincidence you should look at the declared background of the rudest of our posters.

Most, if not all state their profile as

.............. is a .............. who lives in etc etc

I rest your case.

Welcome back Sandikay. How was your holiday? and how is your daughter? and I bet you all including the dogs had a beautiful time at the lovely holiday place you went to. Weather perfect

and a good time had by all I am sure. Will keep your beautiful daughter in my prayers as her treatment starts in the New year.

All the best and you are SO right very sad people have to resort to calling people "dopes" and also speaking of what others wish to speak about as "inane".

Dusty is very right when she says we should all be able to say what we want but not downright rude to people. Often times seems some want this place for a select few to just talk Politics or be mean to others. Every topic is good but not every topic appeals to everyne - I read what I want just wish the knockers of this site would do the same but I think it would take away the reason some come here and that is to be nasty to be honest. We who want to just chat about anything and everything can just ignore them thank goodness as they can us.

All the very best

Phyl.

I was called a dope one time because I barrack for the Crows ..............and anyone who barracks for Collingwood is a dope also............and I know a few of them ...................

welcome back sandikay, and a Happy New year to you and family,

I come in most days but dont usually reply to many , I was always taught if I couldn't say something nice about people then dont say anything at all

cheers

rainey

We are lucky Rainey as there are some very nice people here so I suppose we stick with those think as we do and come here to enjoy the company of like minded people. There will always be those want to be nasty and they are this way away from the computer probably, or is it just the anonimity of typing fingers I wonder. I am always myself and the same on or off the computer so just do not understand mind games some people like to play. Everyone should be able to speak without others jumping down their throats surely. Why should any person feel upset because they fear having said something does not suit a few others here. Say what you like I say and if others do not like us do not read our posts. It really is just so simple :)

All the best

Phyl.

Thanks for the welcome back. We had a great time away, weather was lovely and we caught a few fish, went swimming and the kids all went hiking and diving over the old wrecks.

We went to Carols by the sea at Edithburgh with fireworks to end the night. Enjoyed by all except the dogs. They weren't too keen on the crackers.

Unfortunately our arrival home on Christmas Eve afternoon ended with my husband admitted to hospital with a bad infection which had spread through the back of his hand and they thought after a scan that they would have to operate he was there for 4 days. He was put on morphine and antibiotics through a drip and after much toing and froing with specialists they eventually decided not to operate so it was an anxious time.

We also arrived home to find that either my son or daughter when they were unpacking on the Wednesday had left the freezer door slightly ajar and because of the heat (it was 40 C here) I had to throw everything out and clean up the mess. The butter in the freezer had melted and run onto the floor so had all that to do before I could cook the christmas meats.

Apart from all the drama we had a good christmas eve tea and a great breakfast with friends on christmas morning before we took daughter and son in law to the airport to fly to Sydney.
