There is a LOT more to come out on this --- I believe lots on Twitter -- (which I am not on)

There is a reason why the producers of shows like Ch 10's The Project (ABC's Q&A as well) declare that the programs are for entertainment only and should not be judged against the standards that news services are routinely expected to meet.

There is a need for good journalists too,

$80 million?

This sounds like a dead set corruption in the highest office of the land story.  Where there's smoke there's fire and we all await to see WHO the beneficiaries are.

The Cayman Islands is one of the government condoned places where thieves of all manner may park their money and remain out of the jurisdiction of governments.

I'm thinking Taylor and Joyce may have a financial stake in this but we'll have to see how this unfolds. If so then will the incumbent government indict the criminals or will they say they have no jurisdiction to prosecute?

Never been to Cayman Islands but had a look at a few next door. Now would you trust these people with your money? They could have a new govt tomorrow like Cuba and all the dosh is gone. Maybe I am naive but I would rather have mine in Luxemburg, Malta, Liechtenstein, Ireland which are all known as tax shelters as well. OK just checked: their currency is Pound Sterling.

Thanks for the ‘Michael West report’ link Plan B. Brilliant and comprehensive. Much yet to learn but it is obvious that something smells rotten. Australian tax payers deserve no less than a thorough investigation into this complicated mess and good to see that our investigative journalists are not being put off by legal threats.

Yeah, the stink coming out from this deal is overpowerring!

A judicial enquiry is required immediately to a) expose corruption, and b) misuse, rather squandering, of taxpayers money, by this reckless Govt.

Labor's silence on this topic over the years is also defeaning - Penny Wong as ex-Water Minister must have had strong insight into whatever was happening after the Libs took over.

Corruption at it's best. Robbing taxpayers for their own selfish money grabbing schemes, they should be locked up and made to pay it back. How can this even be allowed to happen, we need an enquiry immediately, but I guess this Government will do all it can to postpone that until after the elections.

And yes Mick, Tayor and Joyce do have a financial stake in it, why else would it happen.

And also there is a lot of missing water too.

I read the above stuff, and am now really surprised that recent surveys show that the majority of LC survey respondents are Liberal Party supporters.

How could anyone read this, research it, make an informed decision, and still vote for the party (or a similar right wing party, or a party that suggests preferencing that party) that is so obviously inept, corrupt, misinformed, irresponsible or all of those things?

I'll bet you all will still vote the same way you always have - selfishly, thoughtlessly, and with a view to looking after yourself in the short term, not the country in the long term.  Every election, I want to leave Australia because we have such poor choices in our politicians, but I can't think of anywhere better. Roll on, benevalent dictator.

Check out the ABC/Australia Votes website, you can answer questions and see who aligns with your principals, it helped me a lot.

Janis I never vote the same way I go into everything on ALL parties and ALL standing in the election and vote for whats best for our country, fairness, and empathy.

I must admit there is a LOT to be desired -- in this election and -- Adani -- needs to be STOPPED -- how the hell can they guarantee unlimited water for 60+ years when our farmers have NO water now!?

They say Job/jobs/jobs/ whats the good of *&^%*%$ jobs if you have no food or water!? and you can't eat MONeY -- although politicians seem to think you can.

Something really seems rotten here and surely this justifies the setting up of an truly independent ICAC type body to operate totally transperently without politicians oversight.
