Warnings over popular $10 Kmart craft item

With the explosion of home arts and crafts over the last two years people are buying more beads, sequence, glue and feathers than ever.

One item that's gone gangbusters is Kmart's epoxy resin kits, sold for just $10, used to produce all kinds of jewellery, accessories and ornaments.

But epoxy resin is a toxic substance that can be dangerous and should be handled while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and a facemask.

The kits don't come with any PPE, nor any warnings about the resin's toxicity and it's got customers worried.

Many customers argued these warnings were not enough, especially in comparison to what other resin kits had.

"No warnings about how toxic it is, nothing about using a respirator, and definitely no gloves," one customer told news.com.au.

"Please be careful with this stuff. It won’t be the best quality and can be very dangerous."

Kmart says the epoxy resin kits "have been tested and assessed so that they conform to Australian labelling requirements for safe handling, hazard assessment and hazard identification."

Should Kmart be selling such a dangerous product with safety gear or adequate warnings?

Thanks, Brad, there sure are a lot of dangerous recalls of late --

It would not surprise me if the kit was made in China like the rest of the junk Kmart sells

LOL  yes I agree Suze!
