Warning Warning Warning 100% true

Centrelink customers are being warned of a phone scam.

The scam began in recent weeks and has targeted people in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

It involves people are being called by someone pretending to work for Centrelink claiming they are owed a Centrelink payment of up to several thousand dollars.

The caller then instructs the person to send money, usually several hundred dollars via cheque, in order to release the funds.

Centrelink says it would never call anyone and ask for money.

Anyone who suspects they have received a scam phone call is urged to report it to Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on 1300 795 995.

They would be working very hard for small change, or are they calling boat people?  LOL

I don't call several hundreds small change.....maybe you get too much.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.  I meant that most of the people they might rob would only have small change to purloin.

If people fall for this scam them theydon't deserve to be getting a centrelink payment, because they are mad

Not everyone is as internet educated as you, so some pre warning on new schemes just might save a person some money. Don't be a smart @#$+.

I am sure that some would be caught --not I though--thanks Davey
