Australia wide — 2407 new locally acquired cases, 0 new OS acquired cases, 13 deaths.

VICTORIA
• 1,763 new from 62,189 tests, all locally acquired, 4 deaths.
• 14,368 active cases, 517 in hospital, 101 in ICU, 66 ventilated.
• The highest daily local cases number recorded in any Australian state or territory.
• Deaths: A man in his 80s from Whittlesea, a woman in her 70s from Hume, man in his 60s from Whitehorse, woman in her 60s from Banyule.
• New case locations in Melbourne include high rates in the northern suburbs with Hume 309, Whittlesea 180, Moreland 90, Darebin 50. 29% or 514 cases are in the western suburbs across all local government areas with Wyndham 111, Melton 105, Brimbank 103, Moonee Valley 57, Maribyrnong 48 and Hobsons Bay 35 (concerningly, this rate has doubled over the past seven days). 21% or 370 cases are in the SE suburbs with 131 in Casey (this rate has tripled and is showing the largest growth in Melbourne).
• In regional Victoria there are 86 new cases including Geelong 16, Mitchell Shire 15, Shepparton 14 and Latrobe 9.
• There are 51 cases in Victoria's prison system, including 36 prisoners and 15 staff. All in-person personal visits to prisons across the state have been suspended.
• The CFMEU says two babies are among dozens of new positive cases linked to a violent protest outside the union's office two weeks ago. Seven of the CFMEU staff have tested positive and the virus has now spread to family members.
• Vaccination numbers: 83.2% of over 16s have had a first dose. 53% fully vaccinated.

• One new local case is a three-year old girl linked to the aviation cluster and detected in quarantine. The other was a 19-year-old woman travelling home from Victoria, only infectious on her flight before being intercepted on arrival into Queensland and now in hotel quarantine.
• On yesterday's mystery case, the woman was fully vaccinated and had been for over a month. None of the three other people in her household have contracted the virus. Two of them were also fully vaccinated. Genomic sequencing hasn't linked the woman to any known cases in Queensland. The closest links are to a cluster in Victoria from September.
• A truck driver has been charged after he was caught trying to sneak a woman over the border into Queensland. The B-Double was intercepted at the M1 Vehicle Checkpoint at Tugun around 7.30pm last night. While speaking with the driver, an eagle-eyed officer spotted a woman hiding under a blanket in the back cab of the truck.

"Eleven people, three women and eight men, have died after contracting the virus. One person was in their 50s, one was in their 60s, four people were in their 70s, two were in their 80s, and three were in their 90s.Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said NSW Health is continuing to investigate a new Delta strain linked to a new case.""We've detected a genome of the Delta strain which is different from that that was previously transmitting in our community," Dr Chant said."We've linked that back to a person who returned from overseas but the exact mechanism of how that strain emerged and got into the community in western Sydney is still under investigation."Dr Chant stressed that early research shows the new Delta strain does not show increased risk of transmission.

• 1,890 new from 74,105 tests, all locally acquired, 5 deaths.
• 18,342 active cases, 619 in hospital, 126 in ICU, 88 ventilated.
• Deaths: Two men in their 70s, from Maribyrnong and Wyndham, a woman in her 80s from Yarra, and two men in their 50s from Melbourne and Brimbank.
• Of the people in hospital yesterday, less than 7 per cent were fully vaccinated.
• Half of Melbourne's new cases were concentrated in six LGAs – Brimbank, Casey, Hume, Melton, Whittlesea and Wyndham.
• There were 126 cases across regional Victoria including 18 in the Baw Baw shire associated with the Robin Hood hotel and a number of other gatherings, 18 in Mildura, 16 in Shepparton, 12 in Geelong, 12 in Macedon Ranges and 11 in Latrobe. 
• Victoria’s Covid Commander Jeroen Weimar has issued a warning to the state, saying the virus is now spreading everywhere, not just in previous hotspots.

Dr Ahmad Aly, the brother of Logie-winning The Project host Waleed is a general surgeon at Melbourne's Austin Hospital. He filmed a video interviewing an colleague in ICU and was shocked to find out that all 13 patients fighting for life with coronavirus in the ward were unvaccinated, with most on a ventilator. The confronting video was shared by his journalist sister-in-law Susan Carland on a day Victoria recorded 1890 new cases with Dr Jeroen Weimar (top right) very concerned about the spread into regional areas, where there are now 120 active cases.
